Everybody has a story. What`s yours? Stories from Main Street is the Smithsonian s new app for collecting stories from America s small towns and rural communities. This is the place where anyone with an ...
First thing this app insists on is a GPS location Huge assumption that all devices using this App have GPS capability There is no option to manually set the location If you are asking for rural oral history strangling an App with technological requirements fails for the fact that some technology may be absent outside the designers metropolitan location or choice of devices Visiting the website listed in this App shows how much information is missing from this App A decent information menu would be nice plus the option to browse the App first This App breaks down submissions and listening options by gender and age boy girl man woman This just seems wrong tasteless strange discriminatory Why should age and gender matter need to be asked or be required That turns me off from the start Seems clinical laboratory research based not personal The App asks for submissions and listening options based on specific questions This fails to address the random individual and unique aspects of peoples lives This project app should be rethought by people outside academia committees research or science This Apps goal has all the warmth and social feeling of lab rat research not oral history Please try again     Nice idea very troubling execution
there are useful info but not alot              So So
In terms of design customization and ease of use this is a four star app but I would like to hear the qualities of stories located in this app before I go higher           Stories from Main Street
I thought this would be interesting to listen to stories from small town America Instead I listened to 78 people from outside the United States While one of the stories was interesting the rest were spoken in their native language and I could not understand Two of them seemed to be middle eastern men singing Either the app needs to be renamed to encompass the world or you need to filter out all stories from outside of America This app fails to deliver the experience it promises     Main street of the world
Really liked the app Had fun listening to people Is there a way to categorize by region Great job              Liked it
