I totally agree with CJ74WUs comment DO NOT UPGRADE TO V2 A window keeps popping up every few pages while you are reading your book asking you to purchase something very annoying I am going to switch to a different Chinese book reader     Do Not Upgrade to V2

Bought the addon to read some large drmfree mobi files it refused to import them Used Calibre to convert them to epub format ShuBook then read the four files However I also imported them into iBooks and iBooks did a far better job displaying the contents ShuBook did not get the links and navigation right iBooks did I made the comparison to ensure that there was nothing wrong with the original files For me ShuBook is not a Stanza replacement at all but a waste of 199 for the addon Ill probably try it on a few more things to see if it does anything well but I fully expect to be deleting it in the near future        Failed with mobi inferior on epub

Was five stars until it no longer let me download title or author Very disappointed        Failing download

Just purchased and I love this app Ive already purchased package A Finally an app almost as good as Stanza was4 stars Since the developer is open to feature requests I emailed the following requests 1 Ability to add multiple labels or read the Subject tags of an ebook like Stanza 2 A way of determining if youve read a book or not like Stanza 3 In addition to showing how many pages are in a chapter also show how many pages are in the whole book like iBooks 4 Make the page swipe animation more like iBooks All in all though a fine product              Almost As good as Stanza

Free version removed import from itunes and made the program useless To be fair the paid version is pretty good     get it only if you want to pay the extra package

So reading through all the recent complaints I realize they were all from people who used the free version I tried the free version after Stanza broke with iOS5 and was really happy with it For 199 you can upgrade to the full version for life and its comparable to what I had with Stanza if not better For people willing to invest in someone who is updating their app frequently this is the best book reader of all the paid and free versions Ive found to date since Stanza is now unusable iTunes works for transferring books so does mailing books to yourself Great app                 Great book reading app

Great reading app for the iPhone and iPad Im constantly trying different apps but I always come back to this Ignore the negative reviews from 2011 They dont apply anymore                 still my goto epub reader

I like the brightness change in previous version where only this app is affected when you vertically swipe Now it changes the brightness of the entire phone This is a very silly idea Wanting to read book with dimmed brightness doesnt mean I want to dim the entire phone How to restore old brightness settings Otherwise a great app           Why change system brightness

I love the new sync feature v39 I have two actively used iPads shared among my family members each with a different Apple account id and his or her own iPhone or iPod I prefer its sync model over those of iBooks and Kindle for exactly those reasons highlighted in its Whats New section Aug 22 2013 This update v342 is very very stable Ive updated the app on all my new and old iOS devices ranging from those running iOS 43 to iOS 613 In fact I have downloaded every single update since v31 Not a single book has ever been lost as a consequence of ShuBook update I love it This is much much better than some other similar apps track record Moreover I have some general advice to other users The apps description has indeed warned that there is no guarantee that the books can be restored after an iOS system upgrade Some other apps that also let you download a huge number of books and files from thirdparty sources also have similar warnings However when I do indevice upgrade rather than upgrade via iTunes all my app updates are flawless and faster Avoid doing your system update via iTunes                 Perfect Update

the app pop up every few minutes which is annoying I used to like this app but the upgrade embedded a frequent pop up and reminded you to purchase really bothering no vertical layout     annoying pop up every few minutes

Looked at 10 readers after not being able to use Stanza after ios 50 This is without a doubt the best of them all IMO                 Great App

Ive used Stanza for years and realize that its on its last legs ShuBook is as good as Stanza and in some cases better Ive tried all of them and only ShuBook provides a pleasant uncluttered UI and powerful feature set                 A worthy Stanza Replacement

The app is good in reading the books but really needs improvement in the books download part In Stanza you can download multipe books by sending the books to a download queue so I dont have to wait for one to finish before you can download the next But in this app even if I have paid for the extra 199 for package A I still can only download one by oneuhnot very user friendly The other big feature missing is you can not read books while you download like in Stanza So I cannot read the book and download at the same time Wish they can improve on these two missing feature              Wish it has the same download feature that Stanza has

I could upload at least one of my own titles to see how they present in the app I do like the direct links to Gutenberg Internet Archive and the other sources but        Would be more helpful if

This is such and easy to use and powerful app for getting your ebooks onto your device from the web iTunes email or another device Sorts and displays your books in many customizable ways Cant recommend enough                 The best ePub reader out there

The upgrade took away the vertical layout from the free version which is the major feature of this application that Im using Time to get a different app     No vertical layout for free version anymore

Update always loved this app but the new update is great Frequent updates are a plus Ive tried all the readers in the appstore to find a suitable replacement for Stanza and this is it The other apps left me frustrated but this one is amazing The developers have updated app frequently including issues previously noted and I hope this trend continues Only couple things missing Ability to reorder books under subheadings of groups Ability to save created colorfont schemes Overall great app                 Finally a suitable reader

There have been two updates after I wrote the review below and two column display has not been added I am still hopeful I still love this ebook app However I just bought a new iPad Air and prefer a two column display in landscape on the iPad Other readers support this but Shubook does not I am not abandoning Shubook because its other features are still heads above the others but I would be much happier if this change could be made When this happens I will restore my five star rating              The Best Alternative to Stanza Still but others are catching up

This is a really good start to an ePub reader Very usable as is I would give it 5 stars if they would add a toggle to get rid of all the Chinese language text and add the ability to connect with Calibre              Nice start

The app works great for reading Chinese language books It provides access to a number of Chinese ebook sites very handy Sure there are other reader apps that will work better depends on what you are after Use this app for its strength in supporting the Chinese reading materials                 Great for reading Chinese language materials

After the latest update I just had to go back and change my rating This is by far a reading app that is becoming the app to beat The developers have added many Stanzalike features which is making reading more comfortable Unlike some developers you can tell Shubooks devs are aiming to please Improvements added are fullscreen reading cleaning up of the ebook databases and the ability to edit metadata If I could rate this app on a scale of 0 to 10 this app just jumped from an 8 to a 95 Obvious feature omissions include ability to change the sizes of the margins inability to change book cover and Wikipedia lookup for words As for those complaining about the removal OPDS pony up the measly 199 and pay the guy for his efforts Geez some people are so cheap                 Also a Stanza Refugee

Ive been seeking an ereader alternative since iOS 5 broke Stanza and ShuBook is almost as good I dont see an option to make annotations but hopefully that will come along plus I miss not being able to just pinch the screen to adjust font size It was a great relief to access all my books via Calibre and to read comfortably again but Ill always mourn Stanza and still hope beyond hope itll be resurrected Another Stanza feature I dearly miss is the ability to have an alternate color scheme for night reading Two annoying ShuBbook functions are casesensitive searching and the 2step process to select a single word for copying There are other pros and cons but overall my opinion is that ShuBook earns 5 stars on its own merit                 Packed With Features
