I love this app I have learned 400 words and counting I would like to see added a user defined ranking 1 to 5 for each word 5 means fluent 1 means words to work on Then these can be used as study sets As the word graduates it will automatically be moved to the next study set Or a study set automatically created for words correctly or incorrectly answered during quizzes and spaced repetition Thanks for the app keep up the good work                     Letter to the developer Dallansi

This is the best app I ve found for learning Chinese vocab It s really helping me improve my Chinese It s intuitive fun to use and very effective in teaching Chinese words It has about two thousand Chinese words which is a pretty decent start for learning the language I m about a quarter of the way through them Tips for use in settings switch to viewing pinyin in my focus only go one category at a time Mostly use the spaced repetition learning method                     Best app for learning Chinese vocab Adam aka walkalot

This is predominantly a Vocabulary application aince there are NO VERBS Major ommission And very surprising for the price         Where are the Verbs Johnxh1

The format for the flashcards is great but the vocabulary is terrible The vocabulary does not make any sense For example in their pronoun section they do not have I you you plural or we but they do have random words like nothing Their section on swimming and boating has words like rope but not swimsuit The list is so random i thought something went wrong with my download I emailed support thinking that I had missed something They shot back an abrupt email stating that their vocabulary words had been selected by the experts based on usage and refuse to email me back     Lousy vocabulary Chinese123

i am half chinese and vietnamese but i dont speak chinese neither my family and i want to be the first to speak and learn chinese so i went on to my ipod and search for app that teaches chinese and i found Accelastudy I downloaded the free app to try out tried it work out for me how often do you do updates on new words that currently not in based on what i know at school i studied chinese in school for 2 years and i was told if you know 2000 words you can actually social with people with basic knowledge so i still think this app will help me study what i really want since i graduated and i dont get to take free chinese classes so this would be helpful for me while i try to find a class with my own pocket sad but i gladed i found this app                     great way to learn new langauage NgocLemon?

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the purchase of this product You can t view the words in the category sets and the audio for the words conducted by search are in English For example if you search for Thank you the word appears in both English and Chinese but the audio is only in English What use is that     Can ltiv

Chinese flashcards 1 and 2 are much better apps for learning Chinese Here are the problems with this app 1 Inaccurate translations the character for sit is translated as left Probably because they are cognates But these sorta of errors are common 2 Vocabulary is generic to all language In the food section you won t get chinese food items instead you will get the translation for all te things you are likely to find in a mccdonalds happymeal The whole thing seems like it was computer generated without the help of someone who actually knows Chinese     There are better flashcard apps j sarma

After paying 7 99 for the full version I see that there are bugs in the program For example in the flash card option the characters for memory is nei cun but it is being pronunced as ji yi ti I caught the mistake because I saw two characters and heard three syallables I immediately checked with Google translate which confirmed the error Makes you wonder if the other characters have the right pronunciation Nothing like learning a hard language and then learn it wrong     Bugs in the program Kumar in the City

I love this program I am learning so much It s almost like having a tutor next to you 24 7 teaching you without getting tired or frustrated with you Excellent program The only reason it s not a five star yet is because it doesn t have the ability to jump to words in the study feature I mean when I exited the study and went back in I had to flip over a thousand words before I get to the L words As a recommendation make it like the iPhone contact where you can skip to any letter of the words you want without having to start over Other than that I love this program I ve been waiting for a program like those for a very long time Great job guys                 Almost a five star The Forbidden One

This application is not that great You cannot add your own flashcards Many of the words are not that useful they included a lot of very random words that do not have much use for someone who is not already fluent There are also some mistakes on the pinyin version of words The idea is great but the execution is just not that good         Not really that great Nadan

Well to be fair a lot of the critical reviews for this app turned out to be outdated You can pick out individual words and make your own study lists It dispays pinyin simplified and traditional and the audio is good I learned a whole set of words in like an hour the setup is great My biggest complaint and this is crucial is that there are no sample phrases and NO VERBS This is a huge omission so as of v 1 4 1 be warned                 Only one problem a non y-mous

No simplified characters Seriously Great program but without simplified characters it is not very useful unless you plan on spending all your time in Taiwan     No simplified GuaWaZi

I just downloaded the app as well as the audio files from within the program While I think this is a good language app my itunes backups now take way longer several hours at least although i haven t yet had the patience to actually let it finish yet Once I delete the program everything goes back to normal few minutes backups I understand this is due to itunes trying to back up the many audio files however my iphone is essential for me and hours long backups are not acceptable Please fix this issue soon because I do like the rest of the program and would like to be able to use my purchase without it ruining my backups updated very good customer support i emailed with my issue and got an immediate response which let me know that they had already submitted an update to include the audio files inside the app after updating this app works perfectly now audio sounds good and no more itunes backup issues my only other complaint is that some of the words have incorrect chinese pronounciations e g yogurt accuracy can be improved but otherwise it s a very well thought out program and seems like the best out of the available chinese iphone apps                 great support astr0cyte

Updated and downloaded the new audio Adjusted settings restarted app I have Chinese selected in Audio Options but only English audio works Playing Chinese words gives message Audio has not been downloaded Audio Quiz is silent too The new layout is great and overall this app deserves 5 stars when it is fixed     Update needs update Word Sponge

If I was able to search for a word and hear how to pronounce it this app would be good But instead I have to flip thru thousands of flash card to heard how one word is pronounce Now does that make any sence Also If this app provided me with basic phrases so I can communicate with others of the same language I would highly recommend this app to everyone Because this app does have potental The font size is great the flash card are great and the quizzes or great as well I can t forget about the study sets But once again this app does not allow you to hear the words in the study set section as well And right now I really get frustrated useing this app and I don t believe it is worth the price     Could be alot better dlny75

I ve had this app for a while now along with a few other similar apps I ve been waiting for version 1 3 to come out and on the website it said sometime in December December is almost over and I don t want to waste my money by deleting these apps could you please post a specific release date         Tick Tock Tick Tock Mz. This is an OK application for learning Chinese I would like to see a way to narrow the vocabulary included in the quiz to only the vocabulary that I am studying Also the font makes it difficult to identify some of the strokes so it would be nice to have an easier to read font in the next update Thanks             Pretty good App DCRocks60

Do not buy this app as there is no audio and only 2000 odd words There are plenty of other apps that have audio and or more words for 0 99 or less This app is not even a value for 0 99 If there was a rating with 0 stars that is what I would give this app     DO NOT BUY spwXIII

Weaknesses 2 100 words divided into 66 categories Adjectives Adverbs Anatomy Animals Automative Banking Beverages You choose to Study a set of flashcards from 1 category all the way to all 66 categories you checkmark which categories you want What they SHOULD have ALSO is a separate category of Most frequently used X to Y words where the user can configure X and Y i e 100 most common words 500 most common words or 200th to 500th most common words Quiz mode selects words from all 66 categories no way to limit which categories English to Chinese dictionary you type in English up pops the Chinese characters only lists the Chinese characters it should show the pronunciation of the Chinese characters Flash card mode shows English on front and shows only Chinese characters on back should provide an option for pronunciation too Chinese to English dictionary type in Chinese up pops English stopped working for me for some reason No example sentences yet No audio yet Not worth 15 right now IMO Maybe 5         Significant problems in first release rabbutt

Besides the upgrades listed I wish I could see both pinyin and characters on the flashcards with English on the other side like you can in study mode But my biggest issue is that I can choose to study just a few characters at a time by subject nice but the quiz still pulls from the whole vocabulary list At least as far as I can tell So this program is a nice start but has a little ways to go in my opinion             Almost ksuhaka
