The NGA Aeronautical Application provides DoD customers the ability to view NGA's suite of DoD Flight Information Publications (FLIP), FAA sectionals, Enroute charts, Inflight Moving Maps as well as new digital only products such as ...
Considering this is free to US Military this is an amazing app I have extensively used foreflight as well so I feel that I can offer some points in comparison Overall as one would expect foreflight is a much more polished product That being said a foreflight military flight bag subscription can be rather expensive However Aero App offers the ability to view GIANT reports while foreflight does not This is a very helpful feature for pilots who fly heavier aircraft and have to worry about pavement strengths and taxiway clearances Additionally the E6B feature of Aero App has some nice features Also Aero App now offers Jeppesen plates which can be helpful when there are no FLIP plates available to the field to which you are flying Both Aero App and Foreflight offer ADS B connectivity I have not used this feature so I can t speak to it for either app Some negatives Aero App currently does not offer any satellite radar or graphical weather for locations outside of the United States It does offer METARS and TAFS oversees Aero App does not allow for word searches in planning pubs such as the AFD AP s FIH Enroute Supps etc Although in a pinch you can easily transfer the document from the app into a document reader and complete a word search that way In summary if you are given a free or significantly discounted Foreflight subscription I would probably use that In the past couple of years I have seen Aero App continue to improve and I hope it continues to do so as I believe it is a nice free alternative to many of the other EFB apps on the marketplace In my case I will likely switch to using Aero App exclusively when my Foreflight subscription expires instead of shelling out the couple hundred dollars for another Foreflight military flight bag subscription For me Aero App has everything I need and it is free As always of course your mileage may vary                     Great App For the Military Pilot "Sheldon"
Outstanding integration of nearly all military aviator needs Simply need two things for this to be a 5 star app ability to change manual route point names so they re not lat longs that clutter up the map ability to tap map to add point to route                 Almost there logossteve
