It does have a learning curve but so does the board game If you come to this already knowing how to play the board game then you will love this game If you don t know the board game then it will be a little harder to pick up This is a great game either way Love it @lovebuggames
The app is beautiful and plays well however as a new player I was lost even after playing the tutorials The changes needed to make this a 5 star app are 1 Add text explaining the cost of each action Several actions were unavailable to me when I tried to play and I did not know what resources I needed to play the action 2 provide a warning if you select an action that has an and or option if you are unable to perform both actions 3 Add a help button to suggest the best move for your present situation Puerto Rico does these things and the app has helped me not only understand the rules but also the strategy Good but needs better teaching tools sgreasby
Kind of a steep learning curve and while the tutorial is decent I still found myself struggling to understand the best strategy especially when just starting out My first year I often end up begging Almost need to play the tutorial more than once to get how to get things going Also I d really like to see some sort of unlimited solo mode I feel like just as I m getting things up and going and getting a hang of things the game is over I d like to be able to play longer There are things you can build up to that I just can t seem to even get to in a single game Maybe I m just not good at it or have missed something but the option to keep growing my farm and playing would be nice 3 1 2 HereticRick

What a fantastic game I walked away from my second game and I was impressed I love playing the basic game and using the 14 occupation minor improvement cards to develop a new strategy at the beginning of each game After that I have to use my brain to figure out how to optimize my limited resources My wife isn t into heavy board games so this is outstanding This is an unbelievably satisfying game I haven t been this impressed with a game since playing Power Grid Logistical Puzzle Tbot9614
I like the game but it is rather slow when plying a few AIs In addition about one game in 5 seems to crash the game repeatably so the only thing I an do is to forfeit The crashes were rare before but more frequent with the new decks New update has caused hangs to return Updated I haven t seen it hang since the 11 16 update what took that so long but it just crashed on me using the new decks so that is STILL an issue years later Nice but buggy Qazefvyjm
Agricola is a modern classic when it comes to tabletop gaming And the app by Playdek is wonderful If you re brand new to modern tabletop gaming this probably isn t the best game to begin with Ticket to Ride Carcassonne and other Gateway Games may be better But for those looking for something deeper and meatier you just can t go wrong with Agricola There was a bug for quite some time that had the AI lock up and that bug seems to now be gone I ve played through 1 2 dozen 4 player games against the AI and not one of them has locked up As such I quickly purchased the Gamer s Deck IAP as a way to thank Playdek for continuing to update the app Wonderful music-meister

I have been playing the game for months now and I love it However this latest version is horrible and borderline unplayable Moving a family member to a game piece is close to impossible and requires catlike reflexes Please for the love of everything scared add some edge sensitivity settings or anchor the game board I am really excited about the new deck but I cannot believe you would release such a useless version of this game You have obviously released it without testing on the iPhone To be fair I have heard the game works smoothly on the iPad Awesome game unplayable update

Great game but the sound effects are annoying Please instead of a random animal sound going off every five seconds make sounds when my opponent is taking an action I frequently miss my opponents move and have to go back and look at the game log because my opponents turn is muted Should be an easy fix considering you already have sound effects built in for player 1 Anyway I love the board game thanks for porting it to mobile devices for us Please change sound FX

This review is for the latest update Im trying to play through the tutorial and Im having major problems I need to drag my chips into certain actions for example I need to move my worker into the gather wood action Unfortunately when Im moving the worker chip into the gather wood action the screen jumps way too far If Im moving up it jumps above the place where I need to put the chip If I move the chip back down it jumps too far down I basically have to try and move the chip about 10 times before I can get it in Ive tried doing it very slowly and it doesnt help There isnt an option in the game settings either Strange because it did not happen until I got to the third tutorial Anyway this is unplayable until they fix this bug Unplayable

if you like turnbased strategy games this is for you A few of the occupations and upgrades that are randomly distributed are overpowered so if your opponent gets one of these its an uphill battle But that aside this is a very fun game Turnbased strategy

I really love this game and spend several hours a day playing it so when I saw a major update offering a new deck of cards I rushed to get it Unfortunately it looks like there was little to no testing as there is a major bug in it Picking up the pieces makes the board shift around and it is REALLY hard to drop them on the desired action space making it almost unplayable I hope they update it quick before I go through withdrawal Love the game but the update is buggy

Even for a mobile game where a lot is handled with code this is pretty complex There is a lot going on Im actually not sure how it is so popular It is difficult too I lost greatly against the AI Id expect a little less complexitydifficulty in a family game Right out of the gate it seems hard to just feed the family The game doesnt seem to want to help you out at all Way to turn farming into a complex competitive sport Id suggest giving hints to new players that are done with the tutorial can turn off in settings Make an easy AI setting too at first to let players get a footing comfortable with gameplay Not all players that play this game are going to be advanced and greatly experienced with the board game Difficult a lot going on

Ive played this game for a while Finally found bugs related to the Cattle Whisperer If I play the card very early in the game and get a cow other actions like Feed Pellets fail I trade a vegetable for a cow a baby cow shows up then later disappears before the breeding stage never to return Once Iundid a turn and my new cow from the Cattle Whisperer disappeared immediately Finally found bugs

Very fun and a bit addicting Visually very well done This game does have some complexity to it so there is a learning curve I read all of the rules and went through all tutorials and am starting to figure it out in the easier Family setting will move on to the more advanced options soon I have never played the board game version One thing a couple of reviewers claim there is a bug regarding converting animals to food this is not true The rules clearly state that after animal breeding you are not able to convert extra animals to food they run away so you will lose them Awesome game

Love the board game but it is labor intensive to set up and load commodities each round and score This app does all this automatically including executing the complicated minor improvements and occupation cards My only request is for a notification when it is my turn in an online game Otherwise i just check every couple of hours or half a day if i forget This is why 5 player games can drag on for weeks Id be willing to pay a monthly subscription for improvements like this this game is well worth it Even better than the board game

Great game great app with two caveats 1 needs an update for iOS 8 as it usually crashes when trying to reopen it after going to another app 1 star 2 has a terrible AI any reasonably experienced player can beat it almost 100 of the time as it makes terrible decisions like choosing 1 animal or 1 resource on a regular basis 1 star Experienced players will only find a good game by going online where there are many good players Fortunately the online implementation is excellent By the way those who are writing that the game does not function right because it doesnt allow you to convert animals to food in the breeding phase are totally incorrect the rules to the board game do not allow you to do this If you do not have room to place animals in the breeding phase you lose them Needs ios8 update
