All-Classical WGBH Radio

The All-Classical WGBH Radio is now available as a free download on Apple Store for both iPhone and iPad owners.The application is supporting English language. It weighs in at only 0.3 MB to download. It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version 2.0 has been released on 2014-11-23. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. I use this app even when listening over the air to help identify the music I am hearing As a result I have learned more about some favorites and have been able to look up more background information on Wikipedia and elsewhere Unfortunately the information is delayed or not even presented for some pieces especially at certain times during the day or night It is frustrating when the only info is so and so s overnight classical or something unhelpful This may not be a defect in the app as such but the overall service is dependent on somebody supplying the proper supporting information                 Needs more reliable background information MissingFiles

I just tried this app for the first time We were listening to a pianist playing a piece by Albeniz and wanted to know who the performer was The app told me it was something entirely different by Gounod A minute later the Albeniz ended and the Gounod was begun The title shouldn t change until the piece does surely or the previous piece should be listed And why not add just a bit more information It is the starkest app I ve ever seen I wouldn t really recommend it until it s improved         Too little too soon GKto2

Update on previous comments based on new release mid May 2016 The addition of info on what is playing is a welcome enhancement Unfortunately it does not seem to fix the issue I noted playing using my iPhone on a 50 50 wi if connection the app periodically drops the connection and does not reconnect until I go into the app The only workaround has been and still is to disconnect from wi go and go with the cellphone LTE connection Yes needs playlists We want to know at least as much as you can get on the web site But more important it keeps dropping out We are on a 50 50 FiOS connection but get more reliable service by turning off that and using the cell phone LTE connection Something is wrong with the way it connects to wifi and recovers from problems it would seem             Needs work WebMaster123

I live in Ohio but my daughter lives in Boston and I just liked listening to this station especially in the morning I also lost the feed and was really upset about it So I decided to explore If you search for the general WGBH app you will find a low bitrate feed that does work It is too detailed to explain here how to find it but if I could figure it out anyone can Just an update I am now listening to the regular version on be wgbh app and not low bit rate                     Also was having trouble shelb724

For months app worked great on my iPod Touch Suddenly no longer worked E mailed WGBH via their website They replied working on the prob Tried deleting reinstalling to no avail Tried again a few minutes ago Still not working They suggested trying the Tune In Radio app That is satisfactory During a program the app cuts off and you need to restart it Otherwise Tune In is pretty good             Same problem as y all Martha-Gee

WGBH now has three classical music streams 1 the WGBH HD 2 WCRB stream which streams the 99 5 FM station 2 the WGBH Early Music Stream which specializes in the Medieval Renaissance and Baroque periods and 3 the WGBH Tanglewood Stream Boston Symphony broadcasts and recordings This app only streams the first Other radio apps e g the wonderful TuneIn Radio app provide access to these and other streams So while I regularly listen to WGBH s classical streams rarely use this app to do it     Actually NOT all the Classical WGBH Streams Newtonian2
