I don t read every issue of AOPA Magazine like I used to Not EZ to download and forget about it if traveling and not on wifi Not so EZ george13973

I wanna like it but so many things are wrong format is literally the print layouts Not tuned for digital delivery at all reloads every time I go background to foreground it s slow It s nearly useless on a phone sized screen Missed the mark radvas

Well it s the paper version plus a few videos It s alright it saves paper The video links do work for me But it would be really nice if the app actually would remember where I left off in a downloaded issue In fact it is amazing that such comments have been ignored for so long 2104 2017 the above got done However the catalogue splash screen takes an eternity to load and it seems to want to do that every day even if I m still reading the same issue Annoying Annoying towcub

This is the worst magazine app I have It is constantly loading catalog multiple times It times out downloading frequently If you try and delete archives a couple of times the app will always crash even with the latest IOS No ability to bookmark or tag articles It s a very basic reading app at best Bottom line terribly slow to load catalogs or any issue So like other reviews if you ve got lots of free time to wait it sort of works But so buggy and NO SUPPORT Terrible app not updated in over a year Monty Lee

If you have patience a fast network connection a fast device and not much ambition this app may meet your expectations Otherwise not so much The start up Catalog and Issues page can take a few minutes to load even on a 250Mb s network connection and you can t do anything while it s loading even if you re only interested in looking at one magazine If you re on a mobile network with a data cap watch out it ll burn a lot of megabytes loading stuff If you have a slower device you ll always see a blurry unreadable version of every page which will eventually clear up after significant delay Even on fast devices it s blur first just more quickly replaced by a crisper version which gets fuzzy again if you zoom in on it and won t clear up then Although the app is all about looking at text and pictures they cannot be selected no text or image copy is possible so forget about sending that interesting paragraph or photo in email to your friends To keep life interesting the app will occasionally crash or refuse to run when iOS gets updated or sometimes randomly when it isn t In short this is not a web browser a PDF previewer or anything like that it s a slow poorly implemented picture gallery view of the magazines Yes it s an improvement over dead trees Works but not quickly or intelligently ProtonBalloon

I like being able to go to a page or department that I like Have not had any trouble with it at all but I am using it as a reading issue app only Sure is better than trying to sort through paper mags that pile up Great app Pilot mds

App works great and it s very convenient to read the issues on my IPad instead of my p c but this app is a space hog Almost 1gb and it s the largest app by far that I have Trim it down people Too large Flyr27

Was a stellar app until the last two versions Love the magazine and content just has a bug that switches between loading catalog and loading magazines So I have to hit the menu tab really fast to get to the magazines Otherwise I love it App support goes to error 404 so how to report the bug Pretty Good wyofisher

If you only want to read the normal Pilot publication it s not a bad app But I prefer the Turbine Pilot version which it seems like I can only access if I log out and then log back in every single time Also forget trying to use this app if you re outside the US For some reason accessing the database from a non US ISP causes the app to lose its mind and give up Lots of potential here if they could only iron out the wrinkles One glaring issue Captain Steve

The app has always been sluggish with odd behaviors while downloading a magazine Lately it has become essentially useless where even a downloaded magazine is slow to appear from page to page The app is now deleted in favor of downloading PDFs Poor app NewMac

The app is awesome when it decides to download the magazines and deserves a five star rating for content alone but there are some glaring faults that are major detractors causing the app to be average at best Too often every time I try I will download a magazine and then try to update a back issue and when I do all magazines past and present cease working So I log off and back on and settle forwarding whatever was previously downloaded In a world where there are hundreds thousands of magazines and they mostly work flawlessly I don t see what the issue is Perhaps AOPA isn t willing to put the money into an app that represents the same quality and precision that is required of the pilots they represent or perhaps the developers of the app are pulling the wool over their eyes and simply need to be replaced Developers need to be educated reidballard

This app used to work on my iPad Air Now it crashes numerous time while downloading and read the magazines With this poor service you should be sending us the paper magazines or fix you App I pay a membership fee and expect that I should be able to read the magazine Not working anymore funk74

I installed this on a brand new iPad air 2 that is a week old and completely up to date on maintenance as of December 2015 I do have A digital subscription I called AOPA and their support was no help whatsoever Another company develops and maintains the app and there is no way to get in touch with them AOPA said they would forward my issue on to the developers but cannot promise that this issue will be addressed at all They declined my request to be put in touch with the developers directly I m updating this a few days later and I ve increased my rating The problem I was having was because I was using my default password is the same as my AOPA password The problem is the AOPA a site allows special characters and the app does not in the password I changed my AOPA password to not have special characters and everything was fine Doesn t work on iPad air 2 Giancini

App is easy to use and downloads are quicker than before I like the fact I can read the current and back issues on the go without carrying the paper versions Embedded links make cross referencing easy as well AOPA Magazine App Viper969

On IOS 7 the app was usable but on IOS 8 I cant get a magazine to load without crashing From the aopa home page you can read your magazine either in a browser or iBooks Dont bother with this app IOS 8 makes it unusable

I am a big supporter of AOPA so I write this with great sadness It seems they have lost the opportunity to up their game and offer a fine written product for easy reading on the iPad The other recent reviews are all to the point There has been no update of the platform since mid2013 Clearly they do not seem care It is time to reevaluate Attracting new members who are iPad and iPhone literate is critical for AOPA to survive A disaster

Since last update I can not connect to catalog Receiving message to connect to Internet when I am connected App has never been stable I stopped using over a year ago due to bugs still unusable Non functional

This app is horrible When the calendar was about to flip from 2014 to 2015 I figured it was time to get with the program No more paper Ill do the digital subscription Hideous Downloaded the Jan 2015 mag plus cool I can take the nov and dec 2014 issues with me on Christmas vacation and catch up Not so much Crashes EVERY TIME I flip a few pages Nothing to read on my crappy airline flight to MN Instead should have flown the Cessna and brought the paper copies Fix this piece of crap Regret switching to electronic subscription

The new update causes the app to crash all the time now and cant open older issues anymore because of the crashing Are you listening

As a long time supporter and member of your AOPA I look forward to my magazine subscription each month to keep me tied in to that large community of pilots teachers and enthusiasts that AOPA serves I travel quite a bit so having access to the digital edition of the magazines on my iPad is very convenient However as I am hopefully sure you are aware based on the overwhelmingly negative reviews of your digital magazine app it rarely functions properly I like the format of it and when it actually does work the functionality is promising But the thing is it just doesnt often work properly and is highly unreliable The only constant that you can count on is that the app WILL crash I just recently took a flight and was reading the Feb edition of Flight Training and I counted TWENTY SEVEN TIMES that I had to restart the app after crashes in order to complete it Thats just not acceptable I would assume you agree Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the app numerous times but this does not solve the issue So when I went on the iTunes support page for the app it did not surprise me that almost unanimously your readership of the digital edition are dealing with the same problems What DID surprise me shockingly was that there were NO updates to the app or fixes to address the problems since April 2013 That means its been almost TWO YEARS since anyone has attempted to respond to the concerns and frustrations of your members and readership I understand that fixes dont necessarily come overnight but TWO YEARS Unacceptable As a devoted member and supporter of what AOPA stands for I imagine you can understand how terribly frustrating this is especially since I am no longer receiving the paper edition I implore you to PLEASE take the complaints seriously and address the issues so that not only can your members enjoy the reading of your magazines uninterrupted but AOPA can also restore confidence that your members voices are actually being heard Flabbergasted at customer support for this app

Spent an hour loading up all the prior issues a while back When I got the email a new issue was ready to download it no longer can load the catalog and it seems Ive lost all my downloaded magazines as well Guess the last update was not properly tested Stopped working loses downloaded mags

This app makes it so frustrating to read AOPA magazines as you are constantly having to reload the app and navigate back to where you were I so wish AOPA would put members first rather than dollars and publish through Zinio or Apple Both of those work so much better More crashes never gets better

Its really frustrating if you get even the app to open it crashes after flipping few pages Thats poorly development it should work like AOPAs junk mail adds getting flooded with life insurance offers and other crap but you folks cant make a simple app work Crashes all the time

I like to do as much as I can paperfree Sure it saves a tree but mostly because it keeps everything less cluttered and easily accessible I was very excited to learn of this app to read the magazine they offer Sadly the app is junk And it seems to only have been getting worse over the last few years Slow clunky inefficient a terrible memory and storage space hog bad code slow downloads the list continues Im curious why its so bad I can only assume theyre using a generic app for this as the Aviation Electronics magazine uses the same app with a different name but same problems Perhaps its not AOPA but this thirdparty thats the problem With all the donations its worth investing a bit in a more userfriendly app or a company that can provide one A lot of pilots are moving to electronic flight bags and having one of their favorite magazines available would be nice Im finding it hard to continue to justify my annual subscription and membership after a number of years just to receive a magazine Well see what happens when Im due to renew Please AOPA use some of the funds youre always seeking to spruce up the services on the front line like the magazine A lot of new electronicbased pilots and a lot of veterans of the magazine will appreciate it From Marginal to Worse

At first I was frustrated with the update just as many others are but once I logged out and back in to the app everything seems to work very well for me I tried many issues to make sure there was no glitches Please give this a try and I hope it helps I have an iPhone 6 with iOS version 813 Works well for me

I have the very latest iOS v8 I can download and view AOPA Pilot but the app constantly crashes It disappears and sends me back to the desktop when I restart I have lost my place in the document and must reopen the document and browse to where I left off Practically useless Constantly Crashes on my iPad 2
