AP Stylebook

As an educator this is a handy app to have at my fingertips                 Nice to have

This app is actually quite good unfortunately when we add in the my entries and if we write by using a few paragraphs when we go to read again all paragraphs that will be lost All will be one paragraphs That very difficult to read Can u fix it with new updates Coz with 2499 pricethis includes app that very expensive but not optimal     Where a PARAGRAPH

I purchased this app for 26 wayback when But now with the update it needs to be synced to an online account This is utter BS You should have grandfather us over since we were diligent enough to actually spend the outrageous money in the first place I want to have access to this service but to not have to pay for an online subscription     Ripped off

Its so clear and easy to use it beats carrying around the book Awesome little gadget D                 Awesome

Like everyone else here I paid the onetime 35 for this app back in 2010 After the update it now requires a login and ongoing payments presumably If you had the old version buyer beware Do not update this app under any circumstance     Ripoff Alert Dont Update

You know it still says right on your website that If you have a freestanding Stylebook Mobile app you can continue to use that app indefinitely You will not receive updates to the content so it will become more out of date as time passes much like using an aging print Stylebook And since I actually have two or three old print editions at home I was thinking you lying thieves might like to drop by some time and steal those too I bought your stupid iOS app several years ago and if I recall correctly it commanded a stupid price 2499 or something like that It would still be listed in my Apple account purchases BUT today when I went to use your stupid app I discovered that it is now a login page for your absolutely rapacious subscription service I have absolutely zero desire to connect my account to your outrageous money funnel What I want is the app MY app back You made that same claim about it being mine in perpetuity back then which was part of my purchasing decision So which is it are you liars Or thieves Or both I want my app back     Lying Thieves Will Steal Your App

The AP stylebook has been a mediocre app for years but at least I had a basic stylebook Now with the most recent update Ive lost the stylebook getting instead a client for logging into the AP stylebook online for 2600 a year No thanks     Do not update

I will echo what others have said about how unacceptable it is to have paid 35 for a singe years stylebook that has now been taken away from us Weak AP I cant believe Apple is letting this happen and I cant believe the AP would be so outright thievish Is that an acceptable word I dont know because I cant access my stylebook anymore     Paid for content I can no longer access

I paid 35 for this app five years ago I didnt necessarily expect annual updates but that was fine But now Ive been locked out completely from my purchase Unacceptable     Ruined it

Is it even allowable under Apples terms of service to do what the AP Stylebook has done I have been using a version of the app from a few years ago quite happily waiting for an update Suddenly an update comes through and POOF my stylebook is GONE and Im told to sign into an AP Stylebook Online account which I do not have and do not want to have So youve taken the 25 or so that I spent for the app and basically stolen it Its one thing to not update it but to rescind it outright cannot be OK with Apple Furthermore I do not want to have to be online to use the Stylebook I want it to reside on my phone     You stole my stylebook

Im a big fan of the printed Style Guide but this portable version is riddled with missing information and bugs For instance the entire Weather Terms section is missing This is in need of a major patch Until it comes dont bother     Buggy guide

I bought the app last year for a staggering 25 I have never paid that much for an app but since it was a digital book that was mine forever I justified the purchase as a good investment Now I find out with the update you have stolen my book That cant even be legal to rescind a book I already bought and try and make me pay for it again Im furious I will not repay for something I already paid you for     Where is the app I paid 25 for

For the reviewer that didnt get what was expected I can understand the reaction But it then can only be the case that heshe has never seen the printed Stylebook The iPhone App is a terrific incarnation of this AP Bible of many years Kudos to AP Expensive but worth every penny It would be nice if purchasers of this App could for free be members of APs full blown online Ask the Editor instead of ponying up another 25 annually for that But either way AP is on track with these new offerings                 Stylebook App Shines

Very very useful Super convenient to search the app than flipping through the book and its always with you The app must have been fixed since these reviews because I havent had any problems at all                 Love it

Agree 100 percent with my fellow users I would have at least liked the option to keep the old content I spent money on Just like an old hard copy edition I live with the knowledge I may not have the latest and greatest info but it still has use for a time until I decide to buy a new version I didnt get a choice here     Not happy Bob Not happy

Every time I try to open a category in the stylebook is shuts down I havent been able to use it since I got it Its there a bug in it for some     Wont launch

Im a basic photographic instructor at the Defense Information School where we teach our future military public affairs and photojournalists their craft Unfortunately we have to use 2006 versions of the stylebook which works most of the time but its nice to have solid uptodate info The ap does it Within the first hour I put it to use a dozen times The price is a little steep but if the book is updated the price will be worth it                 Will use this ap a lot

They stole my app with the new update I want my app back as stand alone Was perfectly happy with that     Rip off

Prompt answers to all of your editing questions As an editor I can say this is truly a home run Indispensable reference to anyone that really cares about the quality of their writing                 Right on AP

This is ridiculous I purchased this app in 2010 with the promise that my one time purchase would get me the annual updates automatically This never happened despite my complaints and many new apps regardless I made do Now they finally update and they make it impossible to use because I need to synch with an online account I never created because its an app The company is corrupt Poor business practices I suggest you simply use google search     Less than acceptable

As a reporter that focuses on online content this app is everything I need Its not practical to have a copy of of the stylebook with me at a school board meeting or a convention where i am posting live news stories to our web This app is quick and it functions perfectly The feature that allows you to input your own entries is key also Our paper has some specific style items which makes it great for quick reference                 A must for reporters on the go

As a communications writer and as a selfdescribed AP Style nazi I find this app very valuable for daily work Usability is good and functionally it works quite well I like the ability to add my own entries or to add personal notes to existing entries There are two improvements Id like to see First the entries in this app are not updated very frequently in fact Im not sure when they are I regularly receive emails from AP about updates to the Stylebook I just got one the other day about changes to international datelines which are reflected in the online Stylebook but are not updated yet in this app Second and related to the first Id like to see some integration with the online Stylebook For instance when I make an amendment or personal note online Id like to be able to see it in the app and vice versa              Valuable resource

I bought this app when it first launched I also understood I would get the annual update free Now the app requires a login which was never set up with the initial purchase I called support and was told Id get a call back yesterday Im still waiting     Bye 30

The prior versions of the Stylebook app were oneshot deals sort of like buying an iBook which probably would have been a better was to do it They could not be updated even midyear you had to buy a new version at full price every year An annual subscription to the Stylebook Online is less expensive than the app was and is updated instantly Its also downloaded to the app so you have the information offline The only question will be whether it stays loaded after the subscription runs out that would necessitate paid renewal every year whereas I was buying the app version alternate years On the other hand the app my latest is 2012 does not disappear nor lose its effectiveness with the addition of this one its like having a slightly older Stylebook which is not uncommon in the newsrooms Ive worked in Obviously people who want to redownload their older app will be disappointed because its been removed from the store too common I think with apps But if they have it on a computer they have lost nothing                 Better solution I think

I bought this as a standalone app not a subscription I never had a login all the content was on my device with the app Now in an update youve erased what I paid for and made the app completely useless What a scam Dont buy it     AP are crooks

I am a writer and an editor This app fails to provide the requisite style and usage tools necessary for my work and craft It lacks scope it lacks basic usage information where is the em dash or the en dash and it is oftentimes incorrect At most it is worth onethird of what I paid Even at that price however I would be disappointed in its offering        Too expensive for content that is lacking

I love this app because I love the AP Stylebook but I mistakenly thought my 25 included periodic updates Clearly it doesnt Im very frustrated for example that the email entry is now out of date due to APs recent shift to email Seems like it would be a simple thing to push out those updates The whole point of an app is that its not limited to the physical constraints of a book Making me buy an annual edition to get the latest information is missing the point At 25 its already one of the most expensive apps available but Id pay a few bucks more at the time of initial purchase if I knew my stylebook would literally NEVER be out of date           Excellent but needs autoupdating

This app offers some helpful editing info but not too much more than I can dig through and find in my 4th 5th grade kids grammar books I spent the 30 hoping this would give me the editing help I need        Waste of

Good app for anyone who uses the AP Stylebook but it sorely needs updating Thereve been lots of changes since this version came out almost a year ago              Needs Updating

First off this app needs to be a universal app given how many writers now have iPads Its not like there are a lot of graphics that would need to be rebuilt so its sort of strange that it hasnt happened to date Secondly the AP regularly puts new style rulings on its website but none of that is reflected within this app when it would be trivial to either have it pull the information in via a feed or to at least have the content bundled into regular updates Finally no one or at least not many people want to end up buying multiple Stylebook apps The 2011 and beyond updates would work great as an inapp purchase allowing us to keep one app on our iOS devices and know wed always have access to the latest version I have no other quibbles other than ones related to the sometimes silly AP style honestly why are there so many required ways to write fundraiser and view this as an essential app for journalists especially print and online ones              Good for 2009 needs to step up in 2011

I paid a hefty fee for this app awhile back Now I have to pay again to sync with the updated versions This is ridiculous Why arent I grandfathered in to the new updates as that is what was promised to me by this company when I made the original purchase Apple Do Something     Crooks

I too an extremely unhappy with what I consider the theft of property I bought and paid for I have never paid that much for any other app but I did it because I was paying for what was advertised Now youve pulled a bait and switch and it is completely unacceptable I want my money back and I will make a point to register a complaint with Apple     Unacceptable

An app I paid for has disappeared from my phone and in its place is an offer to buy an updated stylebook The digital version I paid for a few years ago has been stolen from me Ill stick with the old fashioned wirebound book from now on At least you cant come to my house and steal THAT the next time you update the stylebook     Thieves
