This is one of the best ASL apps I ve ever purchased I refer to this app more than any other ASL app I have on my phone or iPad I ve rely on this app to give me the accurate ASL sign for words I m trying to learn Also it provides written English sentences translated in ASL with choices to see English ASL or both at the same time You can view videos at normal speed or slower There s information on ASL grammar to you understand the proper word or when signing in ASL This is the app for anyone who is serious about learning ASL Love this app                     Best ASL app Sign language for life
A waste of money The first word I tried to look up wasn t there It was a common word     Teacher $896
I m still learning how to use that ASL after change my English                     This is very great educational for you NapoleonLDWL13
This app worked great until recently iOS updates Now I get an error message when I try to view a video Sometimes if I keep hitting retry it will finally work Also I can t find a place to inform the developers of this problem Hope it is fixed soon             Error Message J...M
This app was not very good it only had like 50 of the words I needed don t get it         Terrible 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼
Requesting additional words grace almighty glory and being Thank you Great app                     Request Boxing123456
This is an awesome app to help you learn ASL Used it during my college courses referring back to it many times to check on signs                     Helpful Tool Jasnic Barcan
This app functions as an dictionary easy to look up words But also a whole section to review grammar and syntax and one that organizes by topic These categories make it easy to review for example numbers or ages For new vocabulary individual words can be view at normal or in slow playback Most have sample sentences as well A welcome resource especially for when I am away from my computer and my library of ASL references Works well on both iPad and iPhone                     Dictionary and Grammar tool ElizabethKW, CT
This app has been incredibly helpful for studying ASL It may not have as many definitions as a few other apps but I still use it the most because of its great features and interface It provides similar definitions you can slow down and or loop videos there are example sentences grammar help and more By far my favorite feature is that in the options you can download all the videos under 200mb for offline use without an Wifi cell connection So you can study on a plane ride while camping or if you have an iPod touch and you re not near wifi                     Great Study Aid EasyasASL
This is REAL ASL that is being used We are being let in on a little secret inside look to real syntax and signs and not the ones taught in community classes that are so Englishy ASL is NOT English on the hands Excellent excellent resource especially for the price I m in ASL IV level ITP program and we still are only scratching the surface of how the syntax of the language truly is This is for people who want to know the language deeply not for beginners teaching their babies learn to sign Great app                     Phenomenal app PAH Kdl88
Diverse and comprehensive dictionary But it really shines in the small details ability to show the sign in slow motion example sentences similar signs search alphabetically or by category Grammar section HUGE Help etc As a beginning signer this is a must have                     Fantastic resource for cheap friend32
This is my favorite sign lanuage app for many reasons but the main reason I keep coming back to it is it s one unique feature it shows similar signs Why is this so awesome How many times have you seen a sign you don t know but unlike a written language there is no way to look the definition of a sign up Instead you have to keep bothering your poor friends to death for definitions all the time lol So when I see a sign I don t know now I can think of a sign that looks similar look up that sign and then drill down to the similar signs Bam I have found the definitions to so many signs this way Just a bit ago I was able to find the the sign for appoint by looking up a similar sign find which looks a bit like it My recommendation to the Developers Keep developing this part of your app because there is nothing else out there like it But it is still in the infancy faze Mnay similarities still need to be added For instance under the sign for goal you could put the similar sign stars and visa versa If you fully develop the similar sign feature you will have created the closest thing to a Sign to English dictionary ever made possible                     The closest thing to a Sign to English dictionary SilverHairM
This continues to be one of my favorite sign language apps The optional download for off line mode is a welcome addition and works very well And thanks for fixing the bug where the app crashed when selecting numbers other than those starting with 1 Pros The interface is clean and easy to use The signs used are almost always identical to the variations used by the deaf where I live California Signing is done by a variety of people Sometimes the choice of example sentences are unusual and unexpected but I find them a great way to stretch my sign language skill The similar signs slow speed and repeat options are also great additions The optional download makes it easy to have everything available when you do not have Internet access such as on an airplane or when you have a Wi Fi only iPad Landscape mode works well on an iPhone 6 Cons The app needs to show a gloss of the ASL rather than or in addition to a standard English sentence I find that a literal word for sign translation helps me learn the structure of ASL and the relationship of it and English The app needs synonyms For example the app separately defined large and big as the same sign but there is nothing in either definition that tells me that they are the same sign I would love to have a history of the last 20 or 30 words I ve searched for I would like to see a search based on hand shape used such as the Y hand I did this with Google s image search when I first started with ASL It can be a challenge but it helped and I would love to see the function in an app One bug still needs to be fixed the app almost always crashes if I use dictation voice to text in word search Thanks again                     Excellent update Thank you SeriouslyDave
Because this app is run by NTID it s always being updated and the signs are always accurate with the mainstream deaf culture unlike many other apps Totally the app to get if an ASL Studies or Interpreting student Get it                     Helps me so much lou_swagga
Very useful and user friendly Worth the 1 99                 Neat App rsbetc
This is a no brainer purchase for anyone needing a handy reference for ASL It s especially useful for those who want to look beyond vocab and understand the particulars of ASL grammar and usage The new version is modern and clean looking and I m glad the videos are now hosted in the cloud                     Slick comprehensive intuitive William Poor
PLEASE change it back to where you do not have to have the internet I use to love this app until the latest update I would use this app all the time and now I can only use it when there is an Internet connection It took away the reason I got the app It does not help me when I am at work if the interpreter cancelled and I cannot look up some of the vocabulary to explain it the person I like the new things you have added     DO NOT UPDATE Medicgigg
I love this app and use it several times a week as an ASL minor I especially like how there is an example of how the sign is used in a sentence My only real problem is that there is no fast way to get back to the top to use the search If I m down in the W s it takes a long time Yes I can select the A s on the side and shorten my scroll but on the phone I often hit the info button A back to top or fast scroll would make this wonderful app even better                     KISS FIST His Rowdiness
You can t slow down the video and there are no explanations of how why to move your hands You just have to see every inflection the signing person is using and video isn t all that clear I would give it 0 stars I want my money back     No explanations Silver B-G
From a certified interpreter Great for any interpreter s tool kit 100 accuracy from NTID Not totally ideal for beginners b c video is fast                     Excellent 4 Interpreters Talon80
I really like this app My only wish is that it had a replay button so you are not immediately taken back to the list of words                 Great Addition Gaybladepgh
This is a superb reference By all means get it                     Luv it Sir signal or
Now that I m picking up on my vocab I needed something to help me with the more abstract phrases and English idioms I want to make sure I m being a good language model for my 7 year old even though she s way ahead of me Now I feel like I can communicate even better with her especially when my Deaf adult friends aren t around to catch my errors                     Thank you smirfkin
The search by category is a well constructed feature and the inclusion of idioms and lexicalized signs is great It has a large amount of countries which is great Would prefer if the app would give more control over the video like ability to loop or slow down Also would like to see profanity added and more idioms if possible             Good Stalemilk
It has lots of vocab choices and the videos show real people signing and it s not just the same person throughout but it has NO slow motion and NO repeat options so it is limited as a learning tool Some of the signs are so quick I can t see what they are doing at all             Good start 2911alison
Definitely worth the cost I love it It s great to use in conjunction with my book for the signs I m just not sure about                     Great Austen Girl
Can we PLEASE get a slo mo option                 Too fast Emily Anastacia
I love the amount of words just wish the videos weren t so fast                 Nickijames
Fantastic I went to school at RIT NTID They have the knowledge and experience to make this app perfect and can be used by not just hearing who want to learn but by Terps who need a mobile resource and students who are HOH who need to learn that are attending NTID or ASL students learning at other schools too This is also great for emergency personal who need a basic knowledge to interact with us DEAFies I great bargain for 2 in comparing a heavy dictionary at 60 Amanda pulisciano                     ASL Dictionary shopgrlz
About the app Vocabulary When you first go in scroll all the way down to the bottom After ten or so fast scrolls of my thumb I m only at section C There is a good chunk of words in here Click on a word The video will play but probably too soon so go to the little i button main page and there will be an option to delay the before and after of the video This gives you some time to prepare Click on the arrow next to the word There will be at least on sentence option where you can see the sign in a sentence NOTE it is all ASL and they sign pretty fast so if you re just starting out it will be hard Other features Other features include being able to turn off the English translation on the sentence button boxes until after you ve watched the ASL Overall this would probably work better if you ve had some experience with ASL already The signing is really fast and many of the videos cut off too early and too late for you to see the whole sign into completion much like saying Appl if you re trying to say Apple which is sometimes frustrating but if you watch a few times you ll get it I d definitely recommend this app for those who ve already begun to learn some of the grammar and syntax of ASL                     Good Resource xBirdwingsx
I think this is an excellent resource I am using it to teach myself ASL Yes the sentences are fast but it helps you learn how true users of ASL communicate Thank you                     Wonderful Learning Tool MaGandPaA
I like the vocabulary choices and the signers are very clear I don t like that the app freezes which causes a delay in sign completion         I expect better v1 0 Squishyfloat
The price for this app is appropriate although I still have to keep some ASL free apps on my iPod because there aren t that many simple words I think there should be an update for more words and have an option to somehow slow the video down some words are just too fast There should also be a favorites list at least it would make my life easier                 Good Katrina Rider
When I read all the great reviews about this app I thought I was onto something However this app freezes almost every time I open it Also the words are very limited I couldn t even find the sign for truck when I wanted to teach the sign to my non verbal grandson This app is not what it was made out to be         Not worth the money melt7355
I purchased this ASL Dictionary when it was first made available on CD Rom from NTID for 50 10 years ago and used it constantly in my work as a Teacher of the Deaf and interpreting To find it s only 1 99 now as an app on my phone that I have access to anywhere I go is a phenomenal deal A must have for anyone who works in the field or who wants to learn sign Thank you so much to the team at NTID that developed this I will spread the word about this incredible resource                     Invaluable resource Central New Yorker76
Works well videos are great                     Very cool guide Dmachine
I really like this app The signing is so natural and it s really well put together I can even test myself by turning the ASL or English sentence translations on or off Fantastic                     Worth every penny emiliaki
Wow This is really great So many signs and SO many sentences My teacher says this is the most authoritative one out there Very much worth a couple bucks                     Excellent resource Tedisted
The worst thing about this application is the name DIG which is a mnemonic for Dictionary and Inflection Guide It is the result of a long standing project at the NTID to build a comphrensive video dictionary that existed earlier as a subscription website and a CD The application has two major components a dictionary called Signs and categorized collections of signs called Categories it has eliminated some of the more sophisticated capabilities of the website and the CD The dictionary allows for both searching by entering a word or by browsing alphabetically The category component organizes signs into related groups for example Countries Novel categories are Lexicalized Fingerspelling and Idiomatic Signs which are handy references The sign models are all native speakers and the videos are clear A nice feature is that multiple variants are given for some words At 2 700 words it is competitive with many conventional paper ASL dictionaries This is another application that is a worthy addition to anyone s tool kit for when you are mobile It is self contained and does not require any network connectivity which means you can use it anywhere including on an airplane It does not appear to have any significant bugs The CD is a great companion when you are in front of your desk top                     A Great Addition to Your ASL Tool Kit Deaf Mark
I like the vocabulary choices and the signers are very clear I dont like that the app freezes which causes a delay in sign completion        I expect betterv10
