Battle Map

I love this app and use it for my game night by hooking it up to an old LCD monitor I have lying on my table We use the miniatures right on top The new update has a great new skin but it completely lost the rotate display ability on the iPhone 5 This renders my app useless with my monitor because it wont go to landscape mode Please fix this as soon as possible     Major Bug for External Displays

Gets the job done I was able to finish my GI Joe board game rendering in 30 minutes I hope the developer adds more objects and token pieces soon More power                 Great App

Projecting through the Apple TV is the perfect setup Players love it new maps can be created in minutes Limited tiles but a lot a variation is possible with a little creativity Held off on the purchase for awhile but went ahead when I heard 2 will be a free updateshould have bought it months ago Cant wait for the next version                 Amazing

This app is wonderful Its got all the features I wanted in my DnD sessions with no typical pitfalls of iOS apps like ads or obnoxious IAP This map maker harkens back to the days of the Warcraft II map maker with graphics to match the era Love the simplicity love the functionality Most Valuable Feature award goes to the Apple TV Player View mode where I get to keep fiddling with the map without eveyone seeing the hidden rooms and treasure hoards I even love the menu and terrain SFX                 My Fantasy Come True

Was a bit doubtful at first but this app far surpasses my expectations Map creation is easy and intuitive with gorgeous results The app itself can be used for gameplay but the fact that it supports multiple alternatives simply using the app as a board or printing the maps out makes this extremely powerful Not only that but the object creation and background importing offer tremendous levels of customization that make this useful for even the most unique dungeon masters Simply incredible Worth every cent Hopes for the future more items to purchase saves me the trouble of making my own ability to create custom background tiles more customization on custom object creation definable size automatic default settings Awesome app One of my best purchases yet                 Awesome

This is an amazing app I use in in may store Pathfinder Society and several other RPG events I use with Apple TV and it works great This app is worth every penny of the price If you GM any RPG you wont regret getting this                 Bernie63

I had rated this app highly in part because of the developers interactions with the community but it seems that support for the app has stopped and this has made me lower my review Hoping to see updates resume so that I may increase my rating again Check out roll20net instead     Good but no longer supported

Seems like a good app so far It is very expensive for network gamingplayers should not all have to pay 999 just to viewinteract with the map There needs to be an inexpensive client app for viewing and interacting with groups           Good but needs client

Map making is fun and easy I havent run a game with it yet but I know it go very smoothly with the use of AirPlay over my Apple TV My only complaint is that the use of airplay with the app doesnt fill the TV screen It would be nice if on the iPhone you could turn it landscape while in the app This would be enough for me to give this app 5 stars              Great app

Sadly this application looks like it would do everything I need it to do I Still am so excited to use it but right now its not usable The problem is with the iPad mini retina the grid continues to freak out and not display properly What a let down Sure hope the developers fix this glaring bug soon Will totally change this review if they do but at the moment i just want to make iPad mini users aware of the app breaking bug     Trouble with iPad mini retina

I was so excited to play this app for a year now Once I finally bought it I was jumping for joy Until I tried to open it it crashes and your not able to play the game Plz fix     Dont buy

increase the number of custom objects in the library please allow the insertion of objects of any size Please fix                 The best

This needs to be cheaper considering what you get I also wish I could have tried it before buying it I would not have bought it if I had tried it Its not worth the money and I wish I could get it back There arent that many icons to use and you cant create back to back rooms like you see in modules The best you can do is layout rooms that WILL have a battle in it and not worry about the rest of the rooms Since I cant get my money back itll sit on my iPhone iPad gathering dust     Disappointment

I like it but it needs the following in order of importance 1 Absolutely MUST be capable of external display via a projector tv or pc monitor in landscape mode As it currently stands I lose way too much real estate when I try to display on any of those devices and iOS devices all start too small in the first place 2 An option to move characters via click without auto centering the map would be nice Moving characters actually just seems a little clunky Sometimes moves the character when I just want to move the map 3 A few wall type backgrounds with a different look would be great 4 More decorations would also be nice For the way I want to use this thing a bunch of NPC and character objects are kind of useless           Good but could use more polish

It was a tough decision to spend 30 on an app I cant give you an unequivocal yea or nea vote but a few key points to consider The app mostly works as promised Most notably the dual monitor view using AirPlay is great Landscapes and icons are nice and iCloud works well even prompting me to reconcile conflicting versions of maps across my iPad and iPhone I am going to use it for the next few sessions That said here is what doesnt work so great 1 Way too few free icons You can mitigate by importing from various free sets Just google for them However your imported icons dont sync across devices so you may want to import on each if building on multiple 2 Line of sight isnt great There are lots of leaks revealing things prematurely Doors are especially quirky I found that placing them in the middle of a square is your best bet 3 Lighting effects are broken I can see a campfire in a room not yet explored 4 Did I mention that there are way too few free icons Insulting to then charge me for small additional packs 5 Finally groups would each have to buy their own copy for a game I guess my group will be sticking with the airplay approach Ending on a positive the developers seem very responsive to FB comments and other feedback           Not enough value for the price

I love this app its saving me a lot of time while letting me have highquality maps for my games Great I do have one issue though Im using this to run prepublished modules I pull any battlemaps from the PDFs of the adventures resize and reposition them on my desktop and then set them as a background image on this app It would be a lot better if I could repositon the image inapp in addition to resizing it as is the image is always centered which means the grid on the background image can be difficult to line up with the apps grid As a result I have to jump through a lot of hoops on my desktop to size the image appropriately for the app              Great App Just missing one thing

If your looking for a app that needs a Map Dice Calculator and Characters This is the best app here on the AppStore other RPG apps doesnt do it better than this app here its truly a treasure and I payed full price for this If your buying this at a discount or a special sell then consider yourself lucky Do not have second thoughts about this app its well designed and polished just get it already Im sure you wont regret it I do wish they had a Game Center Leaderboard and achievements that would be a very awesome feature I would really love to see                 Great App Worth every penny

This is a great app Id give it five stars but there are a few features lacking that I think would be necessary for that rating Nevertheless this thing is amazing for face to face play by post remote playand can transition between all these seamlessly              Excellent

This is a really great App I can rapidly put together good looking maps on my iPad and have them ready for my games in no time It beats doing them all on graph paper or spending an arm and a leg on other map creation software I would go five stars but theres no place that I have found to place notes on the maps and I have found a crashing scenario easily avoidable              Well done

I had four maps and they were all gone after the last upgrade I wrote to their help email and never got a response     Updates are dangerous

Its a good app with a few things missing before it becomes great resizing grids in particular Ive readseen some of the changes theyre making to version 2 It is a bit expensive compared to other apps in general I think a 1015 dollar price reduction would do them wonders more than they realize especially if they just gave bonus content to people who bought it at the higher price Its still a good app and I recommend it              Good and getting better

This is an amazing app once I began to use it I fell in love with it The online capabilities really make it stand out I really like the option to hostjoin a game and the implementation of LOS Its only short failings are the lack of a dice roller and lack of a chat function It also needs support for secret doors Some times it fails to load maps from iCloud but Im not so sure thats a fault of the app As always more tokens would be appreciated Also speaking of tiles and tokens they cost extra though some are included in the initial purchase If it wasnt 2999 I would overlook those flaws But that is a bit of a costly price tag Its difficult to convince newcomers in my group to shell out that kind of money but it is well worth it being as there is a lack of other apps to chose from But Watch out 3d tabletop I doing some pretty interesting things and its a whole lot cheaper Battle map 2 better step up its game if it wants to stay on top              Almost perfect

Battle map 2 gets it nearly pitch perfect in my opinion Very intuitive controls and very capable You can map out an adventure and be sharing and running it with players in minutes Is there room to grow Certainly But there is no other RPG map tool that is this capable outside of PCbased apps I think it is well worth the price And I dont think that often with apps in the 10 range                 By a gamer for gamers

I would like to see more npc tokens And a chat box to chat with the players me and my friends have to use texting instead please add in THANKS                 Awesome

If your a GM and have longdistance players this is the app The online play works well and everything is quick and easy to use as it should Did I mention it actually works Ive tried every clunky RPG tabletop sim out there this is the one In fact the only one that works well with no learning curves PS I do wish the dice roller showed me the rolls for my network players Umby              Simply Remarkable

The apps a decent start but by no means is it worth the 10 The features that it comes with are limited and the app crashes frequently        Not worth it

I just spent the past halfhour working on a map and when I reloadedthe app my map was gone Not only that but the inapp purchases are disabled on iOS 51 so iPad 1 users cant get any of the packs I regret wasting my money on this expensive app     Buggy

Ok I am pretty unimpressed with this app now I had high hopes in a newer version and none of the things that were wrong with the first one never got fixed in the second The only new thing about this version is you can buy way overpriced tokens and very few I might add like 10 tokens for 2 dollars and a online connection I have not tested the online play yet but I would have been happy if the problems in the last one were fixed The one thing that they did right was being able to export you maps and not force you to keep the tokens in custom area Problem 1 Custom imports Yeah you can import custom tokens but it is very unorganized You can not tag your custom tokens Problem 2 No tile import function Problem 3 LOS is still terrible I can see through doors at the right angle I made a suggestion to allow triggers to rooms that when triggered like players move across a certain tile allow a predefined line of site of the room That would fix a lot of problems Problem 4 Paying an arm and a leg for tiles and symbols 200 for 10 TOKENS I could possibly see myself paying 200 for like 50 I have said this all of problems 13 before in the last review but since nothing was done to correct this problem I am giving a lower rating This app has great potential Dont ruin it by missing key things that need to be fixed           Fix the problems of the old ver before adding new stuff

This is an amazing app It works fine on my iPad 1 Works perfectly for our Shadowun group here in Nashville The ability to account for LOS and a number of character attributes makes the table experience excellent I would like to see larger and more integrated map levels in the future but this is a must buy for a GM with a tablet                 Perfect for our group

It does not allow you export the map to jpg This means that if you want to print out the map you have to manually zoom to scale take screen shots and then crop out the menu Tokens are also extremely limited Certainly not worth 30 dollars     Stay away

Just bought BM 2 not as an upgrade It loads into a black screen every time on my iPod touch 4 Reinstalling doesnt help I have 15 GB of memory Why doesnt this work     Screen goes black

Dont be fooled by the probably fake good reviews here this is a unprofessional bad product I bought it hoping to recreate my miniatures games on it but it has mostly sat unused on my iPad thanks to unresponsive controls and limited mapping abilities Map size cant be adjusted Importing custom maps is nearly impossible because it crops images that dont fit its predetermined grid Moving characters is a pain because the program cant tell if you are wanting to move them or edit them The map backgrounds that come with the editor are ugly The list of issues goes on Bottom line dont buy this product     Cheap product at ridiculous price

I really like this app Its not perfect but it does enough to enhance our DD sessions I connect the app to a tv via Apple TV and it is awesome for allowing a view for everyone I have imported my own icons which was easy to do and they work flawlessly with the app My only complaint is that object selection when objects become clustered can be tedious Also the life bars are great for hit point tracking and provide a video gamelike visual component but they can be a tad bulky and a minor annoyance But I love the ability to darken the map and use light sources to provide perception limits for the PCs Also hidden objects allow for masking traps until PCs trigger them as well as concealing invisible creatures Nice little function Plus the software team is constantly listening to feedback and providing upgrades Overall this has made me never want to go back to using dry erase markers on a laminated battle grid              Great app

The naming of the characters is lost because of the lack of time taken in the sensitivity of how you can name the characters also this makes game play suffer badly how ever it is still an amazing app however I ask they work on the naming problem              It great app but there is a big bug

This app crashes whenever I paint tiles in editing maps It makes it almost useless to do anything productive on my iPhone 5 And when I project it onto a monitor the screen is unable to rotate into landscape mode It also frustrates me that I bought this app when it was 20 and now its 10 What a ripoff for something that doesnt work for half the time Please fix soon IJG        Crashes all the time

Coming from a background as a DM playing ADD and using Dundjinni I thought to upgrade and try this I purchased it to help create a better environment for my gamers hoping to create a richer environment for them What I have found is that this is fine for square dungeons and buildings However If I am going to use it explore extensive cave networks or even a ship which my party is doing right now it lacks the tools necessary to help draw it out The purpose of a digital map is detail Without high detail I dont see the value in this I really would prefer a selection of pens to create depth Not a lot but just a few Even a fill option would be nice        DMnpls

Its a great tool for making maps However it would be nice to be able to use the light source and LOS tools with a map thats a PDF background Could you just draw lines that break line of sight Or at least give us LOSblocking walls that arent a fullsquare wide              Useful tool

This app is incredible I initially reported a bug which prevented users from restoring and utilizing inapp purchases Razeware fixed the bug in less than 1hr so I can honestly say the support seems much improved from battle map 1 The apps functionality is unparalleled and redefines what it means to be a DM Over the years as an avid Apple product user I have made many purchases for which I was not proud of and often felt cheated This is not one of them This is the best app in its class and should be a real treat to those of you DMs out there getting really tired of pen and paper dungeon maps Thanks again Razeware                 Major Bug for inapp purchases

Could be great as is way way too many bug as is he most annoying of which is to watch maps you spent time on just mysteriously disappear into the aether Crashes often Dark mode does not keep areas of the map unseen until characters have moved to the right LoS just lots and lots of issues For less money I might let it go For 999 plus over priced in app purchases I have to give it a thumbs down        Potential but

Im a lifelong rpggamer who loves mobile technology but lets be real here the idea of this app greatly overshadows its reality The iPad is too small and too unwieldy for the precision work of virtual tabletop gameplay Using a desktop or laptop for a virtual tabletop is a vastly superior experience to Battle Map on an iPad I applaud the efforts of the app creators for exploring a new frontier for keeping our beloved hobby alive but a tablet or God forbid a smart phone is just plain the wrong venue I live my iPad Its hip sophisticated trendy powerful productive and entertaining But its just plain the wrong device for virtual tabletop gaming        Not ready for prime time

I really find this app easy to use and fast on map making however I feel that charging people 099 for five extra tiles is asking a bit much since the app its self was 3000 and if I were to buy all the extra tiles it would run me another 1000 or so Either way one suggestion I do have is a clean up of auto sorting of the tiles Its to messy coming from the first Battle Map              Great App but overpriced IAP
