BeerAlchemy Touch 2

I am an long time user of Promash and have an extensive library I bought this app because I could import my recipes Unfortunately it crashes every time I try to import and I cant get in touch with customer support        Not what I wanted

I find this app extremely useful and not overly complicated As someone new to all grain and just starting to be concerned with infusion stepsadjunctsand choosing the right hops I found it easy to adjust recipe items and immediately see what changes to color bitterness and ABV to expect This not only syncs well with the Mac version but has full features on its own                 Excellent Tool

I purchased this because the price seemed reasonable However it crashes almost every time I use it Whenever I try to input inventory it crashes if I try to select a date other than today it crashes Sometimes it just crashes when I cancel making some input or try to select another menu item Since I downloaded it 10 days ago there have been three new versions and the author has responded to my feedback but until it is more stable I will just go back to using pencil and paper     too buggy

Ive been consistently happy with the results out of Beer Alchemy My only gripe is the difficulty of finetuning the percentages in an existing recipe with the slider bars Please give us a field for entering the percentages directly              Reliable

I keep dabbling with other apps but this one is still the best                 Still the Best Mac Integration

All the features I wish the old version had this one has Great functionality No complaints                 Awesome

Great product for the home brewer I especially like the linked inventory and recipe databases where the app guides you to the beers you can brew based on the ingredients you have on hand Data entry on an I Pad is a little time consuming Support was quick and helpful              Xxxx

Not perfect but definitely the best choice for Mac users Great tool to design recipes track brew stats and keep tabs on inventory in the storeroom Buggy at times but nothing crippling Pricey              Best Mac Brew App

Lacks some customization for pitching yeasts Basic UI Missing some ingredients No way to custom enter ingredients Does have syncing for desktop Fairly detailed areas for mashingextractwater profiles Overall adequate but nothing amazing I went with this app over all other beer apps and am a little underwhelmed I refuse to continue buying apps to supplant what this one lacks after getting Mrmalty           Okay

This app works ok but even with the improvements its still lacking a few things Biggest omissions for me are water volume calculations grist totals and the ability to alter the expected FG I expected a lot more functionality for a paid update           Still lacking

I use this app for every brew and it helps me a great deal especially for creating recipes and tracking what deviations I had on a batch I dont use the calculators very often I have felt more comfortable with the accuracy of some of the online calculators Maybe if I had a better understanding of them Docs The ingredients list seems UK in focus and I have had to adjust or substitute on occasion for what I think the US varieties represent Though this was only work initially a bit of a learning curve and it does not impact my ability to use the program on a daily basis For this release I really like the addition of adding the ability to track warm whirl pooling for its impact on hop additions The new dialogs for entering values less so but there is no loss to the function of the program from the change              Excellent App

I bought this app because it had the best user interface of all the other brewing apps I had tried Then they went and updated it for the worse The recipe modification tools are difficult to navigate and it crashes frequently To make matters worse when they updated to v2 I was forced to pay again Not only for the mobile version but I had to upgrade the 30 desktop version too I paid up and regret it fully This software has taken a turn for the worse and I am back in the market for a better option     Clunky and irritating

This is an extremely versatile and effective program for developing recipes and tracking your brewing experience It is very flexible and adaptable to your particular approach and ingredients It does all of the requisite calculations most in the background without your involvement And importantly the developer is present and responsive to bug complaints user confusion and requests for changes or additions I use it on the Mac and the iPhone All around a Great program                 Top notch program with great support

BeerAlchemy has changed my brewing process by teaching me to collect more data before during and after brew days I primarily enter recipes in the Mac version and enter batches on iOS Im not aware of any other brewing software on either software that is as comprehensive attractive and easy to use Things Id like to see but love the app regardless of 1 batch sparge calculations grain mass temps strike volumes and temps expected boil off volumes etc built into batch sheets 2 effortless sync 3 sharing to external services like Evernote disclaimer I am an Evernote employee 4 alarms given a mash strike time and a boil start time 5 better eg Noncropped photo integration                 Dont worry relax and use BeerAlchemy

I cant speak more highly of this app and the entire family of kent place software I brew almost weekly and this app helps me keep very accurate data on every batch The inventory feature saves so much time and works very well When you enter new ingredients to the inventory you can specify AAU and pricelb Then for each batch you can specify which order of hops to use for different additions and the app calculates proper Ibus I can easily sync between my iPad and MacBook to always have the most up to date info wherever I am Completely worth the price                 Use This Almost Daily

I really liked the previous version but this rewrite is almost an entirely new app and still a little rough around the edges Sync over WiFi only is frustratingly manual and prone to overwrite data The numerical input boxes are frequently confused and need to be completely cleared before entering a value The inventoryorder tracking functionality often seems to drop orders or fail to mark them as shipped In general this is a promising rewrite but it definitely needs work before I would consider it to be a solid app That said a little cleanup may be all it would takeand it works well enough that Im still using it           Little rough around the edges

They are consistently upgrading an adding ingredients Good format easy to navigate                 Best brew app yet

I have been using this app for a few years and love it The calculators help me find my strike temp and step temps My recipes are all there and ready when I go to my LHBS as I can sync between my iPad iPhone The only two things I dont like are that I cant figure out how to add a recipe from the main library into one of my subcategories and there arent built in brew timers I have tried other Homebrew apps but none are as easy and useful as this one              Great app for homebrewing

Yes theres other apps that do this Ive tried several and found that Beer Alchemy is the easiest to use with the best feature set Seriously people buy this app                 The best in the App Store

Although I prefer entry on the Mac the iOS version is better for tinkering on the couch or during a brewing session Inventory shopping and water adjustments all seem much more usable Even though Ill probably never again own an iPhone I can recognize that this being a universal app adds value for some I thought the developer set an extremely reasonable introductory price for upgrades and hope he makes enough to where continuing to improve this app is worthwhile My favorite addition to the Mac version was the All Batches view since I number my batches Id like to see this view make its way to iOS but thats no reason to petulantly withhold a star This is a very good tool for any homebrewer especially as a companion to the Mac app                 Very happy with V2

I have had none of the issues that others ate talking about and i have had BA since the first one Reason i didnt give it 5 stars is the fact that they made me pay for this upgrade not even a discount since i own the original as well as the mac version as well as that I have never been able to sync it with my desktop version              Great solid product that works

Cant tell if bugs are fixed because now after loading it blinks and nothing goes back to home screen     Still broke

Its great for keeping track of brew day results especially with the Mac companion app Really wishing we get iCloud support for seamless recipe updates between apps and devices That and some interface tweaks for ease of use would make this a five star app Very useful as is           With a bit of refinement

Ive been brewing for about three years and I love this app It has its faults a lil clunky and hard to use at times but over all very nice I would recommend this to any new brewer           Pretty good

Been using this app for about 2 months and it is truly helpful when brewing All calculations can be done within the app Syncing is a breeze I have this app on my iPad and on my MacBook Pro When I brew I take my iPad with me and put all my notes in it Then I can sync it with my MacBook and my iPhone I can pull up my recipe stats at the brew club meetings if anyone has a question about my beer So easy to use Keep up the good work with this product                 Great Homebrew App

I use both touch and full version of beer alchemy Have about 25 batches stored now Main complaint related to both versions is that there is NO manual Not in the app and not on the site Second issue with the touch version I wish it included the see all batches screen that I can see on full version This would be helpful because I sequentially number each batch at bottling So if somebody wants to know what hops were in batch 23 that is easy to find on Mac a bit more difficult mobile Overall great software I believe it may be missing some of the features in main competitor but I cant complain about how it works on my apple based toolsMac iPhone and ipad Updatedmanual now available Very good choice if you are a Mac user Would like to be able to see all batches like you can in the full version and would like to be able to sort batches by name date bottled date brewed etc                 Good but needs documentation

As a homebrewer I find this app to be priceless Longtime user of the older and newer versions of BA for Mac iPhone and iPad The new versions enable support for iOS 6 and seamlessly integrate with other iOS devices as well as the desktop application I am able to quickly and efficiently formulate a recipe or pull up an ingredient list no matter where I am for a spontaneous shopping trip It all synchs back so all of my devices have the same recipes and inventory I usually dont pay for apps that I could find for free but having the ability to use a single suite of application for my brewing saves time and makes things more efficient Support for this app is outstanding Any time that Ive found a bug I have emailed support and received an immediate response from the development team Im usually informed that an update has been sent to Apple for review within a day Functionality Convenience integration and support well worth the price of admission                 Seamless Integration Create onthego

Having both the desktop and ipad apps has made planning and executing my brews much easier and streamlined Not difficult to use yet provides a lot of options for the brewer Highly recommend                 Great app well thought out and easy to use

Ive been using beeralchemy for several years now Its always been a great tool buggy here and there but nothing terrible Use it to keep track of the grain room and also allows me to see how much waste there is in the grain room Calculators preform great and the sync feature between iDevices is great                 Best solution for the Mac world

Fantastic Versatile incredibly powerful and feature rich Not cheap but well worth it in my opinionespecially given the excellent exporting options Didnt quite realize it when I purchased it but it really is a full featured inventory system recipe bookdesigner brewing journalbatch log unit converter and more It certainly does it all Overall a great brewing companion Couple of issues I wouldnt mind seeing addressed running on iOS 8 iPhone 6 plus Inventory amounts often incorrectly read as insufficient when amounts needed exactly match amounts in inventory Cannot reenter certain drop down lists immediately after closing them without first backing outreturning It would also be cool to see the addition of hopped malt extracts as well though I can see why they may have been omittednot sure how accurate the IBUs could be                 Great brewing companion

Ive been using a version of beer alchemy for iOS and Mac for about four years I love most everything about this suite of apps and I use them for each recipe and each brew day A couple of relatively minor criticisms that prevent me from awarding 5 stars 1 I would so much prefer syncing in a cloud instead of over wifi If Im creating a recipe on the phone I want it on my mac when I get home Or more importantly I dont want to get to the LHBS only to find that I forgot to sync a recipe from my Mac to my iPhone 2 on the Mac version in the library list there is a selection for batches which brings up a chronological list of all of my batches I would like to see that list view provided on the iOS version Having used these new versions since they came out thats pretty much all I can think of that I dont like              Love this app
