It weighs in at only 5.4 MB to download. The new Books by Sort It! app version 2.4.1 has been updated on 2014-11-27. This is an excellent and easy to use app for cataloguing one s library The scan works well and I like that the app recognizes that certain barcodes may not be unique to a particular book as sometimes happens with mass market paperbacks and will warn you before just guessing a title Scanning is generally quick as well as is the manual search by ISBN function for items that don t have a barcode One cool feature I haven t seen elsewhere at least on a mobile library catalogue database app is the ability to add a back cover image in addition to the front cover image It s not an essential feature for every item or for every user but it s still great to have the option There are a couple of quirks that could stand some improvement however If you scan a book in the app s database that has an author listed with a middle initial the app will sometimes think the middle initial is part of the author s last name which screws up alphabetical sorts by author Yes you can go in and fix this manually but it s a bit of an annoyance that one needs to do that the program should recognize automatically that an initial with a period after it belongs within the first name field not the last name field Another quirk is that although multiple authors can be listed for an item only a single editor can be listed in the editor field unless you list them in the author field instead A minor annoyance but still unnecessary Another oddity although there is a field for publication date it is impossible to enter only a year of publication without designating a month and day as well That s fine if one knows the actual date a book was published but usually only the year appears on the copyright page and since the original publication date isn t in the database entry for any books I ve scanned so far I either have to falsify guess a book s day month of publication or I have to leave any date at all out of the item s record I d like to be able to put in JUST the year A few missing fields that would make the app better for me are purchase retail price current value Library of Congress catalog number current location of item I have no objection to entering this info manually for the relevant item s I just want a field in which to put the info I hope the developer will incorporate some of the improvements or fixes I mentioned above because the full version app is not exactly inexpensive at 9 99 and at that price the quirks annoyances really need to be fixed for the app to deserve a 5 Star rating Nonetheless this app is a worthwhile purchase especially if you have a large collection you wish to catalogue and you want to have the info readily available on your mobile device                 Great app but needs some tweaks Jedi Mike

I was so excited to have this app Downloaded it an immediately started scanning After scanning 9 books it wanted me to pay for the pro just to scan more 10 for the pro No thanks Maybe 2 99 at max I d buy it but not 10 I d much rather just hand write everything if that s the case and i have well over 600 books     Ugh Hooch93

Please don t waste 10 on this I m very disappointed in my upgraded purchase The app had trouble finding valid ISBNs added wrong items to my collection on a constant basis when using the Bulk Camera Scan function and required a large amount of manual data entry The search function within the app is useless and the website is even worse I ve written to request a refund as I gave up on it after a couple of hours and 120 books     Unfortunate Execution kickedthestairs

The idea of this app is great Was basically hoping to organize a list of a very large number of books my company has been keeping in storage and scanning the ISBNs is an efficient and reliable way to do that However after about a dozen scans the app forces you to pay for the full version though you can continue to add the ISBNs manually Adding any book to your list requires at minimum a title author and photo of the front cover So I was taking a lot of photos on top of having to manually add the ISBNs and constantly adding data However once you ve added a book you cannot go back to edit any of the information unless you pay the 10 for the full version and some of the information the app provides for a book is incorrect Overall was expecting a much more intelligent and efficient app for this purpose and the 10 is just a bit too steep a price to pay     App is useless unless you want to pay 10 kaiser197

I ve only uploaded 6 books thus far and already one of them is showing the wrong book cover art You cannot edit anything unless you pay for the full version Not going to do that Looking for another app         Maybe the full version doesn t have this problem MaritzaC0406

The app engine is really good and it is very helpful You can scan the barcode of most books I would rate it 5 stars if the app would has a better UX searching for your own library is not easy after 200 Books The desktop app is almost a robbery paying 25 USD if you already paid for the iOS app             Good 3 5 but SebastiĂĄn Quiroga

The App is buggy support emails just tell you to reset you account link which has not worked well For the thought of what you get the price seems okay the actual frustration from the App not working straight forward save your money as there are enough negative reviews that you should pay heed So Yes support crew you did not solve the problems after repeated non confrontational tries so this is the negative review result     Not very good Roger135

I just started using this app and was trying out the bulk scan feature I managed to get some books scanned but some of the data was incomplete or oddly entered so I started fixing the data for those books Unfortunately this somehow managed to get rid of almost all of the books I d just scanned other than the two books I had managed to fully fix up to that point How or why this happened I don t know but that s an incredibly irritating feature     Wish it were better Shelly Y
