Used to work well But now capturing what you ve actually outlined in a rectangle is hit and miss Mostly miss In the past this was not an issue but now v 1 2 7 the rectangular selection capture will capture the specified rectangle size only from a window that the rectangular selection has not selected Meaning for example you can select an area of a browser for capture double and triple check that the rectangular selection is what you want and then go to the Capto UI and see in the Organizer that it captured the size right but from some random other window of a different running app Also from the Capto UI Organizer the export function almost never actually places the file where you ve specified Usually 1 or 2 directories above where you ve specified Later Capto         Degraded functionality Soon-to-be x-user

I like Capto it was pretty easy to use and a good alternative to the more expensive software that does the same One thing I still can t figure out is how to force it to always export HD videos to Youtube It seems sometimes it exports with options for 720p and 1080p and sometimes not Even though they are identical videos                 Good for the price ekotysh

Capto is an excellent screenshot app It is one of two favorites I give it 5 stars because it is at the top of my list Still it needs some user experience work If I know what I d make suggestions I always seem to have to figure something out when using it                     Good Mikie Two Shoes

When this app was voila it used to be good It did one thing screen still capture and annotation extremely well It was a great replacement for skitch after they were purchased and ruined by evernote Now that it is capto it tries to do too much and none of it really well Screen still capture is now extremely slow and clunky even on modern hardware and it is hard to quickly capture a still on screen and annotate Video screen capture which seems to be their concentration now is nowhere close to as good as say camtasia I m now looking for a new replacement for the original skitch since capto is not it although voila was Update 10 12 2017 Latest version still has bugs It is not as fast as voila used to be I grabbed an old copy of the app from backup and now have both installed Also the latest capto is buggy Sometimes screen capture doesn t capture what s on the screen but rather captures what s on some windows below the top most window     Used to be good when voila a student and reviewer

The user interface is complex and gets in the way of simple tasks Try recording a video from your screen using computer audio and computer video There is no audio selection option There is a grayed out video camera icon but it may not respond when selected Capto likes screen captures of still images but why bother with this clunky software when a simple screen capture using Apple keystrokes will let you capture an image that can be imported directly into your favorite editor The concept of a screen recorder app that does not have an audio interface control makes no sense The App developers clearly never tested their product in the real world Overall Capto seems to be a failed attempt to update an older app Voila but the result is an awkward dysfunctional product that will waste way too much time trying to get it to function in what should be the bottom line purpose record a computer screen video with simple controls to select window size and audio needs Stay away from this turkey until the interface is improved and there is some proof that it actually works as described     Poor user interface no audio controls jtclubs

I was getting very frustrated with Snag It so I gave Capto a try I very much like this application much better The only addition I could use is the Cutout or Trim capability There is no easy way to remove large chunks of the screen capture either vertically or horizontally This would make this application perfect and a 5 star for me The video capture is great this is full of functionality and features                 Soooo Close C-Red23

I make reaction videos so I needed something to record the screen and the screens audio I couldn t find anything cheap that didn t have people say the program gave viruses I knew I had to spend money in order to get a great recording software and this app was the first one I chose Does everything I want and more Highly recommend this app if you do reaction videos or whatever                     Works Great JPCarrillo37

I am moderately tech savy This app can be used by average joe who may have used iMovie in the past It is pretty intuitive The video capture is so awesome You can capture video by capturing the entire screen or by your custom cropping If you pick custom cropping you set your NW cropping point by the first click and the SE point with the 2nd click The video quality is pretty good I have been able to capture video from online sites You can trim the captured video later To stop the recording you do have to press Command SHIFT ESC to stop it This hot key setup is a very thoughtful idea I have not played with all its editing capability The captured video is a MP4 file that can be directly imported into iTunes                     Love it No problem on El Capitan Mac OS Memorylayne78

I ve disabled capture cursor both in settings and when recording but Capto ALWAYS captures my cursor This makes it completely worthless because all my videos have a cursor in it and I need the cursor to navigate in my videos Wasted my money on this     Always captures my cursor even when I uncheck capture cursor eliyguygy

I have used Snag it for years but I could never snag the equaly important partner to the screen capture it was the internal audio This software will allow you to capture exaclty what you hear on your internal computer vs using your speakers and microphone to capture like snag it does I am using this software to archive videos from my MFA program of study so that I can go back when needed to study You could easly use it to snag audio from youtube as well Even better is the super quick video editing and rendering that you are ablet to do I can snip and cut the beginning and ending of the video which would show my cursor or other movements on the screen I also love that I can export in the mp4 format since it is a much smaller file to save I certainly would reccoemend this app espcailly for school work and teaching puroposes                     The Best I Have Seen Believer of the Way

Capto isn t just a screen recording utility it is a full capturing and cataloguing solution You can capture screenshots entire webpages even if they are taller than the height of your screen and more However there are some bugs and features that really ought to be there but aren t For example Sometimes when you trim a video from the beginning instead of moving to the front of the timeline it gets stuck where you trimmed it Other times video does not show up in the scrubber view Sometimes videos don t export Additionally this app does not quite work with El Capitan s split screen feature it takes up most of the screen rather than resizing to half of the screen It also doesn t have a share extension meaning that you can t send a webpage to capto from safari using safari s share menu On the bright side it s only 30 that s a lot cheaper than competitor Screenflow which is 100 If you re willing to put up with bugs until the software gets updated then you will appreciate the time and thought they put into the app s UI             Well thought out UI but buggy implementation Missing some features as well ajay.ganapathy
