Lead the revolt against a bloodthirsty empire You grew up under the iron fist of the Hegemony. Now is your chance to end their blood-fueled magic, as you forge a ragtag outlaw band into a ...
I ve played most of the CoG offerings and this is truly one of the best The NPCs have multidimensional characters the setting and plot are interesting and it s challenging to be a successful rebel yet possible to do so Your choices do lead to different outcomes People s behavior feels realistic within the story world in which certain types of magic are real I replayed it many times and because you have to play very differently to succeed based on your stat choices it stayed interesting I really wanted to give this 5 stars However there are mechanical glitches in a few key places which have a huge impact on success in the game and was very frustrating If the developer provides an email I can give details Here s a quick summary With a few easy fixes I think this game could belong in the ranks of awesome games like the Heroes Rise series In winter some of your mules may become inaccessible For instance it may show you have 10 mules And that is accurate you remember getting them It shows 3 dedicated to the sick none to anything else but no free mules No matter what I did for all future weeks those 7 mules were just not assignable I think it may be that if you assign more to the sick than you currently have it says it will assign them the following week but really it updates a counter incorrectly and doesn t fix it ever In the final part of the game there are 2 big things you can do to hinder the enemy before the final battle Playing as Intelligence 2 I succeeded perfectly at both It says you have 2 weeks to rest as the opponent needs to regroup Yet in the next battle you re exhausted as though there was no rest I m being vague to avoid spoilers but for those who have played this way you are exhausted in the sense that only a high Intelligence player could be The game forces you to use this skill in the next scenes which is somewhat artificial so it can get you killed at the end it s a very serious flaw                 Fun to play challenging yet winnable good length ArtemisLynn
I m relatively new to interactive novels narrative games and all of the ones I experience in the future have very big shoes to fill Choice of Rebels made me gasp tear up get angry at my character for the choices we d made and genuinely come to care about the other characters and our relationships Thank you for such an amazing experience                     Such a compelling narrative @:$800mahdj
This is one of the best stories from COG Very lengthy and full of choices I loved every aspect of it Looking forward to the sequel                     Another masterpiece Mr.jcury
I ve played almost every Choice of Games and Tin Man Games offered and this by far is the best The depth of story and world building would fit nicely into a full blown novel rarely does that depth travel to a choice game here it feels right at home Another great feature unlike in many games that funnel your choices into the same story line your choices here do matter Can t recommend it enough fantastic                     Phenomenal Lpriest
My favorite COG title by far Your choices matter mistakes are brutal kept me engaged in the story I ve replayed this several times with slightly different choices and every time I play I get new scenes and often significant differences I m super excited for the second game please keep up how great the branching is                     Incredible Hfidjdieornr
I ve enjoyed the plot and character development of the first chapter However I ve run into too many option blunders that leave me 1 starting over because the game didn t save my progress 2 stuck in an unending loop during the winter without the option to move forward or back in the storyline to fix the food rations which is really frustrating given how long and tedious the winter decisions can be or 3 storyline plot inconsistencies that don t make sense I e a very successful raid which brought in plenty of food but resulted in disbandment of the rebel group and loss of leader trust Fix the storyline blunders and I ll bump this up to a 4 Star Develop more complex characters and this would be a 5 Star         Good story too many option blunders The Lost Alaskan
I would give this 4 stars but it s only part 1 of the story It s beautifully written and I m looking forward to the rest but it s not there The game focuses around tactics of the rebellion and notable events during a single winter Also math There s a lot of math which you can technically choose the option to skip but it seems to put you at a real disadvantage It also does take away from game as you are trying to figure out more how many heads you need to feed and less grand moral quandaries or standing really for anything but banditry There are some really interesting characters but the story doesn t really allow you to get to know them which is too bad because the author obviously created a very rich world to draw from All in all I am really looking forward to the next instalment of the story and I hope that we get to explore the world and characters more             Fantastic but only pt1 KatjaJett
Very in depth a whole universe to learn about Many branching paths and choices I really enjoyed this Played first play through in about 4 hours nowhere near found all the different paths that could be taken Worth it and there will be a sequel                     Awesome Anthony47910
I love almost all choice of games s games but this one has absolutely blown me away The story is exciting the characters are layered each have their own type of secret and the choices are so impactful that you actually have to take a minute to think before you make your next move I absolutely can t wait for the next part of the story                     Wow Wow Wow PeiaBread
I never write reviews but I have to rave Choice of Rebels is one of the best titles Choice of Games has ever put out An excellent storyline a rich immersive history and challenging even agonizing choices with both immediate and far reaching consequences all combine for an intense and satisfying story You have chances to replay the last three of the four chapters making changing your choices easier than most of their titles I ve also noticed an element of randomness to the results of certain choices which creates a more organic narration Yet I never felt a single choice was meaningless nor taken without my character s stats in mind There is so much replay value and each replay feels fresh and engaging                     One of their best Rhaygan431
I was excited to see what this COG story had in store and I was not disappointed I like how each decision had impactful consequences however more romance options and more character backgrounds would have been nice The length of the Winter chapter became lengthy and boring but I like the multiple themes introduced such as religion and making decisions as the Elect I ll be waiting to read the second installment but as I said I Hope for more interactions with romance options                 More Romance Less Winter Chickdiva4
As someone else also mentioned it was good until the winter part It all goes downhill from there I really wasn t a fan of the winter writing style and allocating your soldiers to all those tasks was bearable at first but got too long and boring as winter dragged on For the second book I suggest keeping with the writing style in the part before after winter Most of the characters were just too shallow In the Infinity books characters like Cazarosta and Elson are so memorable and have such distinct and complex personalities This story has one or two decent characters like your father noble route but by the time winter comes he s barely mentioned and just fades into the background In conclusion this story had some really in depth story building but the story was pretty weak and boring Hope the second book is better             Lots of effort went into world building but story was decent Poopmonk
Elegantly designed Interesting setting You have a lot of options for your character s origin noble or slave and that has a tremendous effect on the story going forward Also you choose a specialization in brains combat or charisma and these too can uniquely color your play in legitimately intriguing ways Much more thought and depth here than most choice of games less emphasis on character statistics and much more thought put into the results of your style of leadership I don t envy the author trying to follow this up It s a planned first of five and with all the evident work that s gone into it making the sequels won t be easy with all the ways you can end the first game If you like gritty smart thoughtful fiction that makes you think about cruelty and compassion idealism and belief loyalty and betrayal this one won t disappoint                     Best of the bunch Tbachelder
Doesn t tell a complete and satisfying story arc and balance is poor Especially when forced to travel with the children players aren t given a proper opportunity to do things they really ought to be able to for food like raiding strategic outposts for food and supplies until after disaster strikes Combat being combined with strategy threw me for a loop at first but I got used to it and it seems like a good way to make specializing in combat more viable and interesting even if it makes intelligence builds seem underpowered Either way the difficulty of achieving good outcomes tips toward the too hard to be fun side of the scale for me Character wise there were multiple characters that popped up as notable rebels somewhat unexpectedly as people is suddenly knew without much of an introduction I barely knew who ciel was at first and I still don t really know who alira is or why she s a viable leadership candidate after multiple playthroughs I appreciate what you re trying to do with simon suzzane and the kalt twins and dealing with the attraction of someone from a gender you aren t attracted to or didn t know you were attracted to seems like an interesting dynamic to explore But having them automatically be the gender you aren t attracted to seems forced and wrongheaded I get that you want to avoid player centric sexuality but this is just player centric sexuality in a different form that does nothing but annoy players I d like to try and romance Suzanne without pretending to be gay for male breden The These characters romance dynamics are interesting enough on their own without the pray the straight gay away twist Also I really like the idea of Elery being a romance option even if its not available until future installments Having a genius option to balance out the charisma breden and combat noble kalt feels nice and balanced and Elery is a really exciting and impressive character It would also be interesting to see breden s reaction to this seeing their crush and best friend together Even if its a one sided crush on the MC s part it would be nice to see an option reflecting my choice to intervene early in the harrowing specifically to save her and could spice up that one zvad dialogue                 Memorable and compelling start but Incomplete story slightly off balance Cuddleswithreviews
One of the few games that offer hard choices about what you want done how you get it done and whether you can even do it It doesn t offer choices where you get everything you want without cost or even getting anything you want without losing something Even knowing what you want and what you are okay with losing doesn t always guarantee your out comes It have to do it well for that to happen It s a story that really drives home the risk and responsibility of leadership decisions It s a fantastic story with real weight to of all your decisions                     Great game full of hard decisions Winter_Hawk
I started reading it the day it dropped and I m hooked Haven t even finished yet and I m so excited at the depth of the world and the characters                 Loving it Cummings98
I like the world being built here I do think this is a jargon heavy game which could have had better character development There is a weird thing going on with the romance options e g if you like men the second RO is always a woman and is attracted to you so you would switch your orientation to start something with them Why Winter was really long and got boring Still I can see how this could become a decent series the world itself is interesting and you can play from different perspectives I m not sure I would want to play a second installment though unless the style approach changed a little bit         Has potential iguanasomethinsweet
I ve played almost every single choice of game on the App Store This wasn t a bad one but it wasn t amazing either Unlike Sabres of Infinity or Way Walkers which had outstanding characters that were memorable this doesn t I found it interesting until winter It was so boring After the winter stage it go alright It seems so unfinished and dull It reminded of the Banner Saga But without interesting characters and a gripping story             Alright Rang48
There are two schools of COG games those that excel at character development and those heavy on jargon This it seems is from the latter Stats are cemented early on so the PC doesn t evolve Characters are hurled at you and are forgettable if not for the codex entries Much of the time is spent trying to survive winter but instead of raising tension it becomes a bore Mercifully there are a few checkpoints but the content doesn t inspire replays The two endings I did find are abrupt and I found I didn t care         An Unfortunate Slog iiclipse
Extremely well written with remarkable depth Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout If you ve enjoyed the Sabres of Infinity series the Lost Heir series or similar stories then do yourself a favor and read this one ASAP                     Wow Julius Jewels
Choice of Rebels is by far the best entry from the Choice of Games main brand Overall just outstanding storytelling with a wide variety of viable paths to the numerous endgames Can t wait for the next entry                     Excellent Story cascat07
