The City: Your Church Community

Pleased to see The City created an iPhone App for their online database The app does not have all the functionality of their system but this is an excellent first release I know the needed improvements will be right around the corner Way to go City developers                 Great iPhone App for the City

So glad to have an iPhone app for The City Makes interacting with church family easier Though the marketplace is missing but its hit and miss anyway at my church Its good that the app has gotten messages and the notifications are helpful              Finally

My 35 stars rounds up to 4 I havent used the app super extensively yet and have only really come across one constructive criticism that I see There is no way to search for groups to join via the app That would help out a lot with app usability as opposed to having to get on the computer every time you hear about another group you should join not that its that big of a deal but would be an easy addition Overall seems like a great compact version of the website so far              Quality App w Room for Growth

Ive found that the customer support team on TheCity has been exceedingly responsive to all of my issues and feature requests This app has great potential              App needs improvements but has great support team

This app is fine for giving you your news feed from The City the font used is so small and subdued that it is nearly impossible to read and I happen to like small fonts There are no settings to change this I will uninstall this app     Font is too tiny to use this app on iPad

Has a lot of bugs and struggles a lot to open the app     The city

Wonderful way to stay connected In the app I am having a glitch when signing up for an event that has multiple dates I click on one date and it automatically checked other random dates It didnt sign me up for those other dates and areas However if I wanted to actually sign up for one of them I cant because its already checked Also this would be great if it was available to noniPhone users as well My daughter has a Samsung Galaxy and is not able to use the app Otherwise Im loving it              Great app

It is nice to have an iPhone app for the City It would be nice to see attached files or be able to read HTML links in an event           Ok for first attempt

As I understand from a launch consultant there was a focus on handsets and not tabletlike devices hence the landscape mode not being considered It would be great as more are using tablets to have some basic options like a landscape mode Kindly consider building a specific app for tablets that would allow for this Small convenience that will go a long way Its good but little things like that can help make it great              iPadTablet App

I like the app but it does not show up in iTunes as being available for use on my iPad i have it installed on my iPhone but the info tab shows that it is only available for iPhone and iPod I have version 130           Missionary Team Leader

Our church loves The City I just wanted to make a request I would love it if when I commented on a post or event I could tag a person so they would be alerted to the comment ie using name in Instagram or Twitter              Love the App but have a request

Update todays update added iOS 9 support Great work guys Im sure theyll fix it soon but iOS 9 has broken the app Ill try an uninstall and reinstall and update the review if anything improves                 Broken on iOS 9

So far Ive noticed we are unable to switch between accounts It automatically logs into one and no option to switch or tell it which account to login in to Tried changing email on one account but it updated it for both Feedback button doesnt do anything when clicked Glad to see the app finally come out           Good but

This app has been a perfect tool for me I recently moved to LA and found out my church was using this websiteapp Once I created my account I was instantly connected with new friends and found church and bible study related updates instantly Great colander features simple and user friendly posting and all around a perfect tool for staying connected This app is fantastic                 Bringing Community back to the Churh

I use The City a lot At least daily if not more often While the app description says this works on iPad and that technically is true I dont recommend it First its just an upscaled iPhone app not a true iPad version Second the screen wont rotate so if Im working remotely with a keyboard I really cant type and add things I can see the usefulness for the phone version to do quick things on the go but its not robust enough to really work for true City interaction Stick with the website if you need to do any heavy lifting        Too limited on an iPad

This application is NOT usable because it locks up all the time It is SOOOO buggy     Unusable app

Impossible to add a family member without the app blowing up several times before you can eventually ram it down its throat        Very unstable

This could be a great app I was hoping to use it on the iPad but Im not a fan of the small screen it uses for that device When you zoom in for a fuller screen you lose clarity making it hard to read On the iPad there is also not a flip screen option so it can only be used in portfolio Finally I had a request shared with me that I wanted to share with my group I am not finding that capability on the app as well I hope the develops work on these bugs as I would enjoy the convenience of not logging in every time I need to change something           Needs some work

The City App has just been blah for me Nothing on this app seems organized too well And really Id way rather use my phone to connect with my church than the computer Im just sticking with the web interface until they make this app decent     Blah Not very good

If the City didnt have so many bugs it would be really good Love the idea behind this but if it cant be more reliable Im going to just use email or Facebook again     Could be good

The app makes The City even more functional for our family of faith The functionality is incredibly intuitive and the core functions of The City can largely be handled from within the app Considering I am writing this review while Im still beta testing I cant wait to see the muscles of the completed app as it rolls out for general release soon Well done and thanks for helping our church have more effective communication in our congregational life                 Solid and getting even stronger

As a consistent user of TheCity at our church I have anxiously awaited an app that improved on TheCitys mobile website So as soon as I caught wind of this app I downloaded it The app launches nicely but only performs one function beyond that point I could view my Friends from within the app and thats it It wont download ANY other data from our instance of TheCity I understand being in beta but this is just silly This app is very nearly worthless in this current version UPDATE I received an email within a couple of days from TheCity product development team Joe with a fix more the problem I was having Its related to using the 24 hour time function They have a true fix that will be in the next release Im adjusting my rating to 4stars for excellent product support followup The app works great when I change my clock to the 12 hour setting I anxiously await the new release with 24 hour clock compatibility              Ready For Prime Time

I know I speak for our entire church when I saw Weve been waiting for you This app is a great leap from the webbased iteration of iOS accessibility Smooth native transitions intuitive UI with a simple flow and a good offering of some of the main sites features I can actually see using this more than the desktop version ifand this is the biggywe get access to Messages I rely heavily on this section and wish I didnt currently have to duck back into email just to address this prominent feature Though I expect this is on the horizon              Looking Good

I am a new user I was editing the family info and it shut down about ten times in the middle of it     Incredibly Unstable

Works great 1 huge limitation cant message people Isnt community about fellowship and communication           FINALLY It runs very well However you cannot read or write messages Please add ASAP

Overall a decent app It doesnt always push notifications so having to rely on email Getting some notifications for events over a year old Adding messaging to the app would be great           Room to improve

I love using the City as a means of church wide communication We actively use it and push it at our church and it has been wonderful to see so many roots born in community and fellowship Truly I believe that we have grown closer and more connected as a church body because of the city and think the City is an excellent resource With that said it has its pitfalls For one the City itself has no means of storing important documents within groups other than posting to the page with attachments It would be nice to see a Dropbox of sorts for videosdocuments relevant to the particular group Additionally the most frustrating thing about the City is the inability to embed videos or posts In order to do so you must format the videos and its completely nonuser friendly As far as the app itself it is a decent tool to use along with the Citys interface as long as the user understands the City is primarily an online based platform Within the app you are not able to edit or delete posts from your group so for group leaders its amazingly frustrating and inconvenient The help feature available on the site is useful and informative but the live chat is significantly less helpful City representatives simply refer you back to the website or state that there is a problem on your end Not very helpful for the lay church leader Overall the city is an amazingly useful tool but pales in its comparison to Facebook with a higher level of personal security an virtual safety but much less user functionality and appealing interface The app is useful for the city on the go but is wonky glitchy isnt fully functional when compared to the website and is difficult to intrinsically navigate to the layuser As a small groups director for a church of 3000 Im hoping that the City will implement some new features and considerable improvements in the near future At the moment it is a hard sell for a church that naturally uses the major social media interfaces of Facebook Twitter LinkedIn etc           Needs work

Not sure if this is iOS 9 or what but as of today one day after iOS 9 download the app has become unusable I tried what lukeolsen mentioned he might do and deleted reinstalled no help Unless theres a fix for this do NOT download if you have iOS 9 installed Otherwise its a 5 star app based on my past experiences        What happened
