Clean Writer

Once the text gets past the keyboard you cant scroll You cant see what youre typing Thats pretty much the first thing you needed to get right        Nice idea but the most basic bug is there

I bought this to be able to open text documents from Dropbox but it wont do it It wont even find them     Doesnt do what I bought it for

I purchased this app to do one thing open and edit text files from Dropbox That feature doesnt work     Save your money

I like this app a lot When I first bought my iPad I was quite bummed there were no word programs that could be applied to the device I was hoping this tool would completely replace my laptop I started looking for things such as note pads and I came across a few that just werent good I didnt like the layouts or they wouldnt save there were a number of things wrong but I have yet to have a problem with this app I write in it when Im feeling creative and I love having it available at my finger tips              Creative Outlet

Saving the files as Unicode instead of ANSI the default for my windows machine worked So now I am able to use this apps functionality Hope that helps some of you Because I was frustrated for a little while as I tried to open a few files form Dropbox 1 of 3 worked I tried to even make the files with CleanWriter then open and add text to them from Notepad in Dropbox and reimport and they would not open except that one              Text txt Solved from Dropbox

This is a fantastic app and does exactly what I want it to do Incredibly simple to use great interface nice syncing and reliable as all heck My only complaint is that at this moment the icon on the springboard does not appear to be retina it looks really fuzzy next to my other apps This is isnt a functional issue just an aesthetic one and a very minor one at that              Great simple app one complaint

All I have to say is this is the best ever                 BEST APP EVER

CAN YOU PLEASE ADD QUOTE MARKS and an APOSTROPHE TO THE EXTENDED KEYBOARD GLYPHS Otherwise this app is NOT truly functional for a writer I do like the small size of the ext kybd and the placement Hopefully if you do add the requested glyphs you will put them to the far right side on the ext kybd This simple addition will make this the best app for writers Without them though its not Thanks        EXT KEYBD GLYPHS

This is a good appsimple interface and layout Its very minimal My only complaint is that the scrolling doesnt work well Aside from that it would be nice to be able to use bold and italic I do like how clutter free it is It lets me get a draft out on my iPad without distractions I then email it to myself and copy it into Word on my computer to finish editing and formatting              Good

I cannot change the margins significantly and will have to learn to translate from txt I know this is basic the simplicity and alt Backgrounds make this an excellent writing program              Great for what it is

it opens the ones i save directly from the program but when i browsed my dropbox it would not open any file type inside bug paid a dollar for using the same thing as NOTES        good app cant open files

Cant get Any of my files to open unless saved as a rtfbut then it opens up a mess of codes mixed in With my document I get an error anytime I try to open anything elseeven the PDF that comes with Have tried reinstalling have tried different ways of uploading and accessing files Would love money back as it does work at all Working from iPad most recent iOS     Wont work

I really like this app There are a few tiny adjustments I would make if I could but it is far better than other writing oriented apps I have tried              Pretty good

A nice app but I am working on several long documents and Clean Writer can not open them It took a while to figure out why as there was no error message or warning Be aware that it can only edit a few pages of text           Limited amount of words

The name says it its a very clean app Love that the writing area takes up the entire iPad screen Has some nice features That being said wish it had a couple more like the ability for columns bullet points and bolditalic without having to choose an all bold or italic font That stuff aside I definitely prefer writing in this app over any other and Ive tried many Overall great job to the devs on keeping it looking minimalist but still having features              Love the minimalist approach

What about fullscreen when you have nothing on your screen No Status Bar No File name nothing just your text           Looks good but

Really enjoyed this app Contains all the essential writing features for putting together a flowofthought rough draft font customization margin adjustment color options and DropBox sync The only feature Id like to see to earn a 5star review would be some ability to change spacing between lines to 11 15 or doublespace for lesscrowded writing              Great app

This app may offer a nice array of fonts but they dont print that way nor do they print in the format you create What a waste of 100     Yuk

I downloaded this last night to do the final edits on a short story for submission to a magazine After two hours of detailed editing I went to upload the file from Dropbox and learned that all of my edits were gone I cant say that Id recommend this software until you can be certain that your text will be there when you want it Very unreliable     Lost all my edits

I have been using clean writer sense I got my I pad about 8 months ago and liked it but it had its limitations but the new version solves all of them Better interface more choices works better Other version has some issues when I went to correct spellings the text would hid under the keyboard and the save button would need to be hit more then once wouldnt recognize that I had hit it Now its more feature rich but without sacrificing its original intent to offer a clean writing app for the iPad It was good before not its great Thanks and I did the install over the old one and it seems to work fine                 Love the new interface

Regrettably the developer appears to have abandoned what was a promising writing app No updates since mid2012 The interface is fairly intuitive but the app appears to harbor a number of bugs especially now that were a couple of iOS versions down the road since the app was last updated I like the look and feel of Cleanwriter but it isnt worth an investment now and I will have to give it the axe I cant trust an abandoned app with important files Too bad        Promising but now abandoned

This is delightful a lovely way to do straight typing on my iPad I used it to type notes minutes before leading a workshop today and it was so convenient I can save separate files which is very handy and the dictation function works perfectly in this A beautiful simple functional USEFUL app Thank you                 Wonderful

I Love to write stories and dont want other people to read them I got this crapy ijournaler app and I hated how it worked I got this app and began to write a lot more I haven yet tried to open files and all of that fancy stuff but for the writing part I think its a great app The biggest and only complaint I have is that you cant choose more color font or type fontsize font If you like or need to write a story or document I highly recommend this app              Love It

this program is a PO waste of money it will not open plain txt document I guess I had a pelosi moment and done something stupid like purchasing this po i would give this program no star     clean writer

This just isnt a good app Minimalist yes But sometimes that just means not having what you need For example email I dont like dropbox I just want to email stuff to myself There are other apps that look just like this and let me email Deleted        I dont like it

The ux is horrible and dropbox integration simply doesnt work I choose the file and nothing happens     Really not what I thought

Great app though there is one problem You cant control your font size which concerns me because I wanted to see my writing bigger and for many of us its easier to type and see when you have control over the font size              WOW

The ability to doubleclick to select a word is extremely buggy ive only had it work once or twice this is a feature I thought was builtin to iOS              Nearly perfect

I bought this app because it has a quick access darkblack mode thats great for typing at night Its a good app with a clean interface and experience But troublesome file management More than once I have opened the file menu selected another document with the assumption it would automatically save my current work IT DOES NOT it will flush your current work as it opens another file You have to FIRST save your work All in all not a big deal but it flows against the typical usage mode of most other programs and therefore is prone to forgetfulness Also I find the file drop down small and needlessly cluttered Other than that very well done              Solid App with one minor issue

Clean Writer works mostly as advertised but there are 2 big usability issues to it that mean Im probably going to delete it shortly from my iPad When I swipe up or down to pass through text the app will snap sometimes to put the focus point well above or below where I want it to be Sometimes this puts the insertion point past the top of the screen cant see my typing and sometimes it forces the insertion point to the very very bottom The inapp UI to manage files has tiny buttons and fonts and a completely monochromatic interface It feels more like an old Windows app than something on iOS Even worse the Save button when you have edits to write is right above the file list If youre very very unlucky and the file youre editing is the first one in the list its really easy to accidentally tap the file instead of the save button and blow away everything you just wrote Im wrapping up what I have written in CleanWriter now and then transferring everything in it back to either the builtin Notes app or some other iPad text editor Losing all the text I worked on for the last halfhour was the last straw        Major Usability Issues

Doesnt open txt files from Dropbox Also description says receive and send from email etc But does not allow for importing file from email Also of note there is no support for doc files Basically nothing worked Id like a refund     False advertising

Pretty great app I really enjoy it However the editing can sometimes be awkward and difficult to manage through              Yeah

its good and works if you dont want to spend the money on Pages hard to tell what the page size is the font size and it just doesnt suit me so well like that you can change the page background though           eh

I loved this app before the update and this has only made it better I find it fun to be able to cycle through the fonts and change the schemes The pinch part to change the size of the font is helpful if I cant get the cursor to go to the right word or too lazy to do it with my keyboard I also have to say the service is great too I found a bug in the update where it would not upload directly to DropBox even if I unlinked and relinked as well as redownloaded the app I sent in a complaint and it was handled quickly and without fuss All in all I am an extremely pleased customer and would buy this app if it were still 399 though I bought it for 99 cents                 Great App and Service

This is a great app It provides a clear clean place to write creatively No distractions Plus it works with dropbox so your file is available anywhere If you want to focus are creative writing this is the app                 great writing tool

The update is good There is one problem though I would be writing on the app and then all of a sudden it would blank out on me When i would go back in what i have been writing recently would be gone Help           Help

I like this app but I have two questions 1 How do I reposition the screen sideways 2 How do I edit The editing is not very user friendly in my opinion              Good

This is a great straightforward writing tool for anyone interested in getting down their work with minimal interface and no frills and in my opinion its probably the best text editor style writing program on the store right now The format it saves in has given a few people problems but since I use WordPad for most of my basic text saving and conversion needs I was very happy that the format actually opens fine in WordPad and includes the formatting without having convert the file Theres other decent barebones writing apps out there some at no charge but this is the first one Ive used where the file saved into my Drop box without hassle and in a format that was readable in both plain text and WordPad without any issues which is a big plus for me If all you want is a solid program meant for getting down your ideas with some basic formatting options but nothing else special or distracting I recommend clean writer quite a bit              Very good basic writing tool

What I like about this app is that I can just focus on writing I love the black screen with the green letters I also like the fact that I can dump my documents using dropbox What I dont like about this app is that its too basic I would love to be able to create chapters write outlines and do some of the things that the other writing apps can do I look forward to the upgrades but as of right now this app works for me in that it helps me focus on writing           Good app for writers but

Its a great app to have if you dont have Microsoft but it has no formatting or auto correction Dont buy if you need that        Alright

Great free software Its very simple and intuitive The only drawback is that it is a little less responsive than other programs Pretty great otherwise especially if you dont need all the bells and whistles that accompany a traditional word program           Simple and easy but less responsive than other programs

This is simply the best writing app for the iPad It is very very clean neat simple and well it works It is absolutely perfect for someone who just wants to write and have the entire iPad screen available to do so I would easily pay more than a 1 for this simple efficient app                 Best word processor for the iPad
