Complex RPN Calculator

I have beening using RPN logic calculators since the HP35 in 1972 When the reviewer here complained about the missing equal key It brought back early memories of people asking me the same thing about my HP35 the fact is no RPN calculator has one When solving a problem you dont as in an AOS system enter 224 instead you do 2 enter 2 and that eguals 4 This doesnt seem to make much since until you start getting into a complex calculations and are able to solve it just as you might do it on a chalkboard working from the inside out being able to see the results of each step before finally seeing the final answer Several decades ago I schooled a high school math teacher in the use of an HP RPN calculator This teacher had a blanket ban on calculators in his classes feeling they where a cheating tool Once he understood RPN logic he realized its resource as a teaching tool because it teachs how to solve a problems as illustrated in a text book and by preventing you from entering something in the wrong way To any student out there that is learning higher mathmatics for the first time I highly recommend this App using RPN logic will pay off in better understanding and better grades The fact this App if free is just icing on the cake I agree with the one reviewer being able to see the stack would be really nice                 Great RPN Calculator

The key sound is annoying and there is no way to turn it off The layout is ok        Another ok calculator

This rpn calculator is exactly was I was looking for and it was free I appreciate the large buttons and display which are helpful when using in front of my students in class In many ways I prefer this calculator over my hp15c Thanks                 very pleased

CmpxRPN V11 is my favorite calc on my iPod touch 2g In my view it is an excellent trade off between feature set and ease of use tight code 350 KB The number format and number display are functional and pleasing If you are looking for the efficiency of RPN ease of use and complex number manipulation this is the calc for you This calc is designed for complex numbers as evident by the simple and effective input scheme Like any virtual keyboard you need a little practice to avoid input errors I would hope that Mr Coddington keeps the calc basically as is except for minor tweaks and if inclined to add feature sets would offer a separate calc for those who want more horsepower in a single calc at the expense of a cluttered key board One suggestion is to have fix n format goto sci notation when the answer requires more than n decimal places Code wise this may or may not be a minor tweak                 RPN Calc

This is a nice substitute for one of the HP RPN calculators for lite duty use Best of all it is free              Nice RPN

If you are looking for a tool to perform calculations on imaginary numbers in RPN this is it To anyone reading the other review if you think this calculator is bad because it doesnt have an equals button you probably dont have a use for working with imaginary numbers anyhow Go get an infix calculator for your 2 2 needs RPN is perfectly suited for working with i while infix makes it a nightmare since every number contains an operator                 Great for imaginary numbers

Not all calculators are equal Many calculators do scientific functions Not many do complex arithmetic If you find yourself doing complex calculations this kind of calculator is invaluable I dont understand why one would compare this to a standard RPN calculator If you need a standard scientific calculator use the one that comes with the iPhone              Excellent Engineers Calculator

This calculator is exactly what I was expecting an easy to use scientific that uses RPN The support for complex is a nice bonus For that it supports both rectangular and polar forms I find Fix 6 about right for display precision My only nit is I would prefer the numbers were rightjustified Just ignore the reviews that obviously are not aware of RPN                 As expected

Try it out It is free and a nice way to learn to use an RPN calculator It is not practical for heavy use and I do not entirely trust it but it is good in a pinch           Pretty Good

The web site claims that from version 26 the program finally includes complex numbers This is totally misleading It only does a couple of very rudimentary operations with complex numbers and is UNUSABLE for any real engineering or scientific calculations with complex numbers I am disgusted that I had to pay to find this out It is so misleading that Apple should pull the app until the author stops claiming features that are just not there If you need complex numbers do not buy this George     No Complex Numbers

Cant figure out how to cluck the lower functions of the keys Instructions not clear I always get the upper key response Help     Lower key problem

Really like this calculator better than the stock app but for modern implementation of an RPN calculator it should really include stacking registers My old HP has 4 registers and it really helps for longer strings of computations        Missing feature

This is an excellent well written application Would not change a thing I have been using HP calculators with Reverse Polish throughout my engineering career and this app totally emulates it Way to go developer                 Great Application

Great app but with IOS8 if you like having your iPad oriented with the home screen to your right the app starts up upside down The only way to correct it is to tilt to portrait then back to landscape Wish they would fix thismgoing yo have to find a different RPN calculator unfortunately     Good app but

This is a most unique calculator It efficiently uses RPN for calculation More importantly it computes with complex numbers in a sweet manner You can enter either rectangular or polar coordinates of a complex number make a computation and get the result in either form So what This is a powerful tool for making geometric computations Enter two complex numbers thinking of each as a point Their difference is the vector from the first to the second In polar coordinates you get the distance between the points and the direction of the second from the first The tangent of the direction is the slope of the line This calculator makes this process a breeze If you think of the complex numbers as trips their sum gives the physical sum of the vectors and tells you the total distance travelled and the direction of travel Adding 180 gives the direction of the return trip This calculator is extremely useful in physics engineering precalc and calculus                 Geometry Calculator

If you want to dominate the iPad RPN calculator space stop making the same mistake everyone else is making 1 Keep the buttons relatively small A little bigger than on the iPhone is fine but dont waste precious realestate on gargantuan buttons 2 Show the whole stack and make it deep You have a big screen now Put it to use and show me 10 or 15 lines of stack Why not make it super deep and let me scroll it The stack is what makes RPN great let it shine 3 Innovate touch interaction with the stack HPs stack DROP and ROLL models are decades old made for button interfaces and small displays Now that you have a big screen and have multitouch why not let me manipulate delete drag copy stack items by touch Youve done all the hard work already Starting from your current code base the above changes are relatively easy and would make something spectacular Ill keep using my old iPhone RPN calc Tausendsterns until someone makes an iPad RPN calculator thats actually BETTER instead of just BIGGER           Show the stack
