Ever wonder how loud a sound really is? Well now you can with Decibel Meter Decibel Meter uses your iPhone s built in Mic to determine the intensity level of sounds it picks up, ...
It only goes to 114dB I was excited to see how loud it was behind my drumset during a concert Apparently too loud Musicians Steer Clear     Weak
buy the other app because this one is way off the 999 app is pretty close and has options     av tech
Useful but crashes far too frequently for my taste        Crashes frequently
Tops out at 106db all the time even at low volumes I know it says its for novelty but still should work to some degree if you are paying for it If I could Id ask for my money back Dont download this one if you need something that works If you want a flashy screen that does nothing go for it        Not accurate
Nice Application Not high tech but it works The average and peak is good but I would like to see a third scale for Peak Hold which would be the absolute Max sound peak I would like to have the option to rotate the entire display 180 degrees this way I can point the microphone towards the sound source and still properly view the display              Nice App for educational and entertainment purpose
Does what it says and I have found it very educational I would like to see A weighting and smoother averaging bit overall a swell little app You might be suprised how loud that music is you are listening too Hearing loss occurs at just 85 dB prolonged exposure                 As advertised
i wish this was able to go higheri need it to go to at least 140 or it just peaks out on me at 110 useful for non loud situations           works but not useful in loud situations
Not sure the meter is accurate or not but was able to use it to test different levels of sound for waterfalls to put in my backyard Made the choice easy Accurate for comparing levels as long as the phone is the same distance from the source                 Great app
What a waste of money I installed this App on my iPhone and it just crashes     Crashes
This app as far as I can tell is actually on the money when it comes to it being accurate I tested it with a real DB meter and they matched Also be warned cell phone microphones can sustain damage when exposed to levels above 100DB for extended periods of time              Pretty Good
This will be a tremendous tool for helping me learn how loud decibels are Well worth the price                 Excellent My own portable audio meter
This thing has decent graphics but doesnt work A finger snap at 12 from microphone yielded 105 decibels This program doesnt work I did like the peak average and hold features Too bad it just aint working     Bad Deal
The limitation of 110 decibels is an iPhone limitation and nothing to do with this application Prior reviewers take note              A great entertainment toy
Junk do not buy     Junk
The app does what is says and works well but I would like to see these features Add a stop start button Show the low average low and high for a sample period Be able to compare different sample periods via a chart or graph Save x amount of sample data Add the Decibel Comparison Table to the application Example I was wanting to check the Griffin Air Curve for the iPhone to see if it really produced an 10db increase in volume This would have been much easier if I could record the same 10sec sample of music using the Curve and then with just the iPhone if I could have save the data from both and had them displayed on some kind of side by side chart ThanksKeep up the great work              Neat App works great
The large display is easy to see from across a room and it registers a fairly high 115 dB upper limit However after comparing it to the other decibel meter app here I dont think its accuracy is yet up to snuff as of Sept 08 It would give an ambientlow noise reading about 20 dB less than the other app The display is entertaining yet I cant say that its sure to give a good reading           Fun to watch but not yet accurate
Got the app at a Metallica concert last night to see how loud the show was unfortunately app tops out at 106 dB not reported 110 Here in my quiet office the peak is jumping all the round while my SPL meter indicates fewer and lower peaks App seems to be reporting higher average dBs than meter 34 dBs App says snapping my fingers is 100 dB while meter says 50 Algorithm seems to need some slight modification Often I get the Peak Hold not refreshing and the Peak to freeze as well The Sample Rate slider is rather hard to grab and does not move smoothly Previous reviewer suggested different meter skins great idea analog digital equalizer numerical etc I would be happy to help test future versions if you need it        Good idea but needs work
i bought two apps that do basically the same and i find them both very good I always use them both to check the noise level and they both agree                 very good
NOT accurate at all A mild voice will peak the meter at 105db when that should be around 6070     Not impressed
I havent compared it directly to an RTA but I believe its reasonably close if I had a complaint it would be that theres no options at all it would be nice if it had a peakhold option on the max db or a selectable hold time           cheap and works
i downloaded this and paid and it doesnt work on my iPod LIST THAT IN THE DESCRIPTION     what the heck
there needs to be a way to calibrate this meter other spl meters provide a method to adjust the reading with an offset setting and are easy to calibrate if this meter were enhanced with an offset feature it would be worth buing otherwise it is not     Very inaccurate
Tthis is a really great app or would be if the rating or measuring capacity wasnt limited to 106 Decibals I can clap louder than that Make it better and I will gladly pay for it           Almost really good
I would give it 5 stars but when I clicked to install it 20 minutes went buy and it was stll loading and when I clicked on it my iPhone locked up for 5 hours Then I got a message to download it through iTunes After I did that the app And phone work fine It could have been on my end also Great app Though              Works great but
This is a horrible app Cannot measure real decibels Needed for a night club to measure but peaks at 1056 limit Feel violated for buying it     HORRIBLE
according to futureappsnet this app should only be used for entertainment purposes the iPhones built in mic is not sensitive enough for professional level sound metering So yeah Essentially it moves a needle around when you yell in the mic        DISCLAIMER For entertainment value only
This app cost 200 more than it should very innaccurate Get free meter much more accurate     Decibal Meter
Best of its kind right now Colored display Meter needs to go over 100 Every loud place I go it shows full Even though the numbers go higher the colored display needs to as well        Display easly pegs at 100 please fix
This app uses to be very good now it just crashes when I try to open it     Crashes at launch
I use this app whenever I am running sound for a band or when I need to check the levels of my own band I recently tried this at two outdoor concerts In both cases the levels were compared between this application and a real decibelmeter in one case two decibelmeters simultaneously This application was within 1 decibel of the calibrated decibelmeters Great work Future Apps              Great Application
Do not buy this app I wasted a dollar and its way off db levels are no where close to what they should be     Waste of money
This was a great app but unfortunately the app developer has abandoned updates and the latest iOS version doesnt let it run     Warning app no longer works
A good way to tell or show people just how loud they are Seems to have gotten better over time I hope I choose the better of the two apps since this one is twice the price It would be nice if it had an analog option as the icon competitor has I dont understand the label word on the meter graph why its there              Unique
Do not buy this app if youre measuring sounds over 114db It caps at 114 and is unable to go any higher           Works as described but can only go so high
How come the meter reads 50dB in a perfectly quiet room obviously with no one speaking or making music I could understand a reading of 10dB for any ambient noise in a nonsound proof room but 50 Im disappointed     How come
Keep in mind the iPhones builtin microphone only goes up to 115dB That said this app is great to have around Its cool to see how loud the ambient noise level is in your bedroom office movie theater car or train It can be turned upside down so you can point the microphone where you want Also there is a resettable Peak Hold option now Note I would recommend changing the Sample Rate to about 3 seconds as the default is much too fast to be really useful              Nice to have
Simple put doesnt work At all     Junk
Even in a dead quiet room the meter reads 40 Dont waste ur loot its not even fun     Dont Buy
I downloaded this app because Im a vocalist and wanted to see how loud my voice can go I maxed it out easily at 114dbs and was disappointed it didnt go higher but for a buck I wasnt disappointed A novel cheap app to teach kids about loudness           Novelty limited by iPhones mic
This app is consistently showing 1015db higher than A weighting It could be using flat which would show higher than what your ear is hearing Not worth buying until it can be calibrated and select the weighting     Very inaccurate
Really handy for my work Tested it against our very high end meters and every thing is bang on considering the limits of the iPhone microphone Nice work                 Works great Nice interface
Got this in a pinch Dissatisfied with apps inability to determine dBs over 100 That is the limit Buy Decible for 099 and know all     Limited app
Fine instrument                 Decibel Meter
Worth a buck Barely           Low tech
I have tried ALL the decibel meter apps usually I compare one to the other re the levels unfortunately no two have ever read the same How is one to know which is more accurate I suppose buying a real decibel meter and comparing to that I like the display the lock in of highest and lowest levels the graph is easy to read and helps if youre in a dark environment I manage rock bands often the lighting is dim This is my favorite so far just not sure of the accuracy though              Decibel
Like it but skins could use improvement Offer alternatives     Appearance
