I want to give this 5 stars because I admire the software However the phone itself maxes out at about 100 dbs Lets hope future versions of the iPhone have improved mics Five stars for the software given the hardware

I used this app on my wife and it registered 8595db during normal conversation no wonder I am going deaf in my right ear Works fine

This thing is dead on I have two other meters and this appears to be right on It is normal for a db meter to register 4050 db in a quiet room We are so used to hearing background noise we effectively no longer hear it Ya gotta remember that this isnt a relate measurement but an absolute one Definately worth the money Great app

This app is useless for accurately measuring decibel levels I am using a brand new 3g iPhone and just tested this app findings averages 3848 db in a completely quiet room averages 47 db inside a lab quality vacuum after I changed sensitivity level to high It required a reboot to end the program Fun to toy with friends insane to expect anything close to an accurate reading The developer does state that it is for entertainment only so no fault there My suspicion is that the internal mic was simply not intended to be used in this manner For entertainment only Not accurate

Great app with my iPhone 5 and iOS 7 but does not work on my iPhone 6 with iOS 81

I havent calibrated it against a real sound level meter but its good for a quick measurement Words well in general Crashes sometimes

You may be able to load this onto the iPod Touch thats all you can do save a buck

I work at a performing arts center and my coworkers think this is a pretty cool application Its not going to replace the highend meters but its great for getting a quick read I also like the interface Im legally blind and I can use it Well done Very useful

Surprisingly accurate Tried it out on a new GE dishwasher which was supposed to run at 51 decibels Had no idea what that was supposed to sound like Found this app in iTunes and tried it out the next time the dishwasher ran It showed 51 decibels about 1 inch in front of the unit about the same as our new fridge I am impressed Works as well as I expected

Nice looking interface but thats about all As others have reported it continually fluctuates between 40 50 db in an absolutely quiet room like a walkin closet If the needle stayed in one place I would think an offset value is in order but changing values in total silence A waste of my time and pennies iPhone is 8 Gb 3GS v31 model MB046LL Registers 40 50 db in Silent Room

The 110 limit should be raised a bit higher Higher limit needed

Im trusting the other reviewers who say that it matches up well with their bona fide decibel meters If youre a musician though it may not be of much use if your ensemble is already loud At our normal volume we had it cruising above 95 dB and couldnt get a peak lower than its 105 dB limit However it was interesting letting us see how often we were in the hazardous range As a recreational app its good clean fun It responds quickly and gives readings on par with common figures Ive seen If you really need dependable readings at loud volumes youll need to use a device built for it Either this app or the iPhones microphone is capping the upper limit Likely accurate maybe microphone limit peak readings

I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen and am using TouchMics MITYMIC Works very well but capping off at 105db doesnt apply here Should definately provide support for much hiflgher dbs with next release Good but not good enough

With newer versions of iOS be sure you allow the app to access the phone microphonea setting that wasnt required in older iOSes Works very wellcheck settings with new iOS though

Good idea for an app and I wanted to see how loud my music in my car was so I bought it The only problem is since I play music through my iPhone in my car I cant play music and measure the decibels at the same time When my music is playing and I click the icon for the app my music fades out Can yall please make the program so the iPod can function in the background I feel like that is something basic the app should do Not what I thought I was paying for

This product should have a slightly higher decibel value to allow for better use in high risk areas as well I think that an attempt should be made to increase the decibel range to include up to 140 decibels Im not sure if the mic can handle it but if so it would be helpful Otherwise good app Needs higher decibel value

My husband doesnt believe me that his snoring is loud After 18 years of snuggling up with that freight train every night I finally have this little app to prove how loud he isyes hes hit 100 decibels If only it cured snoring

Would like to see the additional featuresNeat Application here are some features I would like to see Add a stop start button Show the average low and high for a sample period Be able to compare different sample periods via a chart graph something Save x amount of sample data Example I was wanting to check the Griffin Air Curve for the iPhone to see if it really produced an 10db increase in volume This would have been much easier if I could record the same 10sec sample of music using the Curve and then with just the iPhone if I could have save the data from both and had them displayed on some kind of side by side chart ThanksKeep up the great work Neat app works well

This works really well and seems very accurate too I like you how can rotate your iPhone 180 degrees and point the microphone towards the sound source and then the screen automatically rotates back Also the large numbers make the results very easy to read Works really well and is very cool

Would be great if it told you the safe time to listen to the current avg db level without permanent hearing loss Good app

I bought this app to measure levels coming from a commercial building near my house The app measured levels high enough to complain to authorities about the noise Turned out the police decibel reader was different by 10 decibels Recommendation good for very rough estimate Rough estimate
