While the graphical interface is excellent and well thought out I felt that the application did not perform as expected This of course could simply be my experience as I do not know of the experience others have had My task was to sort my hard drive of 270 GB most of which were images and remove all the duplicates In many cases I had located 3 4 or even 7 duplicates My desired outcome was to use this app to find these duplicates and at my request reduce all of them to one throwing out anything extraneous Unfortunately the application only located the files albeit in an simple format but in most cases I was forced to go through them item by item yes the entire 270 GB to ensure that the appropriate files were selected 1 day later I m done Perhaps a revision on the algorithm is in order Great idea and introductory function But we need some better functionality on this one I would have paid slightly more 5 for an app that worked to save me time and effort             Lacks sophistication WOLOLO*

There is no way to simply keep the original and automatically delete duplicates If you end up w 1000 duplicate files you have to go through and click each file individually to delete it Stupid     This app stinks BudapestZapper

Sure it scans and identifies duplicates but all the files end up being shown as locked so you cannot select any file to be zapped Waste of time money And instructions mention nothing about locked files so you end up screwed     Doesn t Work CLK3RD

I have the latest iMac with all the upgrades and this app has now taken more than THREE DAYS to find and delete about 100 GB of files When my hardware has a read write of around 1Gb sec you know you don t have a hardware performance issue The issue is with the app It looks pretty but works POORLY Not enough thought given to performance Instead of investing in the pretty interface they should ve spent some money on the performance and coding This 99 cost me several hundred dollars in TIME No way I d buy anything from Intego EVER     You will waste DAYS of your life waiting for this app to work lukerivers

I had apparently duplicated a lot of photo and video files It was a breeze to find them check them and delete them I found no errors at all the system checks bit by bit very good                     wow freed up over 40GB on my 500GB hard drive hjklmng

First let me start with the box I m using this is a Macbook Pro i7 quad core with 8GB of memory so the machine is not slow This application is the slowest piece of crap I ve ever had to endure I knew it was slow so I allowed it to run overnight so I could find dups on a 1 8TB drive that was fine Come morning I find it completed but I can t even choose a file to delete When it finally allows me to make a choice it just sits there thinking as if it doind the entire scan again This is so slow I could ve just gone into each folder and found the dups by eye and deleted them It is so slow that it is rendered useless     Horrible savior914

I purchased this program yesterday and so far I m loving it I didn t know I had that many duplicate files pictures movies etc I m going to take it slow and do a little each day but this program has done everything it said it would I love the easy clear interface very easy to understand I know at every step what is happening and what the program will do next so I m confident I won t delete any important files So glad I found this program and the price was great                     So Far Love It Joyfulhearted

Over the last 4 years I ve had my laptop stolen twice home burglary bag snatched on train and my harddrive died Luckily I had backups through Carbonite and was able to restore my files However somehow in this process I ended up with multiple copies of every file and they ended up embedded at different levels on my hard drive with similar names and no identifying dates It was a really confusing and daunting prospect to sift through by hand and figure out what to keep and what to erase Duplicate Zapper was a HUGE help It has still taken several hours of my time probably 8 hours to go through all the duplicates it found However it would have taken much much longer and been a miserable task to try to do on my own It was especially satisfying to find entire folders duplicated I could erase dozens of files at once knowing that the folders were identical In fact I highly recommend starting by searching Folders only for duplicates I started with files music and everything until I realized that many of my duplicates were the contents of whole duplicated folders It would have taken me forever to Zap them one file at a time The only weaknesses I found were I wish the space where the file names show up were longer so I could see the whole path right there without having to hover or click the magnifying glass The eye symbol on the right seemed useless Hovering over the name of the file didn t always reveal the path Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn t It would be great for the list of duplicates found to say how much memory they are taking And then provide a graphic of how much memory you ve freed up by Zapping them There is a program called Mailstrom that does a great job of this as you erase lots and lots of old e mail The visuals are VERY SATISFYING like a video game Duplicate Zapper tells you how many MB or KB you just freed up with each Zap but doesn t keep a running total for a session And for someone like me who doesn t have an immediate sense of how big 1kb or 1mb is it doesn t mean much But I d love to see a graph of space on my harddrive growing                     Gave me back 1 3 of my hard drive jbookshaw

I have been comparing Gemini The Duplicate Finder Duplicate Detective and Duplicate Zapper Duplicate Zapper takes MUCH MUCH MUCH longer to scan I compared side by side Gemini s The Duplicate Finder was the fastest Duplicate Detective took twice or 100 longer to scan the same volumes multiple runs as The Duplicate Finder However Duplicate Zapper is still running and has taken currently 2 hours and is still running to scan the same folders for duplicates that The Duplicate Finder took 8 minutes and Duplicate Detective took 17 minutes That is over 600 to 1200 longer than the competitiion It is totally unacceptable Do NOT use this utility I have not found ANYTHING that would warrant using this utility Right now I am liking the speed of The Duplicate Finder and the options of Duplicate Detective I will probably stop using this tool and just compare The Duplicate Finder and Duplicate Detective in future reviews         It takes MUCH longer to scan than Gemini or Duplicate Detective markTheDeveloperAndITExpert

Tried another type of app It wanted to delete everything which was alarming Left this chore for a couple of years My iTunes folder rose to 4TB I knew there were numerous duplications but I wanted an app that would allow me to really focus the search on just the Movies Folder or just TV Shows Downloaded the app and less than a minute I started a search on my my main iTunes folder It took about five hours to complete the review but there were almost 3 000 items while I knew I only had about 1 000 movies After it ran I was presented with a very easy screen with duplicates on the left and both copies of the movie file in question Immediately I saw that there was a Movies folder embedded within the Movies folder with over three hundred duplicates I checked each duplicate and ticked the file that was in this Movies folder It took about an hour to check but I d expect most people to have far fewer files to review Once I selected the files to erase I hit the zap button A few seconds later I had 561GB of extra disc space and the entire system runs faster Great app I d recommend using it perhaps twice per annum to scavenge for disc space                     Duplicate Zapper The Perfect Solution frequentmoviewatcher

Seriously And I m not being hyperbolic One run every single duplicate across a network of external drives and a couple of internal library locations Some arraged according to itunes hierarchy some just in files But it worked It took a couple of days to scan which isn t so much a comment on the app s speed rather on the numerous dupes I had as a result of failed attempts using other dedupe apps This never crashed It s graphics always gave an indication that it was at work and not stalled something reassuring It has many helpful additional factors to select the default file to delete and then allows you to walk through each set of duplicates to select others to delete and or change the default file to be deleted Great job guys Thank you 100 GB free space                     Finally after trying countless similar apps I found one that is unique It actually works IvyTowerCritic

It is really easy to use pretty fast has some good auto select settings but for my music files i just want to keep the most dense files like w320kbps versus 120kbps Wish they would make that easy to do without manually searching file size or merely hitting auto and hoping for the best                 Really great but should be able to auto save the largest music files Glide2277

This is terrific I am probably using it at a pretty basic level but it is saving me a lot of time I had the same documents in various places for a variety or reasons and the thought of finding them all in order to delte them and streamline my files was overwhelming this app is making it fun Very easy to use                     Love it copholon

It seems to find files and folders but cannot distinguish between folders and subdirectories Additionally the you have to select line by line the complete functionality of the software does not work such as the Keep Latest Files and Edit Select All to name a few Even after manually selecting the files to delete and then zapping the files remain in place There needs to be more time spent getting this code to work before it is released Don t spend the money 0 99 on this It does fairly good at finding but you cannot do anything once you find them     Does not even work ckr0791

I have mannually been removing duplicates for the past several years clumsy I know So I tried this app today and am extremely happy with the results Cleared nearly 4GB in just photos and music alone Intuitive and concise interface It SHOULD be this easy with built in MAC app but thankfully there is Duplicate Zapper                     Zapping Saves time and frustration mlandsmann
