Free City Maps and Walks (470+ Cities)

Cannot disagree more with the previous comment This app offers city maps for over 470 cities free of charge and all maps are offered in two resolutions User has the option to download low or high resolution maps depending on his needs He can also download the low resolution one first and upgrade to high resolution one later with no charge There also is an option to display nearby bussubway stations restaurants cages etc on map All in all the city maps come quite handy                 Useful

I downloaded this app on my iPod and used it to travel around London Edinburgh and Glasgow I had purchased the London upgrade for more details and Found places I probably wouldnt have otherwise been able to find When the newest iPhone came out I bought it and hooked it up to my computer downloading all my purchased apps City Walks downloaded however none of the downloaded walks transferred and specifically the upgraded one This means I would have to pay for it again No thank you           Upgrades are non transferable

The guides will not down load     Whats up

I have used this app and the previous individual city apps for several years in many mostly european cities the maps are larger therefore reload time is sometimes slower than some other apps these maps include many small streets that i have not seen in other maps this app has saved me many times when i am completely lost after wandering around i feel very confident heading out who knows where knowing that this app will show me where i am and help me find the direction i need to turn this app includes all of the cities i need and i am happy to have a familiar user interface across maps also i have received very prompt and helpful tech support with a question while migrating to the single app version                 Best offline map app I have used

This is a total scam The free version claims to have all these great features and once you dl the app it immediately asks you to upgrade for 5 in order to access all the great features This is total garbage     Scam

This app loads displays an initial screen and then disappears Running iOS 81 on ipad2 Needs a fix to be usable     App loads then disappears

My purchase was a complete waste of money at least for me I found the content to be abbreviated and unhelpful The interface is not easy to use And worst of all you cannot zoom the high definition map large enough to make street names and places legible     Thin content for 499 Madrid

The app is useless unless you buy the upgrades Dont advertise as free if its not     Not Functional

Tried downloading San Francisco several times Each time the download bar showed complete and said it was preparing file sat there and spun for awhile and then crashed Opening it again showed no downloaded file Same thing happened with New York City One download that was supposed to have several tours Athens I think ended up being only 03Mb and actually downloaded But the only useable function was create own tour Eighteen months ago this was a moderately useful app Now it is just a mess     Unreliable major problem downloading files crashes

The message couldnt connect to the server pops out after every 2MB downloaded Takes centuries to download something     Downloading

App says I have nothing downloaded but is still using over 160meg on my iPhone Waste of space     Wastes tons of space no good

I would imagine that people that found this useless did not take the time to learn how to use this app You do indeed need the upgrade but it is well worth it I have now used it in 4 cities Singapore Tokyo Charleston and Savannah This app is perfect if you like to walk not for bus riders or couch potatoes and want to get an overview of the things to see in a city The tours hit all of the same highlights that a tour you would pay for and for 499 this is much cheaper The app provides good information about each site visited and without it you could easily walk right by some interesting places It is also nice to be able to start and stop your tour whenever you want to spend more time at a spot if something else catches your eye or you want to shop or have a drink or a meal The custom build your own tour feature takes a short time to learn but is well worth it You can take all of the highlights from all of the apps tours for a city and pick the ones you want and then it creates a tour for you draws a map and tells you how long the tour will take With this you can skip things that are of no interest to you We have found that if you are a good walker you can usually do the tours in less time than the app indicates I had an issue with reloading a tour and when I contacted City Walks their response was very quick and it enabled me to fix my issue easily I will definitely use this app for any city I visit that the app covers which is all of the big name cities in the world and many of the smaller ones I have found that the more you use the app the better it gets                 City Walks is great

Of course you cant see your device on a sunny day as we experienced in Malmö And if you want to tour in a different order or skip sites no walking directions are provided If you close the app to save battery you have to start over GPS seems to use battery quickly        Not for a sunny day

It is useless without upgrade because in the free version you cannot see the map When tried to upgrade the message inapp purchases turned off was bugged I could not cancel the popup and it kept coming up until I restarted the phone the hard way There are better apps and some free too        Did not like

The only reason this app did not get a five star rating is the fact that you cannot lock in the guide you are using If you leave the app you have to open everything again from the start screen Very irritating when you are walking a city and going in and out of museums and sites where you want to take pictures etc otherwise I loved it Saw places in both the cities I visited that I never would have seen The map and direction function with the 3G was priceless           Sooooo useful

Paid 5 for the upgrade and it was still useless Dont waste your time     Useless

I downloaded this app before my trip to London I went to the catalog of available maps and the London map was free Awesome You can choose between a high definition and medium definition map however the high definition is only 125MB It doesnt need wifi or 4G to work so I got to avoid crazy data charges Very happy with this software even if the map cost money inapp the typical map charges seem to be pretty low                 Free London Map

Of all the walking tours Ive downloaded while traveling the world this is the worst Billed as an audio walking tour the recordings Santa Fe NM version are abysmal The first one runs 40 seconds telling you that people often park at the Capital and where to find restrooms The following site recordings simply read aloud whats written on the screen Word for word Seriously What a waste of money Delete     The socalled audio tour reads whats written on the screen

This app uses GPS in the background and will run the battery out before the end of the day There is no way to just have it use the GPS when I am using the app It is not good to have the iPhone battery dead in a city you are not familiar with     Will kill iPhone battery

This sounds like it would be a very useful app but in reality you never get a walking map well maybe with further upgrades you might eventually get one Even with the first upgrade you only get a list of sights you can find that in any guide book or web search Dont fall for this app     Bad app

This app is Amazing It guided us through multiple Italian cites where we did not have phoneinternet We would have gotten so lost without this app It is so easy to use and helped us find things to see when did not even know about I hope they app more and more cities to their database                 A must for international travel

We just moved to Rome for 7 months and are traveling throughout Italy This app works just as advertised Before we visit a city we pay the 5 for the upgrade for that city Then over a bottle of wine my wife and I pick the sites we want to visit Then I put them in the order we want to do them and we get a walking tour Does this app have every site No But you are bound to walk past just about everything with a 3km route or so Bottom line we think it is worth the money and we hate paper maps so it is very useful                 As advertised

Great app but crashes on iOS 7 upgrade Solution is to delete app then reinstall You need to reselect your cities as the low res versions When you upgrade select restore and it works well              Broken in iOS 7 but fixable

App does not even open in iO7 even after deleting and reinstallingalso be careful I purchased the full version of City Walks Rome when still using iO6 and you could not upgrade and restore your previous purchases into City Maps and Walks 470 CitiesYou need to purchase the same app twice This WAS a nice app     Does not work in iO7
