Note: Your initial sync will sync ALL the recipes in your database to or from your device. This can be a lot of data, especially if your recipes and notes have photos. Subsequent syncs will ...
I am fed up with this app and the developers seem to have abandoned it I have used it for about 4 years I originally chose this one because I had MacGourmet on my Mac It was okay for viewing recipes from my Mac and occasionally importing them The sync works well However the developers haven t updated this app in years and it is no longer working for me The import feature on the iOs app works very poorly even from sites that it recognizes The importer won t even open a URL if you copy and paste it with the http at the beginning The app suddenly quits when you try to save the recipe or add a picture and then your progress is lost and you have to go through the whole process over again There is no Safari extension to import directly from Safari If I primarily used the Mac app I d probably just stick with this but since I ve mainly replaced my laptop with my iPad I ll probably try a different app It s unfortunate that Mariner just doesn t seem to care about making this app better         The developers don t update this app Rachel575
I have this app and use it with MacGourmet Deluxe on my computer Love this I can sync on my phone iPad and computer Super convenient I ve used MacGourmet for years and whenever I had a problem their tech people were very supportive                     Very happy Dressmeindiamonds
Sync issues are still abundant Maybe it does maybe it doesn t If it does does it repeat them several times 50 50 chance yes Does it change preparation time categories and sequences between devices You betcha Does it then crash when you try to delete and edit those errors Absolutely Also when deleting recipes Also when reordering preparation instructions Basically just a lot of crashes Had I paid more than 1 99US for this app I d be pretty p ed but as it is easy to try and find a better replacement it d be difficult to imagine finding a worse one     Beautiful maybe but definitely not functional GrantsPass
I love the convenience of having all my recipes available wherever I am The search features and categories work great My issue is with syncing between my Mac my iPhone and my iPad On multiple occasions I have had to delete the app from my phone or iPad because notes or directions are not syncing and usually are completely missing I also get frustrated when I try to download recipes directly from another site almost never works I ve seen the message we re working on it for far too long to believe it Give this app some attention to make it really great             Not all features sync OneBeth
I ve had MacGourmet in OSX forever My hard drive failed as did my backup but MacGourmet s cloud service saved the day and all 4 000 plus recipes are back on my MBP What does that have anything to do with iOS apps you ask Well Gourmet is the sibling to MacGourmet and it s a wonderful app You can sync all or certain parts of your recipe collection to Gourmet and take it with you Mariner Software Support is awesome I highly recommend MacGourmet and Gourmet they dovetail perfectly                     Thank you Mariner for having a cloud for MacGourmet silverhawk1
I really love the app but wish syncing worked I share the app with my wife and we both have it on our phones and laptops Unfortunately my phone shows that I have 698 recipes and my laptop shows I have nearly 1000 When I sync new recipes imported via my phone appear on my laptop but not vice versa Ugh             Out of Sync Hard2Satisfy
Don t pay for this app or wait until it goes on sale It still needs so much work And I ve been using some form of MacGourmet since near the beginning so years The phone app doesn t sync every recipe off the cloud I ll be at the store go to find a recipe and it s not there Even after syncing from my Mac multiple times Can t delete shopping lists so they pile up and you have to wade through hundreds to find the one you need The meal planner isn t on your phone app at all which is so not helpful It s only a helpful app to look up a recipe if it s there Could be a great companion app but it s still not after all this time Sigh wish it were Update I m done I m outta here Got a new iMac did the migration thing and everything was messed up So I sync ed that made everything ten times worse Imported an export and bam its an utter train wreck Contacted tech support and someone did respond but he stopped responding and was of zero help It s like he didn t even read what my issues were I tried contacting support in several other ways to no avail I m being ignored The iMac app is losing functionality not gaining it s going backwards Constant crashing fewer and fewer sites to clip from It s pathetic I ve wasted hours upon hours upon hours of mindlessness trying to fix things and this isn t the first time I ve run into headaches with all this and their useless support They clearly don t care about this product line in the least Don t buy the iMac app Don t get the phone app You ll waste your life dealing with all its hassles and that s stupid         Helpful but not Squishypie
I ll second another reviewer It really needs to have the ability to look at the menu planner and open recipes from that meals I use an old iPad in the kitchen to display recipes while I cook For years I d just print them them to pdf and view them on the iPad or just print them out on paper I was hoping to cut that step out of the process and just pull up my meal with the associated recipes and switch between them while making the dishes Gourmet makes me search for each recipe each time I want to check a step in a different recipe lt s not easy to flip back and forth I have about 2 000 recipes so if I don t remember the exact recipe name I still have to dig through the search results Basically it ruins my cooking rhythm so I ll be sticking with pdf or paper If I m doing a single recipe Gourmet is easy to read and use I also like the shopping list sync In all fairness I just migrated to MacGourmet after I think 15 years at least judging by my oldest backups with TheRecipeManager and only bought this app as an afterthought                 Ok but missing menu view Gadwall
I have used MacGourmet for years but have recently 6 months ago replaced it with Paprika MacGourmet is the app I want to love It is beautiful functional customizable except it lacks one important feature I cannot check on my phone for what meal I have planned for tonight I have a busy household I don t want to go run to my Mac to see what I had planned for dinner tonight and if the kids have eaten the ingredients Now MacGourmet obviously won t tell me what the kids have eaten but a simple menu screen on the iPhone would let me take it from there From what I ve heard someone bought MacGourmet and is now just riding on the developer s coat tails No enhancements just same old app I m sorry to leave MacGourmet but that one feature is a must Too bad MacGourmet s presentation is much better than Paprika but Paprika imports recipes more easily and the no menu planner on the iPhone app is a deal breaker I ll keep an eye to see if I can come back As I said I WANT to love this app but I need an accessible menu planner function             Beautiful functional but missing a needed feature TurtleJogger
I was researching recipe and meal planning software for my family I downloaded this app and the desktop trial The iPad app crashes often and is useless unless you sync it to a desktop version Disappointing and made my decision easy I m going with Cook n or Recipe Manager definitely not wasting more time with this app         App Crashes and not useful unless you have desktop version also GreenIsGreat
I have been using this app for at least 6 years and it s been essential for having recipes with me at all times sharing recipes meal planning remembering which recipes are a family member s favorite or seasonal for a particular month using key words to tag recipes it s made eating well way more convenient than when I was using Evernote for this purpose I sync with the cloud I used after wi fi syncing for years but this is far easier I took away a star for the time when I had duplicates but that took about 30 minutes of troubleshooting and I still think this app was worth that hiccup                 Have loved this app for a long time AmyTX
I LOVE this app and happen to think it is one of the best and most reliable easy to use recipe apps out there I have 700 recipes with Gourmet Mobile MacGourmet I add recipes a few times each week either in my laptop or any one of my 3 mobile devices As I travel a lot and live between different homes and a boat my recipes are always with me which makes my life really easy The format is great it offers several different ways to print or view You can email a recipe straight from your app and recipes look professional I have not mastered the nutritional portion but I have not put any effort into it either I use my Mac Book Pro Laptop as the base and back it up to an external drive I ve only had a crash once many years ago and that was in the early days and because I had my backup the company walked me thru getting my recipes installed in a newer version I started using MacGourmet when it was just a startup used to be able to speak directly to the developer before you could sync via Wifi between devices in the early Palm device days I have 200 recipes of my Mom Dad s I have created and printed cookbooks nothing fancy from the app and given them as gifts to family and friends by having created categories like Mark s Favorite Mom and Dad etc I am vegan but my family is not so being able to segregate the recipes is an awesome help It searches easily by words ingredients not just keywords Sometimes I input recipes in my iPads or my iPhone Syncing is amazing not sure how it does it but it captures the recipes perfectly You have to learn the app but it is easy The input is also easy to cut and paste on the mobile devices as are photographs of your recipes that you take a screen shot off the internet and then paste in from your camera file I sync easily between all my devices 2 iPads iPhone and my MacBook Pro doesn t matter which one I input the recipe to first I keep my software current on all my devices and think that is a big part of the software working great Buy it learn it if you are a real recipe collector and cook you will love it The fact that I have been using this app for what is close to 30 years should tell you something right there                     In my opinion the best recipe app out there bruna831
Good luck trying to get a response from support I ve used this program for over 10 years It used to be great Now won t download recipes from any website I ve tried Bon Appetit cooks illustrated ny times and many others 5 emails to support go unanswered Is the company folding Do not buy this product May 2017 update I finally reached someone at the company after an email threatening to leave a BBB complaint They said they don t have enough support staff to correct the download problem Evidently it pertains to flash websites essentially all of them At first they said it would be fixed by July Then they changed it to late fall Don t hold your breath that s what I was told two years ago     Can t download recipes any longer Support disappeared 3for3
It is ok for looking at recipes but it crashes when I try and make a shopping list         Crashes LoreListener
I love MacGourmet on my Mac but this app won t register my email address so I cannot sync recipes Just wasted 2     Don t like Lore132
I have been a user for many many years and have raved about this product to everyoneuntil now After being forced to spend more money for an upgrade since the old version was no longer being supported I am now unable to sync my shopping lists Customer service is non existent and tech support has been ignoring me for months since they cant figure out the problem I would like a refund but of course can not reach anyone I am beginning to wonder if anyone actually works there anymore As far as Im concerned it is theft to take money for something that does not work     terrible would give it zero if I couldespecially the company
Initially would not launch With updates application works but requires the latest MacGourmet application which was released AFTER I purchased this application I purchased version two of MacGourmet and recently upgraded to version 3 Now I need to drop an additional 24 to upgrade again No thank you Mariner software I will not purchase another application from you     Junk application
I am giving up on this and looking for a new recipe app It wont import no customer support and I refuse to rekey all my recipes into this new version Very sad that a great product was gutted     Bring back Mac Gourmet
So now that we have to sync through the Mariner Cloud NOTHING WORKS I have only 3 of my many recipes showing on my iPad Totally useless Why cant you go back to syncing through WiFi with my desktop version of MacGourmet That worked seamlessly Now my iPad is useless as a kitchen recipe tool Mariner you really goofed I am ready to go to a different recipe software after years with MacGourmet Very disappointed Tried to login to the Mariner Cloud and that wasnt working either Wish I could give it a negative star rating Very disappointed     Horrible
Long time user of MacGourmet A bit annoyed that I had to upgrade to use the app And the database update was a pain However I had great email support Best thing is buying the app for my grown kids and giving them my sync info They now have all my recipes on their devices No more calls from the supermarket              Love the syncing
I have been unable to import any recipes from websites Upon contacting technical support they suggested I use MacGourmet deluxe to import the recipes I want Dont waste your money on this unless app you already have or are planning on purchasing MacGourmet deluxe     No desktop app Big problem
I really like MacGourmet Deluxe so was delighted to find the iOS app Im happy with the way it handles recipes but the shopping list handling in Gourmet does not work well Shopping lists sync okay except that multiple lists seem to come over if you combine recipes into one shopping listthe combined list and one list for each of the recipes And there seems to be no way to remove a shopping list from Gourmet Even if you remove the list in MacGourmet then sync every list that ever existed in Gourmet seems to remain It becomes unusable I have a few tickets related to this open on the Mariner site Since shopping list functionality is a main reason to have this on my phone not having that really hurts the usefulness of the app        Problems with shopping list
The new Gourmet for iOS can sync via the cloud but its completely broken Creating a new list on a Mac may or may not end up on your iPhone when you sync it Its utterly unreliable and I wish I still had the old version of MacGourmet Touch that would only sync directly with the Mac via WiFi At least that one worked every time Now I find myself having to email a shopping list to myself because I cant get it to sync to my phone via the app     MactoiOS sync is completely broken
A few months ago importing recipes from web sites stopped working one of the most important features for me No explanation whatsoever no fix        Web Import Broken
Lost ability to import to web Mac version has the same problem Dumped both after using for a couple of years for a competitor     Gourmet for IOS
I have reloaded this application 4 times and now I am just about ready to give up The shopping list when opened will crash the applicationplease fix this since I do not take my Mac with me shoppingso far very disappointed        Mom at large
With the release of iOS 701 Gourmet will not even launch The app has always been unstable but now its completely unusable Time to bite the bullet and move to another product for recipe management     Crashes constantly
My Mac my iPad and my iPhone all can synchronize their recipes Got married and my wife bought the app and got all my recipes in one shot As her daughter said everything that is mine is now hers Not long ago my recipe collection was a ratty pile of printed web pages handwritten notes printed emails and iPhone screen shots Stuffing them all in a binder was an improvement but now that theyre in Gourmet and Mac Gourmet I can scale them print them see them from across the kitchen on my iPad and of course share them Last night my wife of three weeks wanted to make the roasted rosemary garlic red potatoes that go so well with the meatloaf she fished out of the freezer For a pittance she bought this wonderful app and had the recipe scaled to fit how many potatoes she found ready to go Life is better with this app in it I had to reset the cloud server sync information due to a partial synchronization due to an internet connection interruption and oddly the cloud server itself was not letting me log in for a short while but now the sync works so well it is almost creepy I added a note to a recipe on my iPhone and it popped up in the recipe open on my Mac as I watched When it works it works beautifully Tech support has always been awesome I feel like I have friends who work there I guess I do                 So good it makes me want to cook more often
I gave this one star because there is no option for giving no stars Yes it will sync to MacGourmet Deluxe 40 but most other features are nonfunctional Emails to Tech Support go unanswered Especially reprehensible is that Mariner dragooned customers into paying for this upgrade by not supporting compatibility of the earlier version with later iOS versions     Dreadful
Had MacGourmet Deluxe 3 and was able to sync with my iPhone then it quit working It didnt take long to get used to having my favorite recipes accessible at all times so I was excited that this was possible again Not thrilled about having to pay an upgrade fee to get MacGourmet 4 but at least it was half the cost of buying new Thats something I guess Just hope I wont have to pay again in the next couple of years to upgrade yet again                 Fantastic
When a company charges top dollar for applications the expectation that they will at least work is high I dont like paying 54 dollars and have lists so broken that I cant use them Sync isnt 100 and considering those are the only noticeable improvements over 30 buying a socalled upgrade is frustrating and not worth it Save your money     4999 plus 399high expectations
I use this app almost daily and would give it a 5 star however the last few days it has been crashing when I opened the app Ive already reloaded the app once and it looks like Ill need to again But it takes a lot my precious time to reload Hope this issue will become a top priority on your fix list           Crash problem
The app comes loaded with nonfunctional features Buyer beware     Awful
For starters cant get shopping list to perform correctly When searching for an item it fails to populate to the next field And speaking of shopping list when is it going to be correctedupdated so that it will sync with all Apple devices Still cant make my shopping list on the Mac and have it sync with my iPhone I still love this app therefore the 5 star rating but it definitely needs some work                 Need an update for IOS8
Since my phone and my wifes iPhone 5 have been updated to iOS 71 the app instantly crashes It has been almost a month and still no fix     Still wont work in ios7
It claims the email I have had for 10 years is invalid and will not sign in to the Mariner cloud account Going back to the old app and canceling credit card payment     Cant log in
I recently purchased macgourmet deluxe because of the app and now I find out the app isnt compatible Mad I spent money to find out it didnt work     Completely Worthless
This is a fantastic recipe app and ideal for me to enter recipes on the go and sync back to MacGourmet 4 it does not work with any prior version That said it crashes all the time In addition to it occasionally crashing when Im using a feature of the app usually entering a recipe I havent been able to open the app for 2 days now I touch the icon it launches and immediately crashes Ridiculous for a paid app I will definitely update if this changes Hoping the developer is invested in the product and fixes the bugs Quickly I would not buy the app until this is fixed Im reverting back to the old app because this one is so unreliable        Great when it doesnt crash
Like many others I used the older version and had no problems syncing my iPadphone and update new notes and or recipes As stated by many others that version is no longer supported I have had nothing but problems since Mariner Software has taken over and forced everyone to spend more money on the upgraded version Although i am not happy about spending the extra money on this upgrade I am even more unhappy that I spent so much time putting recipes in the program in order to have them at home and on my iPadphone and now I have NOTHING Also as many have reported Mariner Software is the worst Consider yourself lucky if they dont get back to you if they do you will most likely get a snippy reply and no help     Waste of time and money
Ive have this app for about two years now and it has never worked right It will not sync from my computer to my iPhone or iPad Im sick of trying to get it to work It has been a huge waste of money Dont waste your money DO NOT buy this app     Terrible
Sort of a deal breakernot acceptable     Crashes on startup
When I update a recipes instructions on any device iPad iPhone or Mac and sync that information does not carry to other devices Everything else ingredients etc seems to syncupdate fine I think there is a glitch in the current build           Good app sync isnt great
Rewriting you old review as of 1115 the sync between Mac and iPad works However the lists still dont work neither on Mac nor on mobile devices hence the 4 stars Great customer service though so I hope theyll fix it              Nice
iPad version opens to blank screen and one option on top left corner of the screen entitled Lists This menu is not properly formatted for iOS 7 and is partially buried underneath the OS header This app seems like it is still in beta development Crashes somewhat often This app would benefit from an overhaul of the themes to make better use of space Many of the themes look outdated and have nonadjusting font sizing that is too small for a recipe app Poor use of screen space can also be a problem No nutrition information as supported in MacGourmet The app feels very empty and basic compared to others Automatic syncing is really manual syncing Also syncing is quite slow Prefer the Paprika app for syncing and ability to add recipes automagically from websites Only would use this program because of its Mac counterpart MacGourmet4 and its ability to convert US measurements to metric and adding nutrition information even though this app does not support displaying it In the end I will probably drop this app and MacGourmet and move to Paprika or another solution     Clunky interface Tedious syncing Old looking themes Needs more updates
App always crashes immediately upon launch Completely useless     Crashes
Ive been using MacGourmet a long time but now the new app is not working at all It just does not start or open Im using an iPhone with IOS 7 Very disappointed     Will not open
I love this program on my MacBook and iPad but is useless on my iPhone 5s Opens and crashes immediately Please fix     Does not work with iOS 712
I love this app and use it almost daily I love the fact that in this upgraded version I can sync my devices through the cloud The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that all the information from my recipes on my Mac does not transfer to the iPad I was in hopes this would be addressed in this upgraded version of the app but it was not I use my iPad in the kitchen and if I want to see notes related to a recipe or nutritional information I have to go to my computer and look it up The information does not transfer to the iPad with the recipe Once that is addressed I would give the app 5 stars              Good but not perfect
Syncing is brutally slow at best and doesnt work at worst Dont waste your money on either     Steer clear of this app and its desktop brother
I purchased the old version of this app Mac Gourmet for 50 and now it is no longer supported They intentionally disabled the functions on the old app hopping that people would pay for the new one Not only that but there isnt even an upgrade feeyou have to pay full price Changing the name was a slick move also because the App Store doesnt recognize it as something that youve purchased before A good company would have left the app that I paid for alone and given me the option to upgrade Theyre nothing but a bunch of crooks that give the App Store a bad reputation     Buyer beware
I love this app but Ive been having lots of issues with the iOS app and the desktop app with the ability to import from websites In the iOS app I got to a website to search for the recipe and the search wont start and Im not about to try typing in a whole website address to find a recipe every time The desktop app is having similar problems where Im still doing quite a bit manually Since the import feature is one of things I liked best about this Im getting really aggravated with this feature not working              Needs more bug updates
Longtime user cloud syncing never worked right it always duplicates every recipe     Syncing doesnt work
I am a chef and used this app all through culinary school and use it still in my restaurant It is an absolutely perfect app for creating and printing my recipes for my team to use This companys customer service in helping me upgrade from the old version to the new one while keeping all of my recipes was absolutely fantastic                 A must have for foodies and chefs
This app is extremely frustrating Its slow and doesnt import well Ive hit the import button several times and nothing happens Im very annoyed wish I hadnt wasted my money     Useless
I migrated to the Mac app MacGourmet Deluxe after using A Cooks Book for ten years One of the strong point in favor of the migration was the iPhone and iPad app Gourmet Not only does it work seamlessly I use my iPad as as a recipe book whilst I am cooking and am able to see all the ingredients necessary for any recipe in my collection while I am out shopping and happen upon an item on sale or something that looks especially tasty I plan my menus shopping and even pricing in the app along with pictures and notes etc The developer is very responsive and engaged with users which is a bonus as every app user knows I give both the mobile and desktop versions five stars                 My Five Star Assistant
Have over 800 recipes in my MacGourmet The iPhone app allows me to look these up on the go but lacks greatly when attempting to create and sync Shopping Lists I am very tech savy as tech is my career        Difficult to sync Shopping List
Works ok on iPad but crashes every time on launch on iPhone What a shame     Crashes on launch Unusable on iPhone
Was working great Now as soon as it launches is quits Please fix           Wont open
Wish I could give this a negative 10 Does not sync with my version of MacGourmet No support to help getting this sorted out Paying an additional 50 to buy a new version of software that so many say doesnt work is not comforting to try and see if I can crack the code on this software Use to love this program and the app that allowed me to sync over WiFi Now its garbage     Rip off piece of crap
I have used MacGourmet for several years and have 2000 recipes in it I had MacGourmet Touch but didnt use it because it was so poor iOS is better than what we had but for the companion to the premier desktop application it falls very short The support for iOS is very weak The import from a website function is cumbersome and there is no way to clip a recipe that does not import The sync through the cloud is very slow and requires too many steps and too much bandwidth for those of us with limits It would be great to be able to sync through iTunes through a cable or wifi connection Several of the categorization functions that are so valuable in the desktop version do not match the iOS program so after importing on iOS and syncing the items dont match Another iOS program is rapidly becoming my favorite although their desk top is weak With the convenience of mobile the desktop is becoming less important so I will soon change           Falls Short
I think some updates have been implemented since some of those negative reviews have been written This app works perfectly for and I sync between my iPhone 5 iPad and computer Id love to see an Apple Watch app as well                 Awesome App
Long time MacGourmet user but this IOS App is UNACCEPTIBLE Apps will not properly sync Now I cant get the directions and notes on my recipes Please get this working     Not Syncing
Seriouslyif I could go back in time two updates ago I would iPhone app was decent then at least it was possible to actually view your recipes while cooking I was really hoping the latest update would fix the incessant crashing that started with the last update Alas that is not the case The iPhone app is now completely useless unless this issue is resolved Do not waste your time and money on this pieceofjunk iPhone app     Love the Mac app iPhone app still crashes after latest update
Now it crashes cant even get it to open on the phone So sorry I put all my recipes here moving over to Paprika     I used to love it
Sync is painful compared to the preMainer version I would prefer local wifi sync and not be dependent on Mariners servers Could not delete more than two files before the app crashed Three stars would be the rating for a no charge version I expect more from apps I need to spend money to use        Human
