GPS Checker is an utility for satellite navigation systems or other GPS applications on your iPhone. Usually iPhone is very slow in detecting satellite signals, causing too much time lost at the opening of GPS ...
I am very glad I found this application and it works as described I typically use the TomTom application and I have been receiving poor gps signal error messages Since gps is functioning fine for other applications there was nothing Apple could do TomTom was familiar with the issue and simply advised me to purchase their iPhone car kit despite me having a 3Gs This application is easy to use and it restores TomToms usability                 Works as promised
Update I spoke to the developer and learned the following When the application reports signal engage now you can close application it is probably best to tap keep open Then examine the bars displayed If you have five blue bars then everything should be just fine If only four green bars your GPS signal strength may STILL be below what is necessary for most GPS applications to run and you need to keep waiting until five blue bars appear Then and only then tap stop check and then close app Since this necessary procedure is neither intuitive nor obvious I am only going to give the application 4 stars Ideally there should be a user set threshold The app would then auto close when the threshold signal strength was reliably reached Otherwise the GPS checker should just continue to run until closed by the user via the stop button I also have not done enough testing too time consuming to do to determine whether loading this application waiting for the five blue bars and then loading your desired GPS application saves any time over just loading your desired GPS application and waiting for that application to attain the desired GPS signal If your GPS application does not provide any indication of the adequacy of the GPS signal strength then GPS Checker certainly would be helpful to run beforehand in my opinion Original Review I am willing to give this app one star rather than zero for its novel intention but unfortunately it failed to provide me with a GPS signal In my testing scenario I use MotionXGPS which displays GPS signal strength In locations with weak GPS reception the MotionXGPS display will start off showing no signal then triangulation and finally a bar graph of GPS signal strength Another app that I use RoutesMap immmediately shows GPS signal strength by a colored bar graph In both situations I anticipated that by running GPS Checker first followed by RoutesMap or MotionXGPS that this would make the second application immediately display the detection of a suitable GPS signal By themselves the two applications either do not attain a suitable GPS signal or require a period of time before a suitable GPS signal is attained When tested even though GPS Cheker reported signal engage now you can close application loading MotionXGPS or Routes Map secondly did NOT indicate any GPS signal acquisition or did not result in any speedier attainment of a suitable GPS signal Even more tellingly if I place my iPhone into airplane mode On a setting which I believe disables GPS GPS Checker still tells me that the signal has been engaged There may be some other utility for GPS Checker or perhaps I am misunderstanding its operation but it certainly does not perform as I had expected              Works but usage is confusing
I am trying to use this app with 312 and is telling me that it needs 40 to work This is not advertised in the add and I wasted my money for nothing     Does not work
If you want to give up a buck better give it to homeless or donate somewhere else This app simulates that it works while in fact it only eats up your battery only Any other satellite tracker paid or free will do the work Just search for anything satellite or GPS tracker or checker etc Save yourself a time     useless waste of money
