Ive been using Milestone Press awesome guidebooks for years so was super excited when I found out they have an app to complement their hiking guides Downloaded it right away and have so far used it on the Wildcat Creek Trail and the Raven Cliffs Trail Amazing waterfalls I even used it to help me find a waterfall on Pigeon Roost Creek that you have to bushwhack to It was so much easier with the gps maps Its great I like to research the hikes with my guidebooks and then download the ones I want to do onto my phone                 Love the Guidebooks Now I Love the App
I love this app omg thank u we love to hike all over A couple things though please add the linville NC trails and all trails around that area please it would b so cool just to carry my iPod in and not a map Heck add them all wow u guys r awesome I have so been waiting for this app Thank u guys u rock                 Love this
Im so excited about the update to this app The new design is easy to use and nice to look at I just this app when Im out and about and want to hike but dont have a guidebook with me It finds the closest trails to me and then with just a click and I all the info I need about the hike Im near The turnbyturn directions are great and I really like that the map allows you to track your progress using the phones GPS I cant wait until all the Milestone Press guidebook hikes are available                 Love the update
The app itself may be free but it is only a listing of maps you can buy There are no free ones It would be better if the app had a minimal charge but included maps This is especially so since not much information is given about each hike to justify purchasing a map I considered buying maps but based on the minimal pictures and minimal detail of each hike offered for sale I decided that the maps themselves would likely also be minimal in detail and graphics     Misleading poor design minimal detail minimal pictures
This is a great app Twice I have gotten confused on the trail and the map plus GPS location saved my butt I wish they had a discount price if you purchased all of the hikes or a subscription but other than that this is a very useful app and a pleasure to use The developer is very responsive and helpful                 Great app
Each trail is 99 cents Totally not worth that much No free trails to test their app you have to pay to find out Plenty of free paper maps and info available everywhere Save your money for new boots     Got tons of cash This apps for you
I bought a hike but have been unable to download it to my phone     Hiker
This is a great app for easily finding some amazing hiking trails This app is visually stunning and is one of the better hiking apps that I have come across                 Great App
I bit and paid 099 just to see how the maps looked Basically it overlays a very simple linedrawing map over a Google satellite view The line map does not have contour lines and its too opaque to see the underlying Google view This app could be dangerous if someone unfamiliar with a trail tried to use it for navigation Save your change and buy a real paper map     Dont bother
I downloaded this app back in 2012 when it first came out and was really excited about taking some hikes with my phone Like some of the other reviewers have pointed out it had a real download problem I sent an email to Milestone Press at the time and was told theyd let me know when a new version was available Earlier this winter I finally heard back from them It seems that they had to hire a whole new development firm and redesign the app from scratch No wonder it took so long I am super impressed with all the changes Those guys really did their homework Now finding a hike is a snap I can sort for hikes close to where I live here in Asheville or if Im planning a trip down to north Georgia I can enter in a zip and find the hikes closest to there Ive downloaded and taken a number of hikes and everything works great If youre reading through the reviews dont even pay attention to those from 2012 its hardly the same app                 New Version is Awesome
I downloaded this neat looking app and then decided to invest 099 for a test hike The app started downloading then it just sat there for what seemed like forever and never did download the file I called the developer and he said that they have been getting complaints like mine and that I should try deleting the app and reinstall it which I did Once reinstalled the hike I had purchased still wasnt there in my hikes list So I gave it another try with a different hike file with the same result It just sat there for about 15 minutes before I gave up and left a nasty message on the developers phone I guess Ill now have to fight with iTunes over the 2 download charges Tis is a nice idea but they bugs make it useless and frustrating Imagine if you were out at a trailhead and wanted to download the file I gave this app one star on the review just to be able to post it even though it doesnt deserve even that     Avoid this app like the plague
I found out about this app from a Facebook post that included a link I think maybe someone used the share feature in the app to make the post about a hike theyd done In any case Im glad to have found it Its so easy to find a good hike no matter where I am in the mountains There must be hundreds to choose from The first hike I took using it was in Dupont forest Getting to the trailhead was easy The directions even told me how long itd take from my house to get there On the trail the directions were right on and I always knew just where I was on the map If you like to hike get this app                 If you like to hike get this app
All the reviews that mention how this hangs when you download a hike are correct Be duly warned     Hangs when you download
There appears to be a listing on the homepage but the only thing that shows up is My Hikes Below that are rows of arrows that go down the page Unless you hit the arrows to go to into the row you have no idea what youre looking at Cool idea poor layout Fix the menu please        Wheres the list
