I read the eNews apps Guardian Star Advertiser lived near Hilo for the last 5 years been around Oahu for over 30 years and visited Maui and Kauai at various times The one news source I followed most was the San Jose Mercury News So far I am still looking for a good island news source that offers an eNews option HNN is to me still in alpha or early beta but I would enjoy seeing it continue to develop based on a 20 minute review
What did you do to it Cant get stories to update on my phone iOS 7 and doesnt work on my iPad since its an old model and cant run past iOS 5 Please fix this Terrible after update
Used to be good but now crashes constantly and has error messages Dont waste your time downloading just use star advertiser its much better Total trash

It look like a new app Though when I click on links to stories they dont work Push notification links to breaking stories dont ever work either I just want to find the late breaking story and they are never to be found Terrible

I like getting the breaking news notifications When I try to open the app to read more the app opens then closes When I try to open the app again it opens then closes So annoying I have to read the details from another app Needs fixing
We need to be able to click on the alert and go right to that storyreport I dont think that is too much to ask we really dont want to have to search for the story that we are already interested in Not even considering that the search results are pretty lame and vague I second that motion

Has a nice title page but thats all this app is good for I have a iPhone 6 so maybe its not compatible Stories or videos dont fully download or rather wont open at all Disapponted

Poorly designed functionality It routinely sends alerts but there is no story attached to the alert only copy that trumpets the power of live updates Basically a calling to watch the news on TV Geez if I carried a TV around in my pocket I could But that is why I carry a phone Also forwarding stories to friends is a waste if the friend doesnt have the HNN app they cant open the story Hawaii is the first name heretechnologically behind the rest of the planet NOT GREAT

I used to really like this app but cramming pop up ads is getting rather annoying I dont mind the banner ads but please get rid of the pop up ads Update Changed the rating from 3 stars to 1 star Im getting tired of the pop up ads Every three to four clicks a pop up add comes up and if your location settings is off you now get a message to turn it on for 3rd party ads to access your location Because of this Im ready to erase this app Im starting to hate this news source Its ok

It works well in my iPhone 4s I watch live news over wifi What i have notice is that in my ipad do not work well cant watch live news and sometimes it do not open at all Pls fix it on iPad Live news
The surf report has been stuck on the same report for over a year or completely non existent We live in Hawaii knowing what the wave action is is rather important even for non surfers And I agree getting a news alert would make a lot more since if we could actually see the story we are being alerted about Not search for it or wait 15 minutes for it to update Surfs up

I moved earlier this year to Maui and downloaded HNN Weather and News apps so that I could get local information about whats going on It was great they had a great source for local news and I didnt have to sort through all the unnecessary garbage that I could get anywhere else With this most current version theyve eliminated local news completely as a separate section and only included and top stories Now you have to sort through all the crap to find out what you really want to know which is local news HNN is no longer LOCAL
I was disappointed that I could not access live feed during the hurricane Iselle I also could not access the storm tracker Please fix Live feed does not work
When my phone alerts me to breaking news and I click on the alert the App opens and does not show the related story Needs a new app developer I know its local news but seriously I could write a better app in my sleep Boo
Hawaii news now has great content and timely news coverage At one time this app was excellent But in the past four months their desire to make revenue through in app ads has created a terrible user experience Ads pop up at random with a 3 second wait before being able to close leaving you back at the start of the story to scroll down again Banner ads also run across the bottom constantly Really sad changes that have ruined the experience for me Ruined by invasive ads

With this last update the audio from the live feed only works about half of the time Intermittent audio

Tiled layout is annoying Cant even read the full headlines Have to click each story to read the complete headlines which means I have very little incentive to use the app If the truncated headlines are intentional to pique curiosity and try and get more clicks its not going to work on me I hate layouts like that Besides having huge tiles so you can only see a few headlines at a time on a screen is annoying enough Reading the news should be easy not an exercise in scrolls and clicks like were playing a video game Annoying layout

Now every time I open the app tells me that Im not connected to the Internet so the stories cannot update They are updating though but not as frequently as they used to That error message comes up every 20 or 30 seconds Deleting and reinstalling to see if that helps UPDATE Deleting it didnt help and now the app crashes on the welcome screen Deleting it and downloading another app for local news Used to be Great
I this app Me living in hawaii its just so wonderful It gives me alerts when something happens and the weather how cool is that This is the bomb
