The Hikesmith is now available as a free download on Apple Store for both iPhone and iPad owners.The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 2.6 MB to download. The new Hikesmith app version 1.0 has been updated on 2014-03-05. Used this app for a hike last weekend I loaded the gpx file to the web site and it showed up in the app The app simply shows the hike route and your current location on a map It worked and there were no crashes or major issues The only problem was that there seems to be no caching of the maps so every time you scroll or zoom the map disappears and has to reload This causes it to be slow limits its usefulness and unfortunately leads to frustration Functional but needs caching _g_
