HooToo TripMate

The device works great but this app is very limited in functionality The interface feels old but is functional HooToo Tripmate Plus app is a better option than this one           Use HooToo Tripmate Plus app instead

This device and app are awesome I love that it even allows Airplay between devices if you use it as a secure network adding for an open hotspot If I could have any feature it would be to be able to turn off power to the USB port for flash drives when the device powers off Other than that it is a virtual network Swiss Army knife of use cases                 Loving it

This is one of the coolest devices apps available However it no longer works since June I know 3 other people that have a HooToo and theirs wont work anymore either Once we try to access files on an external hard drive it kicks us out Whats up           No worky

I really like the app and integration that has com chormecast only thing missing is continuous video playback and the ability to open from other apps              Very good but

When I updated to iOS 9 I lost the ability to update the settings for my travel router and cannot get into new wireless networks please update so that I can use this on trips again     iOS 9 settings broken

The app is really nice it works with the wireless hoo two devices The app just needs to be updated to play other formats it plays MPEG4 no problems there are a few other formats that it has problems with the need to update it to work better Maybe they can use VCL play or something I really like this app and the device and the app here which supports it I just wish they would update it so it plays all different formats with the option to view in so if you have VCL player or a different player you can use it And for user settings to allow a user to view we need some more options so they can choose different folders or so for set up in admin for guests to watch Thanks           Little help needed

Update May 26th 2015 Response to review of May 21st 2015 from Arcoth The comment you made that the App can only play files the iDevice can play isnt exactly true The HooToo TripMate Plus App that was the first version played many more filetypes than the iDevice could play it just didnt have the audio codec for the Dolby or other special audio tracks but the video played The only video it was having problems with was a simple HighRes MOV video file that this nonPlus version played smoothly and still does better than the Plus versions do Its not a matter of needing transcoding because the iDevice did that not the HooToo router This company downgraded the functionality of the first Plus version with each updated plus version after If its a transcoding issue why does the newest plus version updates still have sputter issues playing simple High Resolution MOV files but this nonPlus version plays them smoothly Because its NOT an issue involving transcoding thats why Its an issue of programming and not including the audio and video codecs needed to allow playing the video and audio tracks the 1st Plus version played Its a matter of The licensing costs to include them and the programming code needed to allow the smooth playback of the videos The iDevice in my case the iPad2 was playing the video files you say need transcoding with the 1st Plus version of the App so theres no question about needing transcoding here SunValleyTek took out the programming code that played them before in the 1st Plus version of the App besides screwingup the programming that plays HighRes MOV videos that plays well in the nonPlus version this version Original Review Sorry HooToo your programming skills are still no good with the Plus version of your TripMate Plus App The nonplus older version v13464 plays MOV HighRes videos better so why does your Plus version still stutter so badly at playing them And you took away all the audio codecs from the App to play other filetypes audio when the video playedeven though the video still stuttered with them too TO SunValleyTek Youre not helping yourselves by limiting the Nano Routers firmware and insodoing messing up the firmware and Apps functions You have a nice hardware product but youre not allowing it to work fully and easily for your customers This is VERY foolish businesswise You would sell hundreds of thousands more of these routers if you made them fully functional and opened the original firmware functionality by using the OpenWRT packages This latest plus version of this iDevice App nolonger plays the other video files that the veryfirst Plus version played even though the soundaudio wasnt there the video still played so why are you so cheap to not include the audio codec for them too Instead of getting better this Plus version is getting worse from earlier versions of the plus version for video playback of all the files SunValleyTek may as well not bother with the App since they dont seem to be able to get the video playback to work well enough anyway and should make the routers firmware fully functional using the OpenWRT OSalready installed for customers who cant install OpenWRT themselves If anyone has the HooToo TripMate TM02 or TM04 youd be better off changing the firmware to OpenWRT and using a 3rd party video player since youll need one anyway to play videos with the original TripMate firmware and this App because their Apps cant play them well enough to enjoy using it and is a waste of time and space to download them to your iDevice You can get more info about this at forum dot openwrt dot org viewtopic dot phpid53014 Take the spaces and brackets away from the line above before using it replace the dot with a and keep the OpenWRT will open up all the functionality of the RaLink RT5350F chip and allow you to add more optionslike a WebCamera driver too besides the DLNA and Samba file servers and there are other and better file servers available on the OpenWRT sites that are all FREE TO USE and download Its based on a Linux Operating System There are even PBX phone packages for OpenWRT If you dont know how to do it or you dont understand what Im talking about get a friend whos into this stuff to help you Everyone knows a computer geek who can help them Buy them a Nano TM02 for helping you and watch them go crazy loving OpenWRT on it and then youll benefit too from it by them installing OpenWRT for you too The HooToo TM02 and TM04 are nice portable routers but this company doesnt know how to program this App nor are they allowing all the functions to be available in the firmware that comes installed on it OpenWRT will set you free     Nice routers but lousy App put OpenWRT on it people

As a reformed Windows user turned Mac user I expected too much by hoping for a simply plugnplay device If I want to hack my way into video Ill start using Plex Too complicated for a consumer grade device in this era 1 Does not recognize a drive formatted for Mac use 2 Does not support iTunes native video format you cant just add your iTune video library 3 Requires reading too much support documentation to get started 4 Requires too much understanding of wireless networks for consumer use 5 Documentation is not written for technology community not the average consumer     Not PlugNPlay Doesnt like Mac drives

Great app needs some improvements and fix a few glitches For one it needs to be updated for the iPhone 66plus Way behind developers the phones have been out for months now The few glitches Ive found are when using the app on my iPhone 6 plus when I turn the screen to landscape mode while playing a movie the app quits The other glitch Ive found is the app creates folders on my External HD it creates a public folder and a few glitch folders including a recycle bin one Please fix this The app does not need to create folders that I dont create myself Thanks           Great app few glitches

Most of the criticisms of this app are off base First the device is NOT a computer Thus any video that this is going to play needs to be something that iOS can already play The device is not going to transcode on the fly that is for a fairly powerful computer to do so use Plex server on a computer Rather this is a bit like a standard media NAS The view is generally a web based view using standard NAS web view Thus it is very lightweight and wont chew up spaceprocessing power on your iPadiOS Over all this was a nice little bonus for the HooToo trip mate which is a cool little swiss army knife Like a swiss army knife you really dont expect to be sawing down trees with the minisaw                 Nice little access app for the device

One of two HooToo apps for the device this one is not as polished but has more functionality if you can figure out the menus The Plus app is nicer and can more easily change system settings but this one allows for fe transfers to and from device Needs to be updated to iOS 78 look and feel           Cumbersome User Interface

Works great with the server Hook up was simple and I was playing music within 3 minutes of opening the box I had downloaded the app in anticipation of receiving my TripMate For next update Would love to be able to shuffle music within a folder would make the experience even more enjoyable Thanks                 Excellent
