iCharcoal is a VERY good app for simulating charcoal drawing It loses one star for not having a zoom feature however if youre looking for a casual sketch app dont let this one failing prevent you from purchasing this app Developers iCharcoal desperately needs a zoom feature Currently theres no way to achieve the precision necessary to create a fullbody portrait or an intricate landscape A zoom feature would allow for a much higher degree of complexity in the sketches Please add this muchneeded feature and thank you for a great app Needs 1 Feature to Hit 5 Stars
The lines are dotty not smooth There is no zoom Possibly not upgraded for retina Basically sorry I bought it The charcoal tools in Procreate are far superior Might be a fun doodle app but if youre a real artist you can do better Procreate or ArtRage Not that great
I was so excited when I read about this app I downloaded it for both my iPhone and iPad without trying it out on one device first Well Im out some bucks Im sorry to say this app is a huge disappointment Why have a charcoal drawing app where all the strokes look like pixelated paint marks Pixelation in a drawing app drives me nuts Its 2011 Drawing with this app does not feel like working with charcoal at all and Ive worked with charcoal in art school This dev needed to take a look at the app ASKetch for what realistic sensitive sketching looks like Another thing that would help this app once it starts looking like real charcoal is to incorporate sound Theres nothing like the sound of charcoal on paper and it wouldve enhanced the experience here The app Inkiness has sound and it adds something Hopefully this app will improve but its not off to a good start Not recommended Awful

This got a rave review on Huff Post so I bought it Definitely just for kids not for the serious artist You dont even have the option to put your drawing in your Camera Roll I was very disappointed in the quality of the app Very clumsy to use For kids not artists
