Icon Slate is super easy to use and it worked perfectly for me I needed to create some Windows icons which are basically packages of bitmaps png in my case with the file extension ico The ico file holds all the different sizes of your icon and Windows picks the one to use based on context That might be an oversimplification but for my job that s all I needed to understand You could get a Photoshop plugin to complie the ico file but Icon Slate which is a stand alone app seemed easier and it did the job of compiling the ico package very quickly and intuitively I should mention that I tried the free Sketch plugin of the same name but I couldn t get it to work So I paid the five bucks for the stand alone app and I m good to go I should mention that Icon Slate does a lot more than what I used it for                     Does what it says it does JohnnyJ614

I love this app because I can customize a project to produce specific sizes of icons that I may need for iOS development It s not just limited to a predefined set of sizes I can also import lots of images at once into the project and build all the icons at once It has really saved me a lot of time                     Saves me lots of time brisesm

I wonder how all these people figured out how this app works as there is no built in help file or any informaiton on the deveoper s website aobut how to actually use this app I cannot figure it out There seems to be no way to have a different image for each of the different sizes it basically take the largest image and resizes it to the tiniest which means you end up with blurry favicons It also doesn t remember the last folder you opened when importing files so you have to keep hunting to find the folder every single time Not recommended     No Help or Instructions Donnie Summers

I have numerous image manipulation SW installed Sometime after I installed Icon Slate I noticed it appear in the properties menu on an image I needed resizing for a GUI I chose it and voila instantly gave me the exact 16x16 PNG I wanted Very helpful worth the                     A real developer created this Very useful Idenity Infinity

This application does NOT allow editing your icons It only allows you to place graphics and generate icons of the appropriate sizes         Does NOT Edit floridaStyles

This App is fantastic at putting together icons at different sizes but it doesn t include any kind of editing tools It automatically scales icons but if you re assembling favicons that are very specific DON T USE THE AUTO SCALED VERSIONS This App has some odd resizing algorithm in it that introduces artifacts into flat colors Fortunately you can manually size your images in an image editing tool like Photoshop and then use Icon Slate to assemble the individual sizes For favicon ico files like I m using it for it doesn t compress colors in the ico files so be sure to compress the image after you ve saved it using a tool like ImageMagick                 Assembles Icons But Needs Hand Holding quicksketch

I just updated my Icon Slate app to version 4 0 via the Mac App Store and now I can no longer use the app I m running Mac OS X 10 8 5 on a MacBook Pro and when the app starts up it immediately crashes every single time when I try to either create a new project or open an existing one     Update breaks the app mattiscious

While this is my go to app for generating icons there is a missing feature that keeps me coming back to other image editors It needs customized png icon sizing When designing for the Web not all icons fit in the same molds so it would be nice to have the option to make your own                 Almost the ideal app for generating icons harrymfa

I don t explicitly need icons for the project I ve created them for but they make life easier Icon Slate s management and workflow has made quick work of what was previously a nightmare I avoided for years The developer was incredibly friendly very responsive and knowledgeable when I recently contacted him with an issue With the exception of Icon Slate not supporting an older icns file format and it s a pretty niche thing I have zero complaints about the program and have no reservations about suggesting it to friends and colleagues As for icon sizes that aren t currently supported by the application I would suggest the user who posted the older review contact the developer directly I can t guarantee an outcome but he seems to take great pride is his work and I have no doubt he would like to see any and all constructive feedback directly                     An incredible tool at 30 a steal at 5 thenullmaster

The app is great but without some explanation from blogs namely Daring Fireball it wouldn t be obvious how to use it There isn t an import feature and it s not clear that you are supposed to drag separate images into each square in the UI It s also not clear that having 2 icon sizes should result in a single file upon build ing until I did some Googling to learn that the icns format supports multiple sources aside from these minor usability issues teriffic app                 Pretty awesome wowsersman
