Not something I need every day but works flawlessly in my tests so far even with large ish GIF animations The fact that as with some other web dev apps by the same author it generates copy pasteable CSS and HTML code for you and even has an embedded browser preview is spot on useful Why would you want this You can EMBED pictures in a text Web page with an embedded stylesheet that includes all the CSS and encoded images I e you can distribute HTML documentation or whatever in a SINGLE file not a directory full of files Useful functionality of CSS that hardly anyone touches because without an app like this it s a pain in the butt ImageToBase64 saves between sessions for later re use and regenerates the base64 code on the fly from them I m not sure where they are stored but they survive moving or deletion of the image file from its original location The app produces correct Base64 encodings I tested them and they re identical to those of the commandline tools base64 included in OS X and the more versatile mmencode mimencode which can be installed with MacPorts Neither of those will do the CSS and HTML work done by ImageToBase64 Simple and effective SMcCandlish
