Dear developers have you ever checked your dictionaries Russian language support is very poor many words are being translated incorrectly For example french word travailler doesn t mean work as a noun it s a verb dire doesn t mean they say in Russian it s just to say English word work can be noun and verb as the context may require but it s impossible to choose a certain word class to get a translation of interest in Russian work noun and work verb are different words And so on and so on Good idea bad implementation Even for a free app Trashed     Awful dictionary perhaps only for Russian Athirn

From what I have got out of this app its a good free translator I didnt expect anything really spectacular given the fact that this app is literally just there to translate your sentances or words you insert into the application Don t expect anything that you would get out of a similar product that you have to pay for this is a free app and since of the fact its free my standards arent that high when it comes to free apps and especially ones that only serve one function In this case its so you can translate How ever I do find it annoying how its still at the top of the menu bar I think it should be at the bottom of the menu bar it I would also like to simply be able to move the interface of the application to different areas of my desktop Instead all it has is this option to keep it stuck in this one specific location whitch makes no sense to me but once I do find a better translater that is not expensive I do plan on ditching this one because like others have said the developers have had much time to improve apon this application So at the end of the day all that if you dont care that the application can not be moved around and will be stuck on the top of your screen then get it and it should work perfectly fine for you             does what its made for forzaferrari7154

Yet another update and this app is STILL stuck in the menubar As per my original review see below this has been a problem for more than two years and the developers clearly aren t listening don t care This app needs to leave the menubar and become a normal app with a normal window in order to be actually functional Honestly I ve waited long enough I m gong to just find an alternative translator So I first reviewed this app about two years ago when it came out and I can t believe I m still writing about the same glaring issue it only lives in the menubar This is a big issue for those of us with small screened Macs as our menubars can get way too crowded However it also means that you can only paste so much text in its tiny pop down window making it a problem for power users who need to paste a lot of text Even their iPad app lets you paste more text than this one Plus having it not in the dock is less convenient when switching between open windows if using say Mission Control and clearly confuses some users when they click the iTranslate app icon in Launchpad and seemingly nothing happens when they don t notice a new icon being added to their menubar This was my own classmate s issue when she told me her translate app wasn t working she clicked on the icon in the Launchpad and seemingly nothing happened She had no idea that another tiny icon was added to the many occupying the menubar Having it run as a mini Menubar app should be an option but definitely not the default to avoid this type of obvious confusion and the other issues outlined above So yeah this app absolutely needs to leave the Menubar for a number of reasons I ve written and tweeted to the developers several times these past two years and have gotten nothing in the way of a response which is a shame becaue their iOS apps translate very well In fact this app does translate well for the languages I use it for Spanish French and Irish but the awful usability problems outlined above take away so much from its overall utility So suffice to say I m pretty disappointed that after two years of waiting for this basic improvement all we got was a generic bug fixes update with no acknowledgment of this issue I really hope these devs are listening but I don t have a lot of faith they are     I ve just about given up with this app kittycat262728

I write historical fiction and use iTranslate to create dialogue for supporting characters It is easy to use and provides a range of word choices based on context very important when doing dialogue Having the icon in the menu bar makes accessing it very convenient                     Works for an author LW Hewitt

My use is not sufficticated If I were in business this is not the product that I would be seeking I am retired with friends across the globe I find this tool very helpful for reading writing and copy paste of brief correspondence My friends are grateful             Keep it Simple lightscriptor

Total let down On iOS it works as you would believe it should and while not prefect it is very good You can cut and paste text in the target language and listen to it to get a proper way to say it On the desk top you pay 9 99 and you have a little drop down tab and can not listen to the imported text you want the learn to say only the translation Larger screen more powerful computer less features more money bad investment So it is a nice idea but when you do not like it your stuck with the payment and product of little value Plus it is continues to charge you over and over again wrong I want a refund     bad investment jmcm19530

In December 2015 I paid 9 99 for this app which is rather pricey for a translation app considering Google Translate is free and so is Microsoft translate As soon as I opened this app I immediately noticed it still contained ads after paying the first 10 Next when I tried to use the microphone feature a box pops up it requires the user to pay 6 99 MORE to use the voice feature and to get rid of the ads This app is a web link that requires internet access not software that stands alone That is greed gone to seed What is this developer thinking         You Pay then Pay again Unchecked Greed DoveNotes

I had tried several of the other free or cheap translate apps and found numerous errors on some basic words I like having this app in the menu bar typically just pop it open when I am doing rosetta stone lessons I haven t run across any mistranslations yet and it seems to find the word even if I don t know the proper stem                     Accurate Mac and PC

A while back I wrote a positive review of this app but now after using it for several weeks I found that Google Translate often provides me with better translations between English and German iTranslate is convienient for quickly looking up a word and finding its gender but I can t use if for translating sentences Note that this app only works with an internet connection             Google Translate is better at least for German mikebenda

Pretty disappointing I remember translation software 25 years ago and this is no improvement For some it might work It is better than nothing for people who know absolutely nothing about the target language For me I put in for an English translation of a sentence into Spanish This software translated a 3rd person plural into 2nd person polite or 3rd person singular But it s like for 5 what do you expect On detection a skill that you would think is fairly simple on two different attempts of 3 words statements not idioms but logically written short phrases I got server error So that pretty much eliminates that potential plus for me The verbal help the software gives I thought was decent especially with a speed control setting and without a robotic voice However I could not cut and paste longer samples which I would think a translation software would have With the image that Apple is trying to cultivate putting an i in front of this name I don t think helps any When I pay 2 to 3 times as much for a computer I expect most everything to work noticably better to be designed more thoughtfully with more expertise This software was not I know that language is extremely complicated as I teach it but you would think the best computer in the world could produce a little more progress over attempts of this type that the industry made 25 years ago         It s a machine nmccdc

iTranslate requires an Internet connection so the only advantage over Google Translate is being able to quickly access it from the menu bar That s about the only positive thing I can say in support of iTranslate It s cheap at 4 99 but still about 4 more than it should cost for what it does The biggest drawback is that you can t select from various definitions of words Enter washer in English and in French it spits back machine laver Did you mean washer like the hardware part and not a washing machine Sorry iTranslate doesn t care Google Translate correctly offers both rondelle and machine laver as translations Many of the multi word definitions are similarly really poor transliterations If you used them in any kind of communication formal or informal you ll at best get weird looks and at worst be completely misunderstood         Marginal mediocre Misha S

Seems to translate well but it is a hassle to use because you have to copy and paste the text to be translate into a menu window I could live with that if it was not such a small buffer To read an email I have to cut and paste over and over So each paragraph has to be done separately This makes for slow going What I wish it would do is allow me to select a sentence or paragraph and translate it then provide a button to press that would get the next sentence and translate it This post is a bit over 640 characters so I wuold have to translate it in 2 parts and I would have to guess where the 500 character point is located             500 Character Limit WildRice

I have the iOS version and it includes speech recognition and it is excellent I assumed this app would do the same however it doesn t So just be alert that it only translates what you type or paste into the comment box It will speak it to you if you click the triangle for many languages             Does not have speach recognition 8aint enuf

This has proven to be very handy for me while learning french and german One of my favorite things to do is to read articles and books in which ever language I m practicing at the time I use this app to help me understand not just translate the meaning of new words or strange sounding phrases As far as translation services go this one is by far one of the best I dare say I prefer this to google s translate page It is convenient very easy to use and the most accurate one I ve used thus far                     Convenient easy and very accurate solosuite

Beautiful app Just what I ve been waiting for in a translator on OS X No longer do I need to keep that Google Translate tab open Though one note to the developers the language lists have Chinese Mandarin with a PRC flag and Chinese Taiwan with an ROC flag Both Taiwan and Mainland China speak Mandarin so it would be better to list both as Mandarin with the distinction being Simplified and Traditional respectively Great work                     Fantastic jaykruer

I am a doctor and don t have many opportunities to use the German I learned in high school I used this app today to help me explain to a Spanish speaking patient to ask him questions and to give him instructions after the visit It worked perfectly It handled the medical terminology and medication names without any diffculty My patient was very impressed and happy with what I did for him and with the translation It made things much much better                     Worked perfectly Doctor_Rob
