I have a Jenn Air Microwave Wall oven with Culinary Center which I have used for over a year Unfortunately the app designers have missed several important factors have left many bugs in the app and have missed many lost opportunities 1 Practicality The apps refusal to remember a username and password even when Remember Me is checked limits it being practical to use For example when sitting on your sofa if you were able to check on the progress of something in the oven by opening the app or even looking at an app screen that you left open that would be practical However having to enter a user name and password and deal with error messages when you entered it incorrectly makes it easier to get up and look at the oven screen 2 Lost Opportunity It s easy to forget this oven on You would think that if it were left on for a long time the app would send you a message For example it could message you that your oven has been on for two weeks and ask if you want it turned off or two days or 24 hours or better yet 12 hours 3 Lost Opportunity A big shortcomings of the software is inability to approximate cook time You can program it to cook your turkey however you will not know whether it will be done at noon or at 10pm It would be possible for the oven to make an initial guestimate and then update this time throughout the process We all want to know when dinner is going to be finished We expect a Smart Oven to be able to tell us 4 Lost Opportunity As part of the oven setup using culinary center ask what time the food should be ready and then use auto start to begin the process at the right time For example let me insert the chicken and probe in the chicken now but delay starting for 30 minutes so that it finishes on time 5 Send Text messages The oven should send text messages not just notifications I ve been in the house waiting for a notification many times when I ve heard the oven itself sound an alert not sure if the notifications aren t all sent or if I missed on but I would not miss a text 6 Opportunity for improvement The graphic display of the oven is very nice Why not automatically change this display based upon the season and holiday theme Users can be given the option to select the winter summer fall and spring scene and decide whether this scene should be changed during holidays The pumpkin scene is great really adds an upscale image to the oven but users like me are not going to think oh Halloween is coming let me log onto that annoying oven app that doesn t even remember my user name or password and select a new scene for my oven ridiculous please change the graphic automatically Now thats what we expect of a smart oven In fact you can even use info provided by a weather service to change the scene based on the weather now that s smart my oven is showing me snow is coming You could easily give me a list of holidays and allow me to decide which to enable and which scene to display     Poor implementation of a great concept FlymanNJ

The app is useful for preheat notifications and that s about it The timer doesn t work and I can t control the microwave at the top I see the developer does respond that they are working on the bugs but those responses were over a year ago wish they would actually follow through         Timer doesn t work Nopeere

Specifically related to Amazon Alexa remote start has to be enabled on the touchpad every single time after the doors opened it when doing the remote features useless Presentable when you re driving back to the house you want to preheat the oven they won t work and less you had been able to remote start each and every time you use the oven What good is the Wi Fi other than keeping the time and recipe updates which go unused     Sad how useless the connected feature is tbarn

The app generally works as intended but very slow For example tapping turn on oven light in the app would cause it to freeze for 3 5 seconds One confusing bug that I found the timer in the app doesn t work If I set the timer to be 2 hours on the oven the app shows me 9 hours on the timer My time zone is set to PST 7 I m not sure if that s the source of the problem     Needs lots of work JennAir Oven User

First the latest release removed features In particular the Tools menu and this is pretty much the only feature we used With that said it would be wonderful if Remote Start didn t turn off every time you opened the oven or microwave door If you place something in the oven and someone opens a door you won t be able to remote start the oven They need to give the user the option to disable this feature If they fix this the app will be useful for something other than changing screen savers I hope they fix this in a future firmware update because it looks like I m not the only one who feels this way Update Aug 18 2017 Based on the developer s reply the remote start feature will continue to be a disappointment which goes hand in hand with Jenn air appliances and customer service a trifecta Jenn Air is simply Whirlpool with a much higher price tag When I replace these units it will definitely be with a brand the specializes in high end appliances     Remote Start Needs to be Redesigned James at 16

With the latest version of the app it always thinks the microwave is running and there is no way to send setting to it Also The tools section was removed from the app so it is no longer possible to change the image or other general settings with the app All versions have had an annoyance with the remote start feature In order to use it you have to put the oven in remote start mode first Remote start automatically turns off when the oven door is opened This means that you have to know ahead of time that remote start will be needed and set it at the oven first     Bugs introduced and features removed Paul41
