Kaplan Architecture Registration Exam (ARE) 4.0 Flashcards and Reference

Kaplan provides a good flash card review program for the iphone Great for reviewing their material when youre away from home This app is only useful if you have their printed material The app quizzes you on a whole exams it is impossible to break the cards down into smaller manageable sets For example you cannot study HVAC flash cards in the building systems exam You are forced to review all flash cards for that specific exam The multiple choice flash card section is a great concept but executed VERY POORLY For example a term such as downspout will show up The multiple choice answers consist of a definition of a downspout electricity current means of egress width and friction loss calculations Only one answer makes sense This happens for ALL multiple choice questions making the multiple choice extremely easy There is no challenge Kaplan should look at their printed material and make the multiple choice questions more difficult Maybe group similar conceptsdefinitions to test the user 3 stars for the following somewhat expensive price extremely poor multiple choice execution randomly doesnt save quizzes doesnt save quiz history track progress only 1 length of quiz sometimes you dont want to do 160 questions at one time you should be able to select subtopic within a section for example HVAC or electricity within building systems most people cant memorize 160 cards at one time no smart flashcards show me the cards that I missed more than 5 times to focus on where you struggle           good app for review what you already know not for learning the material for the first time

There are basics in the programming of the software that are missing On the multiple choice the answer options are so different that makes the exam extremely easy and we all know that in the real exams the answer options are often very close to each other Once u click on an answer it blinks the correct answer for a minute but immediately moves on to the nxt question It doesnt give u an option to go back read the previous qa There is no option to change the txt why do u have to touch right on the answers to scroll up down U cant even see what u r reading Overall great idea but needs improvement but I havent seen an update since I purchased the program last month The content needs to get more thorough Explanations are extremely short to the point they dont stay in memory and exams are too easy        Expensive for the basic programming

The information is up to date I like most of the features except the program does not save your progress You have to start over if you leave it for more than an hour Its needs a revision           Getting there

As a pure flashcard review program this exceeds the mark The software itself is much better than ones provided by other ARE exam prep companies It is very easy to use but still powerful                 Well done

The multiple choice questions are a joke What a waste of precious study time and funds that otherwise would have been directed to more relevant study material     Dont waste your money

SAVE YOUR 50 These flashcards and questions are way toooooo easy Not worth the 50 Seriously extremely simple Not worth it All the choices of answers on the multiple choice questions are incredibly easy and obviously not even close resemblance of the actual exams Just stick with the ARE or Kaplan study guides and skip this app     Too simple

While the previous version was able to record which cards you knew and which you marked as unknown this app no longer saves your progress So when you spend an hour going through 100 flash cards put it down for the night and then go pickup where you left off the day before the app erases all of your progress and doesnt remember which cards you knew and which ones you didnt This totally negates its ability to help you see which areas you need to focus on totally worthless to me because of this problem     erases your progress worthless

I agree with some of the other reviews about the app having the possibility of being better This is of course true of every app in my opinion The program has the ability to operate in multiple choice mode or flash card mode both with definition first or term first I have used this app for the past my past three tests and passed them all I passed one without it and failed another without it As you can see I have far better chances of passing when I do use it For 50 it is a great addition to your arsenal of study aids and a far better value that the Archiflash app at three times the price              Yes it could be better but a good study aid

Complete waste of money app It is good for general vocabulary refresher but the terms included in the flash cards never helped me pass a single test The design and function the of app is terrible The quiz mode button is in the worse possible place If you are 85 through the cards in study mode and you accidentally tap the quiz mode button very easy to do on a subway there goes all your time you spent going thing 200 vocab terms This app really made me want to build my own so it would be done right     Worthless

This used to be a 3 or 4 star app when it had a multiple choice study option But without it is just a fancy flashcard so I give it a 2        Lost multiple choice option

Ive taken 5 tests so far and found this app to be useless Buy the ballast flashcard app and save your money     Boooo

I would rather put my money towards physical flash cards that cover more material than vocabulary This app is extremely limited and short sided     Not Adequate

Its not a great learning tool Okay if you are totally new to the industry you might learn something Aside from functionality issues mentioned by the others here these card sets only explain terms like a dictionary and sometimes not wel eitherl So dont expect exam type questions The multiple choice portions are really lame It gives you four possible answers to a term eg Whats a base bid The three wrong answers are not even trying to confuse you like the real test would Eg One of the wrong answers says Its an abbreviation for Not In Contract Duh It goes like that for the entire deck For what it is 50 is way too much Just bought the ppi version which is much better It tests concepts not just words See my review under their app Save your money trust me Also no updates to this app in a very long time despite all the negative feedback Come on kaplan you can do better     Could be a lot better

This is the entire Kaplan flash card set that you get when you buy the hard copy study guide series Very good interface and although it is pricey the convenience of having all your flashcards with you for quick studying is great The dictionary feature is very handy also              Worth it

Its a basic database with few added features The quizzes are laughably simple Kaplan should be ashamed of putting out this product     Poor programming

The flash cards five half the screen real estate to the word other half to multiple choice selections resulting in the need to scroll in order to see all the answers which in turn results in accidentally selecting the wrong answer And thats the long story of my frustration with this app poor layout the word being defined doesnt need that much space and it is way too easy to tap the wrong answer Aside from that its a pretty good app to constantly refresh terms and definitions which is really the whole point           Poor layout app design

For sitting around on the back porch or during other downtimes having this resource on the iPhone is a great way to get in some quick and light studying This program is good if being used as a second or third study source If you are looking for a comprehensive study guide this is not it The answersdefinitions do not have the specifics or depth of information contained in the other ARE flashcard series but they are good for building a general knowledge of terms I find that I use the multiple choice function the most but the choices could be more challenging I also like being able to scroll thru an index of terms trying to identify the words as they scroll by also serves as a study guide Had the definitions included more detailed information and some illustrations then this could have served as a reference I could use throughout my career I feel that the value I will get from this product is worth the price but I would have been willing to pay more for a product that I could use as a reference source after I have become registered           Good for quick light studying
