Linguan greatly simplifies localizing your Mac and iOS apps. It gives you an intelligent editor for all strings files contained in your Xcode project. Open, edit and save XLIFF files directly (useful now that Xcode can ...
Eventhough this app had not been updated for a while you have nothing to worry about It does what it s suppose to do and we have no complains Easy and simple way to deal with localizations if you are doing it on your own                     All good for years iPad Guru
I just started the process of localizing an iOS app with support for 11 languages I have no idea what I would have done without that app it makes it so much easier Just open your Xcode project from within Linguan and you are presented with all of the languages and strings that you need translated One minor complaint I m not sure if it s just me and my project or if it s an improvement that could be made I would prefer if I can always see the English strings or probably whatever the user s native language is so that I have a clear context of what translated string to pop in for the language column I m working on                     Massive Time Saver smoothEll
Being an App Developer iPhemeris on both Mac and iOS I wanted to take the time and express my appreciation for this App It s great I just started using Linguan and really like it It is saving me A LOT of time It found missing and duplicated localization strings and really helped me get the mess I had no idea even existed sorted out Prior to this I was editing and trying to organize all the localizations in the individual localization files in the various versions of my Apps It was just getting to be way too much given that I ve localized into about 10 languages This thing saved my life I edit the strings right in Linguan and don t ever want to look at localization files anymore Thanks guys very much for this cool tool                     Great Tool for App Developers Cliff Ribaudo
We have an iOS app with multiple targets main application today extensions etc It would be nice if Linguan could generate individual strings files for each target             Could use support for multiple targets Relium
This is a great app It is great for managing localizations we hav 12 languages in our app and we can update strings with ease Definitely work the purchase One small issue I cant seem to remove strings from the files As in I can t remove one individual tag and all of the localizations en masse The app seems to do show the removal in the Linguan UI But the files are not modified on disk even after saving Hope you can fix this I will still continue to use this app It s great even with the small bug                 Great app Greatly simplifies localization one small bug d.dogg
Really want to like this app It used to work great but now seems to just hang whenever I open my project No log output no crash spinner just sits there     Hangs alx512
Our app is localized for 21 languages and this app is a big help is validating checking and fixing stuff It s very well done                     works fine even with 21 languages Garino619
This is a really handy app No more genstrings no more window switches in Xcode I d like to see an ignore list and show me where the string in code features Nice work Cocoanetics                     Great nonamelive
I manually localized an app for the company I work for and it was a giant pain figuring out out what new strings I needed to translate as I was iterating I used Linguan for another one of my personal apps and it was unbelievably easy to use I will definitely be recommending that my company use Linguan going forward as we start doing more localizations                     Fantastic igm_compared2u
I ve recently begun using Linguan for my current project and couldn t be happier This is my first app localization and upon researching the topic it seemed a bit daunting given the scope of the task before me I d followed Cocoanetics for some time and knew about this tool from there so I figured that at the current price it was a no brainer The user interface is very straight forward the functionality works great and the price is perfect a little low in my opinion given the developer hours it can save I have to say I quite like the icon too Even at twice the price Linguan would be a great product for its intended purpose I would recommend it to any iOS or Mac software developer                     Great for iOS project localization Jeff A. C.
Extremely intuitive very easy to use and fast A tremendous time saver and dramatically increased functionality as compared to what ships with Xcode frankly this is what Xcode should ship with A must have for any developer                     Huge time saver bazineta
This will be a great product but in its current incarnation it s somewhat lacking 1 Any app that is purports to make localization for iOS Mac apps easier absolutely has to be able to deal with strings in XIBs The current version completely ignores them What s worse even if you extract the strings yourself you still can t easily work with them in Linguan because the extracted strings will not be a part of the project and shouldn t be so the app will not pick them up This is currently the biggest friction point for developers who are internationalizing their app Working with new projects you can mostly get away from this by assigning all localized strings in XIBs via code However for legacy apps you often don t have the luxury of refactoring the XIBs to work this way and are stuck using ibtool for extracting and re merging strings Not fun prone to error and missed change cascades 2 When saving changes back to strings files the app will reformat them to be double spaced and all extra carriage returns removed DO NOT DO THIS Our strings files are formatted to be grouped in a logical manner strings from the same view or that deal with similar context will be grouped together and seperated from other strings by extra carriage returns before and after Keep them that way We aren t always viewing the files via Linguan so formatting does matter At the very least an option to preserve formatting would be appropriate             Good but needs more time to bake SmokyBlue
Seriously I can t begin to describe what a pain and mess our translation management was before using this app Totally recommended even if all you do is want to browse the translations and check for missing ones Really surpised how nicely this works and I totally paid too little for it                     You guys are the best Dognose
Have been looking for an app to help in managing my localizations for my iOS apps This is just great Much simpler than the other solutions I have found                     Wonderul NateDavis_Work
Just what I was looking for a single place to see all my localization info My only wish is that it could also drill down into the settings bundle to get the string file there it either doesn t handle it or I am dense and cannot figure it out Hopefully that will make it into a future release This is well worth the money just for how it manages the localization files                     Incredible timesaver rworne
I ve always been tired of the way we have to translate our apps it always felt clunky and unfinished This makes it feel professional and I no longer have to worry about little details such as forgetting a or adding an extra space before the But by FAR the best feature is the ability to export strings files with ONLY the tokens you need to be translated Saves me hours of work right there Definitely recommend                     Just what I needed iSkythe
Easy to use and the author is very helpful Highly recommended                     Great Steve's iPhone Studio
Thanks for this incredibly useful app As the developers seem hard at work with bug fixes and new features this app might become the standard tool for working with localizations                     Just what I needed momonsterBass
Talk about a tool that should be in Xcode watch out Linguan developers as Apple will see this and it will be in Xcode at some point I am working hard on the next release of JetSet Expenses and working on localization The first time I fired up Linguan and saw that I had missing strings I was thrilled with my purchase The tool is fantastic It is going to make my life so much better that is for sure How you use it is simple You open your Xcode project and it immediately does a scan of your string resources and figures out what langagues in your project you have and show a list of warnings related to strings that are in the base langauge that are not in translation Not only that you can edit the strings within the UI placing comments in and that also works A great product There may be a better method than what I do but today I put placeholder strings within UILabel and UITextField controls in interface builder where I visually scan to insure that they do not show up when I run the product These visual tags help me insure that I catch hard coded strings What I would love would be a tool that would scan the XIB files in my project looking for those tags so I could find where I have missed a hardcoded string in the UI Anyway it is a great tool If you are a developer who wants to do localization buy this                     Thank God Clalron
