Very little content in the app beyond saying hello Everything else costs Also there is more than one Chinese out there I was looking for Cantonese This app does not specify which language it is for No content
Love it Great learning tool Can now understand some of what my boyfriend is saying when speaking with his friends Awesome App
I highly recommend it Love it
Pretty comprehensive Solid
This is the best designed most polished Chinese language study app Ive used Also no issues with sound on IOS 5 Best Chinese learning app
This worked great until the latest update Now the sound doesnt work Need to fix this ASAP or this AP is a waste of money What happened
It seems to be a well designed effort I read about this in NYT but there is no audio You cannot learn a foreign language without audio Do not download or recommend to others unless the audio problem is fixed No audio on new iPad
Fix it please Crashing
I bought the Living Language books before I came to China and I bought the iPad app after I came and I can say both purchases have been completely worth it I love the approach toward grammar and I have found the many customization modifications within the app useful for practicing and quizzing myself An excellent program for not that much money Worth It
I like the layout and the sequencing badges are a nice feature But I cant access settings for some reason so I cant tell if I can switch between traditional and simplified characters If I cant thats a negative and updates seem to be few and far between Generally good but quirky
Updated to the latest version with inapp purchase bug fix now I cant open my Chinese fully enabled app The fully enabled Japanese app is also crashing when I try to open it Update is crashing
Thank you for the update App is working great Cant wait to buy the full version and go through everything on this app Thank you Working great now
The app started crashing recently Does not initiate when opening the app instead opening screen flashes for a second and closes Need to be fixed immediately Does not open
If you are looking for an app that crashes as soon as it opens then this is for you If you are looking to learn a language forget it Look for an alternative WASTE OF MONEY
The full 999 package covers only the basics Even the Advanced level is elementary Furthermore there is very little content Also right answers are often rejected There are better Free apps for learning mandarin Not worth it
Agree with the review before The audio does not work on the latest iPad with the latest iOS Please fix I bought the whole package Audio not working
Seems to be a Rosetta stoneesque language learning app The first free lesson is very helpful I found myself learning things as I was simply going through the lesson If you are going to china and want to simply learn how to say hello thank you goodbye and other phrases then this is a no brainier its also worth downloading to see if you like the style in which it teaches and then buy the rest of the lessons for 20 As for the sound issue the sound works fine on my iPad 2 with the must current version of iOS 5 If its not working I would suggest trying headphones vs speakers to see if that fixes the problem Cool app
This is a great supplemental tool for mandarin study Good buy
Good sound for pronunciation teaches characters as well as pinyin Really easy and fun to use Easy to use
There is no sound in this iPad app Sound works on iTouch just not iPad No sound
I am really enjoying using this app to learn Chinese I have yet to figure out how to get the badges but besides that I really like it Good app
I tried it with my kids and they loved it Kids love it
The use of flash cards plus micro lessons on grammar and usage and exercises to test my progress all makes it fun and easy for me Works for Me
I would highly recommend this app Being able to hear the correct pronunciation is so important especially for a tonal language such as Chinese Even my kids love it Chinese app
App will not start during the living language screen app closes the window Fix ASAP I paid extra for this app and tried the reinstall to no avail Im running iPhone 5 32 gig version 704 I hope this is fixed before the Chinese New Year App wont initiate just crash
Just purchased the entire package for 1999 and am very sad that the audio is not working I have the LL Spanish and the LL French and there are no problems with the audio I am upset that in August 2012 the audio problem mentioned in 2011 has yet to be resolved I should have read the reviews but since the other two were working I never thought I would have a problem Please resolve this SOON Alice No audio
Ive owned the app for a few days now There are quizzes and games to test your knowledge Wish there were exercises in drawing characters since were tested in character recognition but its hard to recognize characters without actually trying to draw them Pretty good app
I am currently learning Chinese through this app and I think it is totally worth it In addition to having Pleco the Chinese dictionary This app has become an electronic learning course almost like a textbook The visualstyle learning is what makes this the best Im a very visual learner so it fits me well Games are also included 我觉得好 我可以联系很多 Handy App
I have been using this app in conjunction with another computer language program and a private tutor once a week as well as TrainChinese and Chinesepod Living Chinese has been great as a tool to both learn at a beginners level and as I have progressed into an intermediate level I love the games which make it more fun to learn and I especially like being able to study on the go You may want to learn the tones or pinyin before you begin to make sure you practice pronouncing the words correctly I am able to practice reading characters listening comprehension writing pinyin and reading it It is a great supplement to any study plan Love it Excellent
Just downloaded last night and have been playing around with the app The lessons and content are great but the audio portion doesnt work and for trying to learn a tonal language like Mandarin its essential It states that ios must be 43 and I have ios 50 so I dont know whats wrong Unfortunately I cant evaluate if the app is worth buying or not without it Great lessons but no audio
