Purchased the app installed it opened it and it changes my desktop to a spiraling galaxy That is all it did at first There is no interface to make any changes There are no menus There is nothing but a new desktop which changes back to the static picture I had set before installation upon restarting Had to go to their website to find this No icon appears in the Dock for Mach Desktop Instead of that a desktop icon shows up in the Status Bar near the top right of the screen Click on this to bring up a menu in which you can start stop the desktop animation customize preferences and quit Mach Desktop All is well Useful customizations Provided Desktops are not color balanced very well some are washed out or flat and lifeless but worth the price at 2 99             No interface 19Lee63

At first the App did render the video to a small square on the desktop instead of fullscreen Then I had to ask the developer via facebook page how to solve the issue and restarted the app as suggested Then it worked However this should be present on the Apps documentation website and a restart should be made automatically after choosing the quicktime video Anyway it did what I brought it to do Just need some polishments                 Ok Now I get it Lady Jenny Stark

Despite my 2 rating I actually really like this app This is a great way to add a little life to your desktop It gets a low rating though because it has some flaws that need to be addressed in future updates The Good The beach mountain nature wallpapers are absolutely beautiful The widgets are an excellent feature with some basic customization options The Bad I have this app set to start up upon login but it is pretty slow to load and it just about triples my boot time Weather widgets are very slow to accept my location It took over an hour for the weather widget to adjust for my location On my g f s account her location still shows as the default location and it s been 3 days since I installed this app I can adjust the font type but font size is unresponsive 24hr clock works on 1 widget my clock but on another sunrise sunset it will only display a 12hr clock The Ugly Some of these wallpapers are just horrible looking There s an Eiffel Tower wallpaper that would be really nice looking if it weren t for the fact that the top of the tower is cut off Same goes for a couple others Ice Cavern is really cheesey and Windmills is just lol bad Even with it s flaws I do like this app and plan to keep using it If the problems I pointed out are corrected with future updates I would easily add a few more stars to my rating         Good Bad Ugly Brew Swayne

The animated desktops are a nice idea as are the widgets but in practice the most attractive ones included here are the ones featured in the free version and a lot of these are plain ugly I guess I could roll my own using quartz composer or possibly there is a community of people making good ones out there but even the good ones here look pretty cheesy I think if the authors want to save themselves more bad reviews they should post videos on their websites of all of the included desktops so people know what they are getting I erroneously figured the paid version would have even nicer desktops than the free version but only a couple are even on the same level most are noticeably worse Another issue is that the interface is poorly thought out There are entirely separate settings windows for picking the desktop backgrounds and for customizing and placing widgets which makes the app cumbersome to experiment with when dialing in a setup         Just doesn t look that good SupposeNot

The app runs well and you have the ability to customize the wallpaper a lot With that said some of the wallpapers are not good quality at all and as you would expect with using a live wallpaper your battery will run dead much quicker than if you just use a still background I hope to see more wallpaper options soon                 Good Can't find name not taken

Drained 12 of battery and sent fans blazing after 5 minutes Turned it off and brand new macbook retina cooled off and fans quiet again First time I had heard the fans on this unit The wallpaper loops are poor quality and look grainy on a retina display     CPU Intensive poor quality loops Rob.james.arias

This program is very low quality Many of the desktops look like they were put together in photoshop and they are sprinkled with stupid effects that make them look like they are moving Of course the lite version has the best desktops so I had high hopes for the paid version but it was truly a waste of money Also after a few minutes of running the dynamic desktops my laptop s fan kicked in showing that it does use a good amount of processing power Lastly some of the desklet frames stay visible even after I ve quit the desklet editor WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING         Low Quality GET THE LITE VERSION jfurio

I like the idea of the app and I like the stuff that has been working The date and time desklets update perfectly The other ones I ve tried not so much The daily weather sunrise sunset and high low temperature desklets don t update The 5 day weather forecast goes blank after a while Hopefully there will be some updates and improvements in the future Otherwise I just spent 3 dollars on some fancy wallpaper Running OSX Mavericks by the way             Buggy Octopüff

I purchased this app so I could upload my own videos to play as animated wallpaper Once I figured out that MOV files needed to be renamed to mp4 files everything worked perfectly                     Just what I was looking for Merc80s

Loved the initial version Never crashed once The quartz screen savers were great First launch of the updated application it froze when I was going through the new screen savers I figured it was just a start up hiccup I was wrong it froze on every subsequent launch of the app Pros Liked the new screen savers Cons Freezes Spinning colour wheel of death everytime you try to switch screen savers Had to force close or restart It causes the fan on my MacBook Pro to go into overdrive even with the app inactive They did not incorporate all the old quartz screen savers into the new iteration Customer support almost non existent Recommendation If you have the old version DO NOT update         The update ruined it for me LexicaRabbit

I only used it to have a webpage as my desktop background a feature which they removed in 2 0 Basically the app is useless to me now since there is no easy way to downgrade to get the feature back         Version 2 0 made it useless for me MacGenius

I have used Mach Desktop for years This update was a long time in coming Positively it makes selection easier It offers some nice pre made options However it crashes a lot the weather never updates unless the app is closed and re opened and you lose the option of writing or creating any non stock desklets and you can t modify those that are offered Selection of font size does not work at all fonts are automatically re sized to fit the desklet with no regard to how large or small you would like them I have written to the dev but have received no response at all This update is a mixed bag I continue to use the previous version If you update be careful as it will overwrite the old version and put the old version in your Trash             Update has ups and downs tsatryan

On the positive side they increased the efficiency of playback of quicktime content drastically previously it would consume a LOT of CPU On the downside they have killed the ability to have the output of a shell command or contents of a file displayed on your desktop This was a HUGE feature allowing for a LOT of customization eg I had a shell script that would fetch stock prices and then I could dipslay that Plus the existing desklets are split weirdly eg hours minutes are a different desklet from seconds and because there is no desklet customization certain options are where they don t belong eg using 24 hour time or C vs F on temperature are on the desklet selection screen which makes no sense Additionlly although the font dialog has a size option desklets ignore it and will ensure that they print using the maximum size the box will handle so you have to resize your box carefully to get correctly sized fonts This is not a great thing when say you are outputitng the month and it could be May or September so font sizing using box size is not great And text doesn t wrap any more it shrinks All in all the lack of customizability for desklets is a huge step backwards for this app         Not a huge fan of the update CorporateGoth
