Download and subscribe to Macworld Digital Magazine (U.S.) Macworld is the largest Apple-focused publishing brand in the world, and Macworld Magazine (U.S.) is the most popular Apple-focused magazine. This app lets you read Macworld magazine every ...
The content is there It is unfortunate there are no links in the table of contents and you cant bookmark a page It has an option to edit but I cant find anything I can edit or annotate for later           Needs work
Now there are ads that block out the articles with no easy way to remove them If this is what Macworld has come to you might as well follow up on the death of the magazine by killing off the app too     Annoying
I dont know about the intelligence level of some of the other reviewers here but the app doesnt not start automatically charging you and its not the least bit confusing unless you have some kind of brain damage In fact this is one of the best magazine apps out there today it is wellimplemented and an absolute joy to read vs the physical magazine something few publications can say Highly recommended                 The reviews are wrong
I have several digital magazine subscriptions and this is probably the best and most enjoyable to use making great use of the digital medium The onestar reviews are misguided and even silly Yes there is no landscape mode but who needs it Furthermore this is a true digital layout not reproduction of the actual page layouts where you may want to see a doublepage spread And as for the complaint that there is no zoom again who needs it This is probably the most comfortable read I know You dont need any zoom option Try it and youll see I never bought the print version so I came to this digital version without any hangups or preconceptions This is an outstanding digital magazine and the subscription price is amazing Some of these onestar reviews make you stop and wonder about the people writing them Really                 Superb Digital Magazine
I have subscribed to Macworld for years and the new digital version has worked for me since it came out Until now My subscription expires in 2016 When I open the app it requires me to purchase the April version even though I am a subscriber All of my past issues are available for download I have sent two help emails One was answered by telling me to log in again Still didnt work The second help email hasnt been answered What good is a subscription if you cant get the magazine How can a publication which criticizes peoples products act this way I wouldnt award them even one mouse     Cant Get The April 2015 Issue
I like many other who have written comments have terrible issues trying to find my magazines My subscription always seems to disappear I have to enter my account by trying to find an old print issue Previous issues are not available for me to download Very upset     Im so disappointed in Macworld
This has been going on for some time A new issue comes out but doesnt show up in the app I can see in the store theres a new issue available I have to delete the app then reinstall it After that the latest issue shows up Its getting to be an annoyance           Always have to delete and reinstall app to get new issue
I have a paid subscription through April 2016 I have now lost access to all issues I had previously downloaded AND the app tells me I am not a subscriber yet when I try to subscribe it tells me I have an active subscription Pitiful fail     Garbage
Zinio doesnt let me save a page It doest let me decide which page to share It doesnt tell me how many pages are in the magazine In the thumbnails view it doesnt let me select which pages to print Long upsetting story short The digital edition doesnt work For a brand that made its name with informed smart critiques it is tragically clear that you did not have a team on hand to test this foray into digital world The good news is that you have us your readers Please fix the problems we have highlighted for you Thanks     The digital edition doesnt work
New update 529 requires that you sign in each time you want to read part of an issue Sign in means entering your 8 digit account number and your email address Ridiculous Unless you read the magazine in one sitting you have to sign in over and over again        Must Enter Account and Email Each Time
As an avid readersubscriber of Macworld for 20 years this recent evolution to the digital sphere has been abominable You would think that such a magazine discussing evolutionary Apple products would have perfected the transportation highway from print to digital Gaining access to my paid subscription on an iPad is difficult if not a complete failure Further I would prefer reading the magazine that is stored on some other server rather than being forced to download onto my devise taking valuable memory space I do not recommend those interested in subscribing to Macworld to undertake this arduous task at the moment I hope you are listening Customer Relations and taking these numerous complaints NOT to your boss but to the OWNERS of this magazine for their needed actions I would prefer returning to the print edition style and pay a bit more for an annual subscription than to go through all of this Please fix these problems or simply go out of business and let some other company succeed where you have fallen down     So frustrating
I am a long time subscriber and read on my iPad Mini but really want to be able to read on my 6 too A lot of magazines have a compatible version Please make it available to iPhones ASAP        Need iPhone version
I want to choose which issue to read each time I open the MacWorld app Instead it just pops to the last unread spot of the last issue I read Money magazines digital issues work much better I could play around with this a bunch or I could just cancel the subscription and get the print version     Love MacWorld hate digital version
I subscribed to the print edition for 2 years The They pulled the plug on it and its digital only no apologies no incentives but I can live with it However the magazine is about 2 years behind ones like Wired or Esquire Tough to read on iPad mini Worst of all When they update their app it wipes all of your magazines away You have to download again Even worse When you go to the log in site which is a little harder to find than a unicorn none of the links work For example the missing issues Link doesnt work the activate digital subscription doesnt work And the restore issues doesnt work Suggestion to Macworld 1 Help your subscribers 2 Dont scam us with a poor product after we paid for something else 2 Make a bit of effort on your product     Good magazine Could be the worst interface ever
New version upgrade disables previous downloads and you need to scramble to find the last issues cover for your account number to log in again This while being prompted to upgrade while starting to read the latest version after long download Terrible     Disaster
The digital magazines are simply amazing The ingenuity that has went into the was the user interacts with content is simply amazing As a programmer I admire the work that was done with the various displays of content scrolling links and swiping Theres extremely high quality graphics and print which simply makes the magazine clear and easy to read I would give it 5 stars but the App is quiet confusing with its subscription system its own account and the UI before one downloads a magazine Because of the flaws in the subscription side of things 4 stars              The Bad Reviews Are Wrong Great Mag
Long time subscriber cannot get magazines App to work keeps telling me Im a current subscriber but will not let me download new issues     Terrible
Cant even get logged in to read the mag because the letters on my keyboard disappear when asked to key in my password Yeah     Nonfunctional
Its too bad that the bottom line has the final word Its true that all paper magazines are pretty much on their last legs save for a select few more suitable for coffee tables than reading This was strictly a costcutting move and sadly it will not succeed in keeping this venerable magazine alive When my subscription expires Im done with it Adios MacWorld it was good while it lasted I miss those old giant printed editions now     CEO
I agree that all you get is a 6 page preview even with a paid subscription     God Awful
All you get is a 6 page preview You can go beyond What wrong with this app Youll need a computer to delete it     App doesnt work
All I want to do is keep reading Macworld until my subscription expires in the Fall Then I can be rid of it forever I cant even do that now There is a new issue out right now I can preview it in the app but they want me to pay again to get it Knock knock Macworld I have a SUBSCRIPTION     Cant wait until subscription expires
Cant download     Cant download
Really getting worse since the latest version released some months agoshame     Bad Bad Bad
I dont need to repeat all the negative comments to which I must sadly concur Ive been a long time reader of the magazine Im stuck with the digital subscription and I dont know how to cancel it Any advice BTW Want to see how good a digital magazine can be take a look at The New Yorker     Like Print Magazine Hate Digital Version
Just wanted to read something in the last issue and found that I had to sign in again Poor move by Macworld I do not want to have to carry its sign in info around nor do I want to sign in each time like others note     Sign in
I have had a print and iPad subscription for a long time Now that I have an iPhone 6 Plus I wanted at least some level of access to the same material but no dice Without the print version do I now have to carry around an extra device just to read this     no iPhone 6 support
IDG is discontinuing the print edition so I did the conversion to this iPad edition Now I know why the last few print editions have been unreadable with tiny type fonts and weird colored backgrounds They were optimizing the layout for the new electronic editions The trouble with the eedition is it is huge and takes many minutes to download even on a fast wifi connection I dont like having the storage on my iPad taken up with magazines I used to keep back issues of Macworld No more No room The mag itself is not bad to navigate Unfortunately some articles are presented as videos instead of articles so I cannot read silently any more The content is not useful and interesting enough There is another mag out there with better and more useful content At least they did extend my subscription by a couple of years in lieu of a discount for having been given an inferior product with no notice and no choice I will try it for a while I feel kind of ripped off thoughupdate this is a ripoff I cannot get access to any more issues even though I have the subscription Help on the web site is not available or not working     Prefer the print edition
Hello I looked at all other reviews here looks a bit strange that I dont have the problems at all described by everyone else Eg I logged in once and now when I go to Newsstand Macworld I come directly to my account no need to login again Regarding Battguys comment that the login site is a little harder to find than a unicorn I go to Help Access Account there is the link right there takes two clicks from them starting page of the app just my 002 Regards Roland              Hm maybe its me but the app works for me
I got an update notice the app would not update I cannot get help I have remove the app sent email and nothing For a Mac magazine to talk about other peoples apps they are clueless about making their own app work     Trouble nothing but
Although I am a longtime reader of the print version of Macworld I understand why they need to change to a digital only format Change or die right Further I love most of the aesthetic changes in the most recent update although I do have a few suggestions I am no longer able to continue my reading where I last left off Every time I go back into the magazine I am forced to pick the issue I want to read again and find my place in the magazine again A real pain The log insubscription portion of the app and interface looks and feels terribly outdated and cumbersome Lastly the upgrade process from the former version was very kludgy My guess is that this is due to sticking with the outdated log insubscription interface see prior paragraph Keep moving forward Macword Digital The haters will come along eventually           Macworld is evolving
Update Macworld continues to crash in the background approximate 20 times a day This means that if you are reading Macworld on the iPad and then you put down the iPad for 30 minutes if you pick up the iPad again youre back at the iPad home screen To get back to where you were you have to go through the 8 steps below to get back to where you were Im all for electronic copies where its done well but this app is done EXTREMELY poorly and this COLOSSALLY bad bug has been around for 4 months without a fix This is inexcusable IT CANNOT SAVE YOUR PLACE IT IS A MAGAZINE APP Every time you restart the app ie every time you want to read a magazine you are back at the cover with its stupid animation Then you have to swipe to the first page and go to bookmarks be sure to bookmark a page when youre done and then go to your place Which of course isnt your place because each article is a set of vertical pages And the bookmark only records the top page of each article So when I want to read an article where I was the previous day heres what I do 1 Tap newsstand icon 2 Tap Macworld magazine inside icon 3 Tap latest issue 4 Swipe cover to first page 5 Wait a second or two for first page to display you need to do this for the bookmarks menu to be available 6 Tap bookmarks icon 7 Select your most recent bookmark 8 From that page manually swipe down 3 or 4 pages I forget I was falling asleep when I put the iPad down and try and resume reading where I left off But this is better than paper I guess So glad they canned their entire staff and came up with this gem of an implementation FWIW the previous update was better it at least saved your place saving about 4 steps and 20 seconds of startup time over this version     This app is awful since last Januarys update
I was a bit concerned when I was told I would need to transition from the print version of Macworld to the digital version because what Ive been exposed to until now yes Im a reluctant digital print adopter are the PDF only versions where you must scroll around and zoom in and out to read what you want While I feel there are several issues to be ironed out Macworld digital has addressed many of my concerns with their Enhanced Edition The Good Download speed for the December 2014 version was about 2 minutes over my 25 Mbps home wifi using my iPad2 and IOS7 Going to the table of contents clicking on any article and being taken directly to it Being able to flip through the magazine just like a normal magazine Watching a video tutorial of what is covered in an article Thumbnail views of the first page of every article so you can jump to any article in the magazine The Bad Some of the advertisements had print that was too small I assume they will need to work with their advertisers on this or add a scroll bar or zoom capability to the app The font used in the articles was good but I wonder if a different font would produce better results on older iPads Alternately provide an option for a bigger or different font Article scrolling using the scroll bar which some articles used The article graphic or picture stayed put while the reader is required to scroll more often due to the reduced space I would prefer a bigger space for scrolling and have the graphic or picture move with the article or at least have a reduced size when the scrolling starts              Surprisingly Good
I was forced over to the digital edition after Macworld canceled the print edition Reading the magazine using this app makes me miss the print option even more Its very pretty but not very usable The text is quite small and cant be adjusted pages seem to be fixed format viewable in portrait mode only Some pages are missing Its sometimes hard to tell the ads from the colorful first pages of multipage articles Its pretty easy to accidentally trigger videos or page transitions when its not intended It doesnt help that the action for some locations on the screen is contextdependent The tiny embedded scroll windows in some articles are painful to use This is over all a very unsatisfactory alternative to a fine print magazine Ill be asking for a refund of the rest of my existing subscription        Paper was better
This has been a frustrating experience after being a subscriber for years I cannot get logged on to get my magazine since they dropped the print edition in November Ill write again But they must not like me Bah Humbug     Frustrated
I rarely write reviews BUT have made an exception for Macworld I receive the print edition and USED to be able to read the digital version on my iPad Now I cant and all the copies in my Library have disappeared and no matter what I do they can not be retrieved Am really irritated with publications that pro ice free digital than change their minds and pull every copy you have ever had Then even their digital version is shaky Know they want us to go digital but how can we with such volatile service     Horrible
Have a subscription Rally around the pole Keep running around the pole Macworld downloaded after putting in subscription zip Zinio downloaded No access just pan handling Why would I want to waste my time with a bunch of garbage Look at when I bought the subscription     Night Mare MacWorld
Trying this under iOS 8 beta and it continually crashes You would think a Mac magazine would be in the forefront of digital development but not this one The MacLife digital works perfectly so I know it can be done Go figure     Come on Macworld
Im a longtime reader and subscriber Love it on the iPad It has a fresh new design great interactive elements Looks and reads great on my iPad                 Great mag
I have been a subscriber to Macworld since the first edition After reading Zinios legal terms I am forced to give up on MacWorld Be sure you read all of the terms before subscribing see just one examples below How we use cookiesWe require that cookies be enabled in your Web browser Zinio may allow other companies that are providing content on the Site to set and access their own cookies on your computer Other companies use of cookies is subject to their respective privacy policies No way Zinio     No to Zinio
I decided to subscribe directly through the app store Since then I bought a new iPad and the subscription is unrecognized The only sign in option offered is to the magazine web site not with my itunes account It appears this will be a non starter Very disappointing as the product is OK     Very poor subscription management
I am a longtime subscriber who is not going to renew     This is a sad excuse for a readerfriendly publiation
Does not seem to work with iOS 8 Constantly crashes     Crashes
IPad 3 OS 8 It took several fumbling tries to set up from my print account Almost impossible to read pages in order some pages cannot be accessed To archive takes too many tries until it finally works Otherwise prettyPlease fix this Eventually it should be greatIt lik the print magazine     Does not work well
This is supposed to be the premier publication for all things Apple including iOS and they can not even manage the most rockbottom basic functionality of a landscape mode in their app something that pretty much every other noniOScentric magazine can handle This is the only one that I currently read which has this limitation and please dont use interactive features as an excuse Wired has been doing it for years in any orientation Especially now that they have abandoned the print edition there is no excuse to be forced into this format Hopefully one of the next updates will make them finally catch up with everybody else     Seriously
Its tough to assign a star rating to Macworld On the one hand its well Macworld The content writing and editing ranges from above average to excellent But the implementation of the iPad app that delivers that content is a disaster Every page contains a popup ad at the bottom right that covers text of the article and there is no way to get rid of it So if you want to read an article just know that you will never see the final paragraph Navigation between articles and even pages of articles is so difficult that its often easier to close the app and reopen it to move to another article Cmob Macworld youre better than this For a publication that pulls no punches eg as I write this there is a current article saying iTunes 122 is a disaster it would be nice to see you getting your own house in order before asking users to believe you criticism of someone elses        Very Disappointing Implementation
After struggling with the Zinio version unsuccessfully and downloading the Macworld app I would have to say that this is even worse however difficult that achievement was to reach I am unable to read previous issues and have to re enter data each time After 20 years of subscribing I really wish Id never extended my subscription Pitiful effort and lesson learned Sad     My last Macworld subscription
Exactly as bad as the others say     I wish I could give it zero stars
Im at the end of my MacWorld subscription and Im giving up The app is soso but not at all the convenience of the oldfashioned print format which I used to look forward to and savor turning pages browsing digesting reflecting We have TOO MUCH STUFF on our devices so theres information OVERLOAD Theres just no motivation to make any one thing a priority like I used to do Ive hardly used the digital version If there were an inexpensive version Id probably continue but WHY PAY THE SAME PRICE FOR A DIGITAL edition as for the print Im SO sorry to say goodbye to MacWorld I loved it for two decades and will miss it but its just not the same experience and not worth a print price        Giving upSADLY
Ive been a print subscriber to MacWorld for going on 20 years Perhaps its my age lifestyle or personality but I prefer a printed newspaper or magazine by far in almost every case While this is the same content it is much more difficult to read The absence of a landscape mode means the reader has to either have a vertical stand or hold the iPad My subscription expires in February 2015 It will be my last issue        So Far A Beautiful Informative Digital Magazine That I Hate
