MaxiVista turns your iPad into a second monitor for your Windows PC Don t let your iPad gather dust while you work on your Laptop or Desktop MaxiVista gives your iPad a completely new ...
Love the app use it every day to have my ipad function as a third monitor just for keeping itunes open while at work Unfortunately since the update it seems to be a bit crashier than it was before              less stable since update
Title says it all Ive tried everything in there woefully inadequate support docs to get my computer and the iPad to see each other I have Windows 7 and can connect many things to my wifi so there is nothing wrong with my connection I know how to work with firewalls Flat out waste of 10     Doesnt work
This was easy to install although the Maxivista website wasnt too clear on the steps Im using with Dell Latitude E5400 Windows XP After installing it on my laptop I wasnt sure what to do next I think I found my answer in FAQs I googled Maxivista iPad app and it took me to the iTunes store and that was where I spent 999 I did not purchasepay anything at the Maxivista website Once installed on both the laptop looks for the iPad When it finds it it asks you if the location is correct right left etc That went a bit hinky on me but left click on the icon lower right gave me the opportunity to adjust I wasnt expecting miracles just a place where I could display and update my work log in excel Im an IT Analyst consultant who mostly works from home and as a consultant I like to record EVERYTHING I do for a client My original justification for getting an iPad 2 was that when I travel I do not want to use my employer issued laptop for anything personal Of course music movies books on the go is great as is a lightweight computer for browsing etc Being able to extend its use as additional monitor for just 999 is just icing on the cake While on you iPad and in the Maxivista app you can press the home button and continue using other iPad apps Press the home button twice and you can reopen Maxivista One other goal of mine is to clean up my desk Currently laptop with docking station two monitors keyboard mouse phones etc etc Im hoping to dump the two monitors maybe keyboard and use laptop for main screen and iPad for extended screen iPad will suffice but can I live with laptop screen keyboard and touchpad                 Extra screen real estate desk real estate
While the program works we didnt know until after the purchase that it will not duplicate screens eg Show the same content on the iPad that is seen on the notebook Thinking it was something we werent understanding we went to the support section and spent way too much time to find out that function is not supported Its such an obvious feature to include you would expect them to mention UP FRONT the program doesnt do it Its almost a deceptive practice not to mention that limitation since its impossible to get a refund This purchase set the record for wasted app dollars Extremely disappointing     Fo us a total waste of 10
This application crashes immediately upon loading after I installed IOS 43 on my original iPad It also crashes consistently with my new iPad 2 I am not able to post on the progams support forums for technical support since it requires my license code to be known which is not possible since the program always crashes     crashes with IOS 43
It does what it says except that the refresh rate and response time is very slow even after a ton of manual optimization not good for basic functions like a separate chat window for example        Convenient but
I dont use this app a lot but when I installed the recent upgrade to the app it broke the link with my PC and the vendor refused to give me my license key to download the new version of the windows software All in all a very poor show Buyer beware     App upgrade renders software useless
If you consider watching video forget this app Not small not big even optimized nada On old Media Player all black on new Media Player PC application freezes I wanted to add video for the kids on the iPad while I work Perhaps I can use it one day as screen extension for Excel or so my last hope Installation is easy works like charm you will be happy with it if you have the right expectation           No video support
Crash crash crash Worked for one day so I know its not me and my system I also optimized Which is dumb it should just come optimized as standard setting But has not worked since iPad screen starts to change to second screen then Crash Then again Then again Dont buy it and theres got to be a way dissatisfied customers can get their money back All risk is on customer not on developer to put a good product on the market     How do I get my money back
The new screen is REALLY slow and I cant watch videos on it or even go on Facebook without it completely freezing I tried optimizing it a bunch of times but nothing ever helped They need a support page that actually gives steps to optimize correctly I wont be using this very much so it was pretty much a waste I wouldnt recommend paying 10 dollars for this until they get decent updates that make this somewhat functional        Not very impressed
This is exactly what I was looking for I tried the others and never got past the demo since the performance was so poor This one works well enough to be useful When I am on the road I use to miss my extra monitor so I can keep Outlook up Now i can have it up on the ipad and not miss a thing Dont expect live video performance and after my optimization on certain wireless networks i can have a few compression artifacts This is only with the mouse moving though I would say it works about as well as a usb video interface but no wires and no monitor to carry around Dont forget to optimize you will find it on the applet that runs from your taskbar Nice job leaving the sliders there to tweak if we want to                 Nice program
It will not link up with my computer regardless of what I try Do not expect any one on one help as it is not available I would have rather given my 10 to a drunk at least he would have gotten some use from the money     Horrible
So this was one of the first apps I downloaded for my IPad 2 and initially I was extremely underwhelmed The framerate was miserable and moving the mouse around was painful The wifi in the building Im staying in for my business trip is awful tho so I figured that maybe connecting by USB would be better So I turned to the Internet and in the process stumbled over MaxiVistas website where they explained how to use their optimization tool After optimizing the connection was amazing and it became quite easy to use the mouse cursor while in the iPad screen I was looking at some reviews between this app and Air Display and especially in the video reviews I could tell that they were using the unoptimized raw image display Unoptimized the program is completely useless so if you judged it before clicking on the optimize button you should really go back and give it another shot Installation and activation was super easy on a windows vista 64 bit laptop Install the app download the program off their website for your computer and the program links up once you open the app I would have given the app 4 stars because they really should tell people to run the optimizer immediately either through explicit instructions or preferably a wizard that pops up during installation but i feel kind of obligated to counter all of the low ratings given how incredibly useful and simple to use the app is Multitouch support would be nice and I read in some forums that they will be adding it at some point Should they ever do so it would definitely be a 5 star must have app                 Misused
Yes it technically extends the desktop but the performance is so horrific that its useless Youd think you could improve this by turning off things like Desktop background but youd be wrong And annoyingly the thing doesnt know right from left Of no use to me whatsoeverI never use it A wasted 10 bucks     Useless
I actually liked this app quite a bit Until I got a new computer with windows 8 I inquired about when an updated driver would be available and got no answer Their website makes it sound like they may not even bother making a windows 8 driver This app hasnnt even been updated in an extremely long time Guess it was good while it lasted        Very Disappointed
This App does exactly what it says it does it becomes an extension of your computer monitor The image quality isnt outstanding but it still gets the job done As long as you optimize your device for the best settings it will work efficiently I purchased this app to help monitor brackets at local tournaments I organize and it works perfectly                 Awesome
Ive been using it with a ThinkPad laptop running Windows 7 and an iPad 1 Overall it works great just as advertised and setup was a snap It works great for keeping chat windows or documentation on the iPad screen while I work in the main screen There are some slight limitations to be aware of though The display has a slight lag similar to what youd expect with a remote desktop client So it wont work very well for displaying animated content like videos Also to get IE9 to work correctly on the iPad screen I had to turn off hardware acceleration in the IE9 advanced settings tab Also while you have Maxivista enabled on the laptop it turns off the aero display setting in Win7              Little laggy but works great
It is an ok app a little expensive and it has a slow refresh rate It also slows down the computer           Ok
I have this installed with a Windows 7 64bit laptop and its working great I have dual monitors already at work and to my great surprise it works with that setup too effectively adding a THIRD monitor The connection for me is pretty fast but I have a pretty reliable wireless network both at home and at work and I tend to keep more static stuff like a skype IM window on this ipad monitor so that it doesnt take up room on my other monitors I had a frustrating time with some other display software out there this ones software installed and worked painlessly Thanks MaxiVista folks                 Best monitor app for Windows 7
Does not work with My computer What a waste of 999 DO NOT BUY IT     Maxiviast
I tried to get Air Display to work for 7 days but nothing worked I loaded Maxivista and had it working in seconds Good support and clear easy to understand setting unlike the product I tried first speed is good I tried Air Display first because of the low speed rating on this product but I think the low speed rating was for the old product version this version works great I also like that this product only loads on my PC when I want to use it                 Works great fast and easy to setup
Im an appaholic and as such Im often disappointed This app is one of the best Ive used If you have a PC you must buy this Its even idiotproof                 Worth every penny
I can connect to Windows 7 Desktop without Aero as stated it will not display Windows 7 applications with gradient colors i requested a refund from MaxiVista as it did not work as advertised but they pointed the finger to iTunes and told me to get my money back from them No way to get a refund from iTunes Dont be a sucker and waste your money on this     Dont wast your money on this
Flat out does not work Installed the ipad app and the windows app rebooted and now the ipad is NOT working as a monitor and Nvidia drivers are all messed up Uninstalled Maxivista and it works now Tried to report a problem to get my money back and of course Apple says to talk to the developer Save yourself the time and trouble RUN     would be a bad choice even if it were free
I could see giving it two stars if it were a free app but a production release with that price tag With bugs and performance issues like this Avoid     Disappointing
Very slow server app fails to find the iPad frequently even if you manually specify the IP etc iOS calendar notifications break the display in this version No tech support to speak of except for a forum run by an admin who will delete your thread if he doesnt know the answer to your question If you are lucky enough to get an answer it will often be useless or at the very least arrive several weeks later     Poor product written by an indifferent company with no tech support
I was hesitant at first about getting this App After reading the reviews I decided to try it out anyway The install for my PC was quick and easy After starting it up for the first time it automatically detected my iPad Third Gen I already had the application open on my iPad and it was just a few more clicks to get things running The program is very easy to use I think and it works very well I will probably be using it for when I am doing my Homework and will either be having the Teachers notesPowerPoints up or any Data that I need to see I was curious about plying video so I opened up one that I had through VLC player It worked up till I put the entire Video on the iPad I am sure I just need to play around with it a bit to get it to work the way i want it to though I am looking forward to playing around with this more                 This works Great
Couldnt even get the program to recognize my video driver on new HP laptop Forum comments years old and of no help Would have been more satsified tearing a 10 into pieces     Total Waste
I bought this so I could use my iPad as a second screen while using Powerpoint and Excel Every time that I connected to my PC the app would crash on the iPad It looks like at least 10 people liked this but buy this fairly expensive app with a skeptical eye     Could never get it to work
All knowledge workers in my company have at least two monitors at their desks Dual monitors make them more efficient whether it is a secretary inside sales rep or the President of the company On the road we used to be stuck with a single display and that put a severe crimp in our normal work habits This app has made a HUGE difference If you are accustomed to a multidisplay environment you will be VERY pleased with this app As far as setup I use a ThinkPad running windows 7 Most people in my company however are running XP Some of us have iPad 2s but iPad 1s are more common Regardless of the device combinations no setup took more than 3 minutes Even without using the optimize button there is no appreciable delay or scrolling problems Granted if you are connecting to a wifi hotspot with a weak signal you may have more of a problem Then again latency is not a problem with the app but with the place you happen to be at the time 10 seems like a lot of money in the iPad software universe but how much is your time worth to you What is your effective hourly rate and how much time do you need to save to pay that 10 back                 My favorite travel app now standard now for all of my road warriors
Installed easily I had to specify my IP address due to security settings on the office WAN I have used graphics intensive apps with no difficulties Visio Excel SSMS all work fine IE is ok Google Chrome only updates the screen when I swap tabs If I scroll down it wont scroll until I switch tabs and switch back                 Good second monitor for work
Connected quickly but could not run any programs on the iPad screen through this app Moved Excel over it never opened but it did on my laptop If I moved an already open program over it never sized the window properly window was skewed as they sometimes get when hung up and froze Windows would not resize Complete waste of money     Didnt work
I didnt have high expectations when I bought this app I thought it would be as laggy as remote connection After I optimized it it Just worked perfectly My main purpose is using command bars if you are programming in Mathematica and have little screen and dont wanna be bothered with the function template you just send it to your iPads screen and it works perfectly as if it was an extension of your screen Otis you are using photoshop you can just use your pad as the control bar and monitor as the main screen I believe this program is not intended for you to movie stream If all you need is more working space on your computer this is perfect                 Works Perfectly
I bought this app just because I thought that it will have touchscreen support and I was wrong It does work great as a second display for my Pc So I bought air display which works with touchscreen support but still got some bugs its in beta release If maxivista will add touchscreen for start Ill give it 5stars A keyboard inputright mouse clickscrolltwo fingers zoom etc will make it the ultimate solution     Touch screen please
This one works unlike the first one I tryed ADy No need for tech support It installed and operated as posted Yes it took me almost 10 minutes to install due to the fact you also have to download and install it on the main computer but that only makes sense I am using it as a third monitor for gauges during play of Microsoft Flight Simulator X This way I can use both of my main monitors for a panaramic view while in the air Thank you MaxiVista Jay in Magalia                 It works
Tried using with a new iPad 3 could not get my laptop to recognize the iPad and there is no trouble shooting option or forums that I could find        Used to work fairly well
Could not get it to connect Asking for refund Very frustrating     Caution
it was hard to install on my pc but i just did something wrong once i got it installed it was awesome now i have 3 screens for my pc it works like a charm well worth 10 bucks                 Pretti Good
I have carefully read all review I usually read one star review first then up to 3 stars I dont read any 4 or 5 stars review because usually it is not true or written by some amateur This time I really want my iPad to be my second monitor so I carefully read all review Because the last two review give them 5 stars so I decide to try it Once I have installed it I immediately try those apps that I use it daily such as Excel Outlook and IE I was totally disappointed The idea is good but the performance is horrible Doesnt Apply allow custoer to refund I guess to spend 10 dollars at In n out is much better than this At least In n Out can fill up my stomach with pleasure and this one So please take my advice dont buy it at least till release 10 BTW I just install it since if I dont it will be one of the idle app that eats up my CPU and memory     In n Out or this app
Poor quality slow response and no touch feature Have switched to air display Dont buy it     Worst purchase of mine so far
Refund or windows 81 compatibility please     Doesnt work on windows 8
Installed and tried to optimize for two hours to no resolve Optimization tool is no help and although an extended display did appear almost immediately operating any program from the iPad display proved impossible Display lagged windows wouldnt maximize movies wouldnt play would begin to play on the computer screen only to receive a windows codec error when dragging to ipad display Website support is geared towards the pro edition guess again if you think thats what you bought so most of the options they suggest you manipulate are not available in the app App should be testable for use and some decent instructions should be provided     Wish I could get my money back
Initial load on Window 7 PC causes screen to run at 640 x 320 with no ability to change Reboot and reload driver nets BSOD Unable to even get to WiFi link between PC and tablet No technical support Dont waste your money     Disappointing
This is an Awesome program with bum wrap I love this app and would recommend it to anyone but those with little computer knowledge For all those people that say this program is not good it is proof that they are absolutely useless on computers and they need to cut the black cord that connects the power to their computers The program works flawlessly and there is no sluggishness at all I did have to make sure my ipad and my computer were on the same network as I have several to chose from where i work I also had to manually enter my ipads ip address in the manual connections setting on the desktop and then it connected flawlessly and it was quick and very easy you will also want to optimize the connection from the desktop app once you are connected to the ipad I view live video on the ipad with no lag from the computer if that says anything about how good the app flows over I love this app and would recommend it to anyone but those with little computer knowledge                 Awesome program with bum wrap
iPad works fine as a second monitor but my main monitor ceases to be able to function     Awful
I cannot get the app to work My iPad flickers the PC says connected but nothing happened I WENT TO THE DISCUSSION BOARD TRIED TO POST BUT THE SECURITY KEY DOES NIT DISPLAY FRUSTRATED     Does not work and no support
I downloaded the MaxiVista for iPad and executed it Then I discovered that I needed the MaxiVista for my Windows XP machine I downloaded the MaxiVista Demo Server there is a significant charge for the nondemo servers After three hours of trying to connect the iPad to the Windows XP machine I gave up There was no specific documentation that I could find for the iPad and the documentation that I did find was not at all helpful I wrote my first commercial program in 1968 I was a director of engineering in a Fortune 100 company I consider myself very technical Im sorry that I bought MaxiVista for my iPad     Didnt Work
Need to be able to specify in iPad app which server is allowed to access it So if you are in environment where there are multiple iPads with app running your iPad will only connect to your machine not someone elses           Needs security
No issues downloading and syncing to my HP ProBook Its not nearly as functional as a second monitor A little slow but a big help when out of the office Im not upset I paid the 999 for it Bottom line dont expect the world from it and you wont be disappointed           Fairly Useful
Went through hell and tried everything and this worked for me make an ad hoc connection between devices make sure its on channel 11 and dont set a security key Boom Google ad hoc if youre confused                 Finally got it to work with windows xp and iPad air 704
