Buy a ticket anywhere, anytime - in seconds. The Official MBTA mTicket App is like a ticket office in your pocket. Your smartphone is your ticket The MBTA mTicket app is now available for the Fitchburg, ...
So I will give the app is clunkier than it needs to be and certain parts of it could use some interface updates But it is sufficient and works fine I used the app for two trips into Boston on the commuter rail I was easily able to select the correct trip purchase a ticket on my phone and use said ticket all without having to fumble with cash on the train Yes there are a lot of steps involved to purchase a ticket even if it is a trip that you have made before but who cares It is still saving me time and is more convenient than purchasing on the train I will definitely be using this app the next time I find myself taking the train I would recommend this app as it does exactly what its supposed to              Clunky but functional
Had to pay double for my grandmother because it doesnt include senior pricing Person on the mbta didnt even know there was an app and was useless     No senior pricing
Other commenters have rated the ticket functionality which I have not yet used Im frustrated enough by the schedules piece It does not remember the line you used last If you choose a different service day or direction it doesnt update until you tap redisplay time That is not how you design an app Then to top it off the app resets to the home screen every time you switch apps So forget about coordinating your schedule with an email bus schedule Amtrak Final peeve why is this app named MBTA if it has nothing to do with subway or bus     Schedules nearly unusable
It doesnt give you real time updates on the schedule Usually I get to the platform and it then tells me my train is 3040 minutes late I wish that every time I closed out of the app and then reopened it it wouldnt refresh to the home page If Im looking at the schedule and then close out of the app then reopen it I have to go back to the schedule page click on inbound or outbound and search for the times again           Could use some upgrades
I cant stand that it takes you to the home page if you close out of the app If Im looking at a schedule and I need to open a text next time I open the app it takes me to the home page instead of staying on the schedule I wish I didnt have to go through those motions over and over        Why does it always return to the home page
Finally got iPhone 5 supported              iPhone 5
Works perfectly for my onceaweek trip into the city I dont go in enough for a fullblown Commuter Rail pass to be cost effective Also was always a hassle to have cash on me to pay the conductor Now I dont have to borrow 20 from my wife or kids if I forgot to get cash the night before Quick and easy way for the semiregular but not heavy user of Commuter Rail to use the service Could see how heavier users could benefit from more features Hopefully MBTA will continue to improve the app for them For my situation the app works great and has really improved my commuter rail experience                 Great
I lost the app on my phone probably deleted accidentally and emailed customer support Their response was prompt clear and helpful and they were able to migrate my previously purchased tickets for me Its a pleasant surprise when customer service is this efficient and responsive                 Excellent support
This app is far from intuitive its easier to just buy a ticket     Poorly thought out
Got this app for travel with my husband to and from south station and we could not buy multiple round trip tickets Only multiple one way tickets     Disappointing
How many steps should it take to buy and activate a ticket Two Three Try eleven and Im being generous 1 Tap on Buy Tickets 2 Tap on the trip you took yesterday in Recent Trips If you never took this trip insert 7 steps here No kidding 3 Tap the One Way ticket type just like yesterday 4 Tap the same card you used yesterday duh 5 Tap the CVV field 6 Type the digits and tap done Is this one step Im gonna give it to ya here designers 7 Tap the Accept checkbox Really 8 Tap Continue Free step Smile at the waiting conductor so he knows youre actually trying to buy the ticket 9 Tap Pay Now 10 Tap on Go To Ticket why oh why 11 Tap Activate Whoever designed this process should be working in insurance claims because that industry is regulated to require such a convoluted transaction maze        Carnival of UX flaws
This WAS an amazing app but now crashes all the time        Keeps crashing over and over
Pros Can buy commuter rail tickets quickly Cons Commuter rail only I thought this was for the MBTA No passbook support Tickets expire Why Did my money suddenly go bad Schedule doesnt show you the next train so if youre planning on taking a train in the evening you have to scroll to the end of the list Rather tedious The map is just a picture of the commuter rail stops Would be more helpful if it showed the stops on a geographic map Maybe some GPS location for the next build        Underwhelming
Helpful to check schedules travel advisoriesalerts and buy tickets at the lowest possible rate Its very nice to have the train schedule in my pocket at all times so I never forget it Just wish I could save my favorite station I noticed its recently been consistently shown as orange while all others are white though so seems like theyre working on this Definitely helpful for all commuters              Helpful for commuters
Primitive interface Tickets all have a 3 month expiration date that is conveniently not stated at point of purchase Wasted 40 for having faith that the MBTA can build a decent app     Student
I have been very happy with this app until I showed up for a train today that doesnt exist The schedule changed in December 2014 Its May 2015 and the schedule in the app is different than what is posted on the MBTA website           Please update schedules
I thoroughly enjoy this application and Ive used it many many times without issue Like the title says I would love Passbook integration and for the design of the application to go in the direction of iOS 7 In addition to that if all branches of the MBTA could start utilizing this and moving away from paper tickets and plastic it would certainly be a huge step forward                 Passbook and iOS 7 Design Please
I used this app today for the first time as I had to go into Boston I had no issues what so ever Everything went smooth with the app In fact even the gentleman collecting the cash helped me open up the tickets on my phone Highly recommend Its nice not having to deal with carrying cash Made my life a whole lot easier Not sure what the negative reviews are all about Just follow the instructions and you should be all set                 Worked great on my first try
I bought round trip tickets to and from Boston in 45 seconds The app is wet user friendly              Worked great
For some reason it wont allow me to cross from one colored T line to another and create a schedule I found a workaround that kind of fixed it sometimes but its not worth the trouble        Worked well for a while but
integrate touchID improve resumption of state when switching back into the app provide a way to delete old credit cards           not bad and could be better
With todays update fixing things Im pumped to use this app again                 Yay update
Handsdown the best app I have Simple elegant useful intuitive                 The very best
Poorly designed app and even worse than the god awful website I received no receipt for my ticket purchase and no instructions for times and locations related to it It would be nice if they hired someone smarter than a third grader to design their apps     Sad
Would be a great app if it didnt reset back to the home page every time you move away from it Frustrating to rider conductor The app isnt bad it is what it is as Coach BB would say only works for CommuterFerry system as described But its fast allows you to select starting ending locations in case you need the flexibility daybyday and is better than paper Just make it multitask ready please           Home Menu Reset Needs to Stop
The schedule has to be refreshed from the network anytime you leave the app and come back which requires at least 5 taps and a lot scrolling Please MBTA can you cache it locally for an hour or a day        Schedule requires frequent refresh
I use this app regularly and rarely run into a problem Always does what I need it to do until now Bought my round trip ticket for the morning without a hitch Went to check the schedule and theres a new glitch it flips to a similar screen from the homepage and throws an error message Just what I needed in time for my commute Lets hope it fixes by the morning           Well it was working
Schedule right took CC info fine but not sure has ever been used on my train yet The conductor looked at me as if he had no idea what I was showing him but I confidently said Its my ticket He said OK and then walked on Not sure how long it has been out or if MBTA did any training with their folks                 Seems to work well
My main issue with this app is that trying to answer a simple question Whens the next train to Boston isnt easy to get an answer to It involves clicking back and forth through the Schedule and Alert screens memorizing a bunch of train numbers eg Train numbers 810 812 814 are on a temporary weekday schedule starting last week and then scrolling through long lists of stations and times to figure it all out The app epitomizes how out of touch MBTA management is with the basic needs of its passengers        Not intuitive
Had no problem for months On the train it kept randomly closing the display right when the conductor was coming fix it to stay open please It kept taking back to the main menu By the time I pressed My Tickets chose the active ticket and it finally rendered the conductor was long gone        Please support iOS 7
Compared to similar apps Ive used for other cities this is a starter attempt lacking anything really helpful No schedule search by destination No ability to set favorite journeys No time sensitivity when looking at schedules Resets to home screen on minimizing app Ive not tried the online ticket purchase but as a journey planner for someone that does not know the lines stops near useless        Lacks usability or convenience
Always resets to main screen Its annoying if youre trying to check the schedule Should have an option to save your lines and an account option to save your tickets Also the MBTA needs to get on the ball with the service alerts The alerts are never accurate or timely        Still Needs Work
Really disappointing that this is limited to just commuter rail and does not accommodate the T subway     Not available for the T
I find it completely frustrating when I have gone through all the steps to find my schedule and am unable to minimize and reopen the app to the same page Whenever I need to text or open another app and then refer back to the schedule the app opens up to the home page rather than staying on the last page I had open I then have to redo a search for my schedule The ticketing portion if this app works great but thats it Id rather open the schedule in Safari because I know I can minimize and refer back to it           Total recall fail
Im giving this app only 1 star because the only part of it I can use is the schedules and I suppose thats worth a star I really wanted to be able to use this to buy tickets but the app will not accept my email address because theres a dashhyphen in it No not some wacky characterjust a standard dash which can be found on any keyboard even the one on this app When I was having trouble entering my email I reached out to the customer service email and some nameless person confirmed that the app will not accept an email with a dash No apologies no timeframe for when it might be fixed nothing I was told that if I wanted to use the app I would need to use another email I already have a valid email address as evidenced by the fact that I received the Ts response via that email address But no I will need to openmanage a new email account in order to use the app Exactly the level of service I would expect from the MBTA     SEVERELY FLAWED
Everything else works fine except the app returns to home screen no matter what process you were in the middle of as soon as you lock the screen or change the screen to another app A simple fix for a big problem           Resets to home screen
A lot of people are going to use the app while on the train where connectivity can be spotty Recommend you cache as much station info as possible within the app I cant use this app because you appear to have an imposed max limit on the payment name field for credit card Its a very useful app Please make it better I will even pay a few bucks for it without the bugs above           Bugs to fix
Buy tickets when you need them without waiting in lines at the station or paying the excessive surcharges on the train But the app crashes when it doesnt work you have to negotiate with angry conductors and you have to reload the app losing all the tickets you bought and didnt use Use this but only buy single ride tickets so you limit your exposure           Buy single rides only
Why cant I flip between schedules and messenger so that I can plan things with a friend The app reloads itself and sends me back to the home screen every time Most other apps dont do this     Stupid stupid stupid
Hv used this on ioS6 and although not great is was good enough for me and convenient vs dealing w physical passes a 3star app Just upgraded my phone to ios7 Im a dev so testing my iOS apps work on ios7 and mbta app does not run at all stuck on splash screen I now have 50 paid tickets I cannot access big time fail Mbta pls fix this ASAP as you sure know ios7 is around the corner     Broken on iOS7 you lose your tixmoney when upgrade
Cant add a new credit card because this app has decided for some reason that dashes in an email address are not acceptablenever seen anything as stupid     Unusable if you have a dash in your email address
This app makes my daily commute so much easier Takes about 15 seconds to purchase a ticket and is super easy to use                 Perfect for my daily commute
I love this app and use it all the time but I hate how you cant multitask Once you X out of the app and eventually go back into it the whole app restarts Very annoying Needs to be fixed then it will be a perfect app           Great app but
What happened App disappeared from my phone and I cant reinstall it from the App Store     Disappearing app
Seems misnamed You can only buy commuter rail tickets so not very useful     Commuter Rail Only
This app doesnt cover subway system So basically if you buy a month commuter pass for only ten dollars less than the paper version you so my hve acess to subway or local bus like you normally do Instead you have to pay an extra 70 for a lync pass What a scam F the mbta     Total scam
This app is really good and simple to use but the lack of passbook support is a big loss              Good but not great
This app worked well on my iPhone but when I updated to iOS7 it stopped working I have tried deleting it and then reinstalling but I just get a message that it is Already Downloaded So great app for commuter rail until it stops working           Impossible to update
Its a ticketing app Why cant you support ios5     Why no ios5 support
This app needs to have some more multitasking capabilitiesfor instance when you get off the app or the screen dims the app just automatically goes to the home screen and can be a bit of a nuisance for both the passenger as well as conductor when in a hurry As well as adding in some offline features would help during those f           Great but not just yet
