Molten is a powerful and intuitive tool for creating percussive sounds and rhythm sequences for the iPad. Using a revolutionary approach to grid based pattern sequencing that divides time to instantly add tuplets and fills to ...
Very good drum production appInterface is simple and cleareasily operation I like it                 Good app
I installed this app yesterday and have run with it for about an hour It opened loaded drum sounds and performed perfectly the entire time no crash Options and sounds are quite good but have not yet looked to see if additional drum sounds are available This should be a good rhythm note pad for brainstorming              First reviewer missed the boat
Interface is severely outdated looks like iOS 6 and no Retina graphics Drum sounds are weak There are better iOS drum machines out there I fail to see what is so special about this one           Meh Outdated
Its pretty likely that the long review below this one was written by someone involved in the creation of this app This sequencer is NOT diverse it doesnt go faster than a 36 note resolution let alone 64th or 128th notes like most sequencers If you input notes on a standard grid then decide you want to input some tuplets in there the whole step is erased when you changed the base multiple ie go from a 16th note grid to a 24th note grid Also if you dare shorten your measure after inputting notes then lengthen it again the notes from the lengthened portion are now erased If you are programming notes across more than one page there is no way that I have found to stop it from following the wiper meaning the page where youre trying to input notes keeps changing unless you stop the sequencer every time you want to put in a note And lets not even get into the lack of different time scales If you want to make simple boring loops then this app is for you But if you are looking to do anything more complex god forbid slightly unconventional then steer clear of this joke of a music app        Weak weak and more weak
But there are issues Such as sample kit browsing Extremely limited fx I wasnt going to buy this but i saw JR reviewed it well and bought it Simply not worth ten bucks at this point Watch in two weeks it will be 299 and i will kick myself There is so much lacking here The layout is very straightforward like idrum But its just a hassle to get around The knob at the bottom right of the screen which displays the current release info should be the samplekit browser Its just not there yet I hope it gets the devs attention and gets updated The samples are adequate at best not the quality of isequence But adequate Nothing I would use in my daw        I want to like this app
nice app                 good
Nice drum machine Standard sequencer but with a twist You can adjust the step length to add 32 notes and smaller This is missing from a lot of other drum machines It is not a drum synth but it does have some basic functions like envelopes and adjustable pitch Really wish this were a drum synth AND sample player The big stinker though is the sample browsing Scrolling through the small drop down box is a chore and when you have no auto preview it makes selecting sounds a lot of work           A nice start with new ideas
on an iPad running 421 even after killing all suspended processes and running through a full power off power on cycle When I start the app the GUI just says loading at the bottom This excitement continues for about 12 seconds then the app crashes to the background Half price special for zero functionality     Simply doesnt work
Liked this app before current update now crashes every boot uptried reinstalling loss cause till they fix     Crashes
I have tried all the iOS drum apps and have found Molten to be my favorite It has one feature that sets it apart which is the ability to subdivide any quarter of any bar of any instrument snare kick hats etc into an arbitrary number of divisions This makes it very easy to add triplet and sextuplet fills without having to adjust the entire grid Builtin sounds are adequate but you can copy in your own sounds with minor effort MIDI implementation is flawless both IN and OUT And supports Audiobus which should now be considered a minimum requirement for any serious iOS music app                 Favorite iOS drum app
This app is very deceiving it does not look like much For some it may look antiquated and cartoonish but boy it works marveluosly for my needs The ability to create a beat with simplycity with precision and even with velocity settings and all makes for a very expressive drum set The sounds are generic at best but at least there are some in there you can always upload better samples but does not let you create folders to put them all together So if you have plenty of samples like me and upload a bunch be ready to scroll a lot The main use I give to Molten is beat creation Here is my way of using Molten Scenario 1 Create a cool beat in Molten use Audiobus to patch Molten to Auria Solo each part to record to its own track in Auria Fire up Drumagog 5 inside Auria and find a suitable replacement drum part This is where the velocity capabilities of Molten shine as it makes the Drumagog expresion come to life Scenario 2 Create a cool beat in Molten patch Molten via Audiobus in the input slot with your favorite FX in the FX slot and to any output app I found that Molten combined with NLog PROs FX section makes for a very powerful combo So if you do not have it yet you should Simple quick easy and full of possibilities                 My First Step in Making Beats
My iPad shipped with OS322 I updated to 42 and Molten is running great No fail to launch no crashes This app is really easy to use plus it does some stuff that you just cant do on a typical 16 step drum machine It lets you set the number of steps but also you can divide each step into anywhere from 19 notes both odd and even numbers Thats just awesome Plus I can load my own samples and export wavs and MIDI The reverb sounds really good Im having fun with the filter and the bit crusher is just nasty Cant help but 5 star it really unique spin on the drum machine                 I love this app Ill tell you why
Simple and useful              Working it
Ive got this app for the triplets feature and ability to tweak Here are my thoughts after using this app for a few weeks pros tweakable samples effects per sample filter cruncher adding other than 116 notes 4x4 bars structure Cons non intuitive UI with app in this price range Id expect easier navigation cannot preview patterns the whole load save is confusing tweaking is still beta need to fix a few knobs perhaps the DSP engine is weak velocity control and other controls dont work smooth more natural sounds kits not ergonomic control button size placement silly knob Suggestions implement a few double taps to improve navigation eg double tap switches patternsetting more creativity ghost notes snippets              Practicing drum machine
I like this drum app it would be nice if it was universal so I could use it on my iPhone too                 Good app
This is like a stripped down version of Fruityloops sequencer yet amidst the limitations there are many strengths The bit crusher and delay and other fx sound alive and let those fond of manglin sounds mangle away I am uninterested in other peoples patterns or presets so really appreciated how easy it was to make the existing sounds unrecognizable I like a sound engine that is capable of veering out of control The sample import works and lets you completely mess things up One can also get this thing to sound like an old analog tech star drum pretty easily The sound is organic and alive That said I had a few crashes when saving original patterns on an IPAD w 322 Could have longer patterns and a few other tweaks yet this is on its way to being great is plenty good as it is My 8yearold played with it for half an hour so I guess the basic interface is quite clearthough it also has enough depth for exploration by older musicians                 Excellent sound good interface minor quirks
Fun app worth the 2 bucks for sure              Fun app worth 2 bucks for sure
Nice sequencer for generating a beat ESP with Audiobus support Love the ability to segment certain bars differently Need to be able to sort samples differently at least by type if not folders Right now you have to scroll through one huge list of drums           Nice could use some work
Constantly crashingfix please and then I will change my rating Im lowering my rating again because its still crashing after months of waiting for the fix I dont believe the audio buffering issue I did a complete restarted of my iPad 2 in the app still does nothing but flash loading and exit to the background One more week and I will be asking for my money back     Crashing
I picked up Molten Drum Machine on an extreme sale for the companys anniversary I admit that I probably never would have bought it at the full price due to the age of the app and its apparent outdated interface Turns out that its a pretty solid drum machine and this is coming from someone who owns and uses more modern apps like DM1 FunkBox and DrumStudio This has been around for awhile and was actually almost discontinued in 2012 before fans begged the developer to keep it in the store The entire interface is really only two screens theres the sequencing grid with 8 instruments and theres an effects screen that allows you to tweak each sample and add effects And when I say sample I should note that you can load your own The two quickest ways to do this are using AudioCopyPaste preferrably with a go between app linking to DropBox like AudioShare or iTunes File Sharing I hate using the latter but since the sample files were already on my computer it was the quicker way to go Once you pick your instruments there are some basic velocity controls for each hit and you can actually split one beat into many as 9 hits Since the App is AudioBus compatible you could monitor live and split beats for a glitch effect kind of like a drum fill However AudioCopyPaste is my favorite way to export quality loops This is still a very useful app from the people who also brought you Arctic Keys and Arctic ProSynth                 A Classic on iOS Still with features to compete
I need it                 great
I havent gotten around to it yet but if Im reading correctly I can use this to control something like ultra beat If so Ill 5 star this thing so quick But till then its a standard step sequencer A good one           Ok I think I really like this thing
Is quite flawed IMO First it crashed then froze and thats where its at for me at present an unusable app Hopefully therell be a fix presented to correct this soon I would comment on features like swing etc but Ill give the programmers a chance to sort this mess out BEFORE I really get critical Thats all for now     Concept seemed good but
Really digging it No crashes for me but I generally clear all apps and reboot before using a new audio app                 Nice
The layout is nice The sounds are on par but nothing too unique The problem is that is crashes within two minutes If they fixed this it would be a 4 star app No fun if it does not run There is no way to save anymore This app is not worth anything Avoid There is no way to adjust how much of each drum goes to the master effect Delay being really the only effect it is either all or none Weak I like the idea of being able to assign different divisions to each part though     Crashes too often No save
This app works the way I do You set a tempo pick a kit begin entering a sequence It has a nice swing feature I mostly play funk soul and afrobeat and you can do tuplets per beat I can lay down a decent beat then paste it into Garage Band then I suddenly having a working sketch of a song Record a little bass line add some B3by the next rehearsal Im on my way Maybe this isnt the way you work but for me its great And for 2 Puhleaze A steal You cant ride a bus for 2 You cant buy a gallon of gas for 2 And you can make all these great rhythms for 2 Thanks for a great app                 Great app for my needs
UPDATED This recent release has fixed a number of things and made it useful once again Molten is unique in that it allows users set the beat division for any beat of any part from 19 which is great The tuplets now work as they are supposed to It also boasts a versatile little sound engine part You can load samples and do some synthesis to them The knob that is used to adjust values is still a bit too sensitive and makes selecting specific values a bit tedious The drum sound engine needs a major update The envelopes dont have enough control for percussive sounds It is great that the patterns allow you to set velocity per hit but sound engine lacks any parameters that respond to velocity other than amplitude Would love to be able to modify filter EQ and Env Attack time with velocity              Nice little update with fixes
Welcome back                 Great App and support
I buy mostly music creation apps for my iPad and Im just an amateur hobbyist so if an app doesnt make it easy for me to create beats then Im not too happy Not the case here easy to use interface clear instructions and the ease of using iTunes to import your own sounds and export your creations Simple to bounce down to export a single wav file or create midi files One of the first things I did was to import a bunch of my sounds that I created from field recording for drum beats my only complaint is that you have a lot to scroll through to get to the user created sounds would be nice to see all those files categorized or at least have your user file at the top of the list but thats all just my personal preference Theres really a lot of good features to this app and I found it well worth the 999 price you get what you pay for                 Lots Of Great Features You Get What You Pay For
This is yet another example of how excellent design and careful planning are used to create a perfect drum machine Thank you Peace christo                 Everything perfect
The tuplets functionality in this app is awesome and a musthave feature that is just not found in any other gridbased sequencer apps even the expensive ones For that alone get this app My only gripe is that its pretty slow to start up this app Once its up and running it is great              Tuplets feature is indispensible
this thing is great period it does what it sets out to do and excels at it glad its here                 great drum machine
Great interface Up and running in seconds Intuitive fun musical and flexible Jordan Rudess Creator of MorphWiz                 Bravo
