OmniOutliner starts as a blank page. But as you collect, compose, and rearrange text, its powerful outlining features emerge to organize your ideas. Hierarchy, columns, styling, notes use them all in concert or keep ...
Read on for my reasoning I absolutely love this app and it changes the way I take notes at conventions Each speaker may cover social media marketing and pricing This lets you put those notes into categories and not by speaker WHY three stars The reason is that to demand of users of version 1 to pay an upgrade of 30 for features that honestly every other developer would can a routine updatenot pleased but I still love the program If you are coming to version 2 right now you will be happy to pay the 30until version 3 comes out           Three stars Why
Such power in this app And they said you cant do real work on an iPad psh But I would love to be able to open csv files in this app and have them formatted in spare columns Thanks                 Great addition to my productive habits
This vendor practices the now all too frequent buy this high priced version now and in N months Im going to remove it from the App Store and replace it with blah v2 with a few cosmetic differences and have you sucker pay for the new version in full as opposed to pay for an upgrade Happened with Omni outliner and now with Omnigraffle     Watch out
Im tremendously relieved to see OmniOutliner 2s finally available for iPhone While having an outliner on my phone is optional for nearly everything its tremendously handy for preparing for travel I want something that runs on something that fits in my hand supports OPML import and export Ive changed smartphone platforms too often to think of this as optional and syncs between a desktop or a tablet So far only one other app out there does this that Ive found and OmniOutliner 2 surpasses it easily for flexibility feature completeness comfortable UI design and well its just nicer looking too Theres a lot to be said for being able to tweak the look of an outline so its easier on the eyes I gotta say                 Awesome
I had version 1 and used it quite a bit professionally and personally but there were always things I didnt like you couldnt drag and drop rows no templates no organization All of those have been added plus more It might be more expensive than other iPad software but it is more than a fair price This isnt a slimmed down outline tool This is a desktop comparable piece of software                 A very solid update feels at home on the iPad
Particularly when paired with OmniPresence this is my goto note and list collection tool on iOS and OS X Now that its available on iPhone too its even more powerful                 Amazing Product
I use omnioutliner to creat checklists for projects and meeting agendas Its a very dependable and versatile tool The updates are excellent                 Great functionality
Update great functionality still no bullets I like everything about this except for the customization Why are there no bullet options For the price I need that Also the opml export to scrivener didnt work           Good but why no bullets
I cant really use this on iPhone The soft keyboard shows up at the top of the screen It only shows up correctly in landscape mode but then the backspace key doesnt work        Very buggy on iPhone
Does not work with Dropbox cannot open documents from dropbox cannot save items to drop box     Does not work with Dropbox
Very buggy Does not sync correctly with WebDAV Documents make in this developers desktop outliner product are frequently not compatible with the iPad version For the cost of all of this software you should expect the products to work as advertised        Buggy
Seems half finished The app is useful in its own universe its own sync server its own file format In order to be useful in mine it would need to support Dropbox and export in pdf I dont complain about the cost of apps but in its current state this one would have been a disappointment at any price     Very Disappointed
I have been a big fan of Omni Outliner on the Mac for a long time Problem 1 When working on a project I put links to web sites in my outline That way I can find them quickly Click on the link and the page opens in the browser However with the iOS versions the links do not work They do not even show the original text If they did I could copy the text and paste them into a Browser Really limits the usefulness of the iOS version Problem 2 The cloud sync transfer of files does not work Beta indeed        Links do not work
Could be great but there are too many problems to be usable How in the heck do you delete a line Should be simple its not Tried 2 column backspace does not work return does not work Sigh        Hmmmmmmm
I purchased Outliner a few months ago and have really grown to rely on it daily I can build lists and customize the formatting add columns as necessary and keep track of everything really easily with this program I had been using Workflowy as my outliner but the 50 annual fee seemed high to me although I really like Workflowys simplicity a lot So I began researching other outlining app alternatives Not only does Omni Outliner provide both Mac and iPadiPhone versions that sync the versatility of Outliner is much greater than Workflowy and provides much more formatting styles and customization If you need an outliner I cant imagine that OmniOutliner not suiting your needs It certainly meets mine Highly recommended                 Flexible and very Capable Outliner
I feel like a fool spending this much on an app I cant use Too complicated too proprietary too hard to sync Be prepared to work hard to get any value here     Learning curve too steep
Why does every developer feel the need to add text expander to their app Seems pointless given its already a function of the native apple keyboard modifiable in settings Syncs across icloud to Honestly I regret the 30 I spent on the desktop version of text expander Much more interested in seeing an iPhoneiPod app from omni for this app Also think it would be awesome if omni offered a subscription option for their apps like todoist does All platforms one price 1 year of service Instead of buying new iterations on every single platform every other year Nudge nudge wink wink                 Why text expander
This app helps me ink a huge way to organize lots of data It puts it all rght in front of you I like the way that it has different templates But there are a few issues The most major for is it is very hard to print documents email them or open them in another app There is no print button and the type of document it creates is not able to be opened in pages or notability It seems the designer did not think about having the documents work with other apps              Great app hard to use
No longer works after installing OS9     This App does not work after installing OS9
Useful both personally and professionally It would be ideal if you could open lists outlines in a readonly mode           Very helpful
OmniOutliner is my only when it comes to list creation Outstanding and flex able to adapt to your needs Buy once and be done with your search                 Reliable 2nd to none
The Omni Group continues to be one of my favorite Appleecosystem developers With OmniOutliner 2 they have released the best note taking app for iOS I use it in conjunction with OmniOutliner for OSX With Omnipresence documents are sync effortlessly between multiple iPads an iMac and a MacBook Five stars                 Awesome
Great work Omnigroup A serious improvement Sync with Mac is flawless It would be great to have hoistfocus mode for the iPad I use it a lot on my Mac Other than that it has everything I need                 Great Work
pretty expensive but worth it                 great outliner
Ive sung OmniOutliners praises for years and have found it indispensable on my Macs and iPad After years of waiting not only did Outliner finally make it to the iPhone but it was a free universal binary upgrade You guys rock                 Now on iPhone
Two wishes 1 I wished this worked on the iPhone Im disappointed that it doesnt particularly with the iPhone 6 Plus 2 I wish it could export easily to DropBox or Evernote For my iPhone 6 Plus I am using the app named Outliner instead It works really well It directly exports to OPML files that can be imported and exported to OmniOutliner for the Mac So it is totally compatible with OmniOutliner for the Mac for outlines without the fancy formatting It goes to show that OmniOutliner can be modified to work on an iPhone So it is disappointing that I have to use some other app instead of OmniOutliner on the iPhone For this reason I knock the rating down to 3 stars The primary reason is that with the iPhone 6 Plus I hardly use my iPad           Great Outliner simply the best
One of my favorite apps I use this as a way to organize projects including budget from cleaning the garage to taking inventory of valuables to writing outlines of oral and written presentations to creating travel itineraries costs hotel and metro info maps etc Watch the training videos theyve made and read the help file to discover the main functionalities of this outliner Brainstorm your ideas add in other info then reorganize into a structure that will help you get things done more efficiently Add columns that help you track dates or subtotal expenses or the status of a To Do item Plus the aesthetics are very very nice You can export your creations to dynamic htmls so that others can view your outline complete with collapsingexpanding markers that allow you to present major points first but then expose sub items to give further details excellent for oral presentations Ive tried all the outliners and this is my favorite                 Great app for writers and doers
Where is the app Come on this iPad app should have been iPad iPhone compatible Connectivity and usability are important For the price Omni should outsource for the engineering expertise Instead of 5 Stars OmniOutliner 2 gets 2 Stars        iPhone 6 Plus
I invested in this app yesterday and am so thrilled I had to report in This is beautiful professional software Everything seems to work and the style possibilities are endless Everything you need to take notes make lists write a screenplay or book I had my whole business in one large Omni outline on an 8yearold Mac OS 104 I emailed the file to my ipad and it opened right up in the app I was thrilled because Id thought I would need to copy everything piece by piece Dont think of this as an app its ELEGANTLY CREATED SOFTWARE for 30 A bargain Thank you Omni                 Fantastic
Omni outliner has always been the place where I keep all of my reference material in my workflow I use my iPhone about 75 of the time while working This is been a major issue since I have not had my reference material on hand at all times Omni outliner for the iPhone has changed everything for me To top it off it is a beautifully written application Thank you Omnigroup People just buy this app                 Omni Love
I have been a consistent and heavy user of OmniOutliner on the Mac for over 10 years and I have been using this iPad version for around 8 months The developers have completely duplicated the experience of the desktop app here on the iPad It runs great syncs reliably and all of the functions I look for are there in the places I expect to find them I would prefer if the app could sync with iCloud Drive instead of Omnis own sync server but this is not a big gripe and overall I am very happy with the app I get a lot of use out of it and it does everything I expected                 Comparable to Desktop Version
I have long used Omni outliner on iPad and Apple computers for full speech and article preparation Now that I can see my drafts and make changes on iPhone when needed I will not use any other app to continue my writing life If you merely want a todo or shopping list do not buy Omni outliner This is a fully functional collapsible writing and analysis program with font support columns support ability to import files ability to sync with cloud storage and a replacement for Scrivener Word Pages and for basic database programs Useful for basic statistical math problems not for complex math analysis                 Triple Threat iPhone is a great addition
Omnioutliner is my all time favorite mac app and I am so excited to finally have it on my iphone Hopefully omnioutliner will now start being more widely adopted I am going to use this all the time                 I have been waiting for this for years
As I understand it this new version has been out for awhile I paid close to 30 for the app and only about half of its promoted features appear to work In order for my notes to work I must hit the appropriate button numerous times And I have yet to be successful in getting styles to work I thought this would be of the same quality of Omni Focus but that is not what I am seeing presently Very disappointed so far        So Far Quite Disappointed
I love having this on the iPhone Let me say that right up front Ive been wanting it for years But it is buggy The keyboard pops up in weird places my cursor jumps around randomly capitalization doesnt even work right Its so bug you that its almost unusable for me        Buggy as heck
New version looks great is more functional and works on the iPhone                 Well worth it
Revised review Ommi requires use of their proprietary sync mechanism It is buggy Ive gotten very tired of sorting through different versions of the same outline trying to figure out the differences Why not Dropbox Tip to use omnioutliner as a regular outlining app create an OPML document on your desktop use omnisync to sync it with the app and then duplicate it whenever you want to make a new outline You wont have access to any of the fancy formatting optionsthey wont be preserved in OPMLbut you will be able to use this apps fine interface while keeping your data out of Omnis proprietary format        Probably worth the money
OmniOutliner is a great tool for organizing things It is much more than an outliner I use it to organize my ideas projects thing to do etc I have tried many other tools and they never really were satisfactory It is probably the app I use the most It works even better if you also have it for a Mac synchronizing smoothly In terms of functionality I would give it 5 stars But it is also very expensive I paid 20 for version 1 and then 30 to update to version 2 How long until they release a new version which you have to pay for again If it was a 5 app that would be acceptable and other developers do that but for an app at this price point And for owners of version 1 I would say that there is no reason to update the changes are mainly cosmetic Because of this I deduct one star              Great tool but expensive
Didnt expect OO to be on the iPhone So far so good Images scale down well omni sync works works with the Mac great interface What more does one expect                 Great outliner
This remains the gold standard for outlining                 Remains the gold standard
App only crashes and locks up occasionally If you are expecting a seamless way to use OmniOutliner with your mac running mavericks lower your expectations Omnipresence sync requires 1010 and does NOT work with Mavericks This wouldnt be a problem if Omnigroup supported something like dropbox but you MUST use either Omnipresence or WebDAV to sync with all OmniGroup apps        Mavericks Users beware Sync Requires Yosemite
This really has the porential to be a great software package its really a pity that it has so many bugs Ive found that in larger lists the program continually searches for rows and the net result is really frustrating Even someting simple like inserting a new item into the list crashed the program Other than these frustrating bugs its a great piece of software I look forward to the bug fixes           Great Software bad execution
This app is astonishingly powerful It is easily a desktop replacement application or syncs beautifully with OmniOutliner for the Mac Its fast organizes well and is delightful to use It reminds me of Apples iWork apps in its raw power and syncing capabilities                 Astonishingly powerful
As a long time user of OO1 for iPad there are several major drawbacks that render this app not very useful other than viewing the outlines created by the Mac version 1 the lack of spellingcheck 2 inability to perform keyword search within the app 3 no full support for bluetooth keyboard shortcut which is the key to the smooth experience of OO for Mac 4 inability to save templates I am glad to see that the latest OO has nicely tackled all of the issues in this latest update Better still file syncing through Omnipresence works almost flawlessly and the work flow between Mac and iPad is now tremendously efficient The only reservation I have is the overhauled interface You can easily tell from the seachange that a lot of thoughts has been invested into the details However I am not sure the new color scheme will please everyone at least not me I still miss the color pattern of old OO and hope Omnifocus should at least give users the freedom to personalize the look of OO2 to certain extent Of cause this is purely an aesthetic concern and overall I think this is a great and longwaiting upgrade that worths the investment especially when you consider OO as a significant portion of your daily workflow                 A fully functional OO eventually
When trying to create any type of outline or structured document OmniOutliner really does the job I appreciate the new features and the cleaner look I also love the ability to use templates and themes In fact that the only thing missing A place to share and utilize templates Being able to see how other people use and format their outlines in OmniOutliner would be very helpful I think for a 30 app it would be a nice enhancement              The Best Way to Create an Outline
The Omni Group once again improves their already amazing applications 3D Touch is a game changer on the 6s If you need an app for simple lists to the most complex this is the app for you Well worth the money                 Great update for iOS 9 and 6s
This is a very useful app for some planning but it is a steep climb think Mt Denali to learning how to use it comfortably and I doubt I will ever get there Syncing with your computer is a nightmare on wheels and the instructions offered will not get you there If you like puzzles you may like app And one final point if you inadvertently add a line and want to delete it the developers of this app have made that about as difficult as ever possible It can be done but I challenge you to find out how Come on guys make this potentially very good app just good        Oh if it wasnt so complex
Great app and very powerful but I cant say the price is justifiedespecially if you include the cost of the Mac version        Expensive
This has been one of my goto iOS apps and Mac programs for years It keeps evolving and getting better Now it works on my iPhone Simply fantastic                 Exceptional Worth the cost
