I ve been watching a lot of 1920s 1930s gangster movies and TV lately and was looking a game in the genre Overkill Mafia knocked it out of the park The game is fun to play the art direction is cool and the weapon upgrades make a clear difference The 3D weapon display is slickly implemented and runs smooth even on my outdated iPhone If you re at all into 1920s 1930s gangsters this game is for you The weapons available hit all the gangster highlights 45 semi automatic pistols and Tommy guns while also including some more obscure guns as well as a few early model WW2 weapons The shooter mechanic is smooth if basic and there are a lot of points where the developers could have put in frustrating cheap shots to make it harder but they didn t The innocent bystanders move in regular patterns so you rarely have a surprise gotcha moment although why is Grandma walking around with a tray of cupcakes in an illegal still the enemies have to reload and the Gang Support feature wisely only targets enemies I m generally not a fan of games where in app purchase are needed to advance in the game but the game is enough fun that grinding your way to buying upgrades rather than shelling out real money is actually fun and doable                     Surprisingly great CABuendia
