iPhoto I loved ye but when Photos came out Apple did a dirty trick instead of migrating your iPhoto Library Apple decided to do some hybrid nonsense and make your computer use Photos for new pics and doing some kind of appending onto the previous iPhoto library Not good not good Very inefficient use of disk space and it causes problems when you have to restore your system Add to it the way that Apple is always changing how crap synchs up between items in the Apple EcoSystem and Voila you have a hot mess See I have an iMac an X serve a Mac Mini a Macbook Air and a MacBook Pro Add to it an iPod Touch and iPhone and iPad and an Apple Watch and you can pretty much determine that I don t have any idea whatsoever I have in my multiple libararies LOL I am on my iMac right now and it had different a different iPhoto library than my others it is the main photo editing machine I tried this program here first I added all my files tweaked the settings and read the manual on line I removed 1447 photos saving 1 89 GB of disk space I am not purging dupes for the disk space just to make sure that I am not carrying on tons of extra files I was surprised at the 1447 files OMG how did that happen Well what I did like was when it went to purge dupes it marked the ones to keep and the ones to purge It did a great job I had used Perfectly Clear iPhone to enhance some pics and the program picked the best ones and decided to purge the crappy ones Also if there was one that was bigger i e had more detail it kept that one as long as the pic quality was the same I find this a great program great cost I did not need to find the similar ones just rid me of dupes I give this 5 stars but just a word of caution please review all the dupes that it shows to make sure that you are purging the correct files It ended up dumping them in photos in a folder to delete I just might back them up on a network drive just in case I mucked something up Kudos to the programmers                     PhotoSweeper Lite to the Rescue and rescue it did TheMactrix

I ve had this software for several months and it still does not work with Photos despite the notes for the most recent version I always get a The file Library apdb couldn t be opened because there is no such file error each time and haven t found a solution     Still not working with Photos johnny_jack14

That s all you really need to know right It s not the prettiest but darn if it isn t cheap and does the job I just upgraded my machine merged Aperture and iPhoto libraries and then ran this to weed out the thousands of duplicates I recommend moving through the different compare scenarios from tightest parameters to loosest That makes the process a little easier                     Does the job well madtho

I m very happy My old iPhoto libraries and new Photos library had tons of duplicates for whatever reason It has been bugging me forever I tried another app called duplicate cleaner a while ago but it didn t do the job This one worked great and fast considering I had thousands of photos It was super easy once I figured out the settings I saved a couple hundreds gigs that would have been impossinble to sort out manually My digital life is organized again Very greatful                     Legit JNormP

I got this not knowing the difference between the 9 99 version and this one still don t and found the interface to be overly complicated For example the iphotos library opens in another window with no clear way to search for duplicates Once I figured out you had to drag them to the dark gray window and run compare all was well until I realized there are a lot of duplicates in Photos that this tool does not find But I ran this against a huge 32GB aperture library and it worked great Go figure                 Would be 5 stars if the interface was not so confusing and it worked with Apple Photos Jiggy Gaton

I downloaded four other apps to delete duplicate photos off my Photos previously known as iPhoto application only to find out that those apps are not advanced enough to use on the new Photos App None of them were compatible and right when I was going to give up I found this app Yeah it is not free but it is worth every dollar I saved 7 19 gb s in less than five minutes and now my computer is much faster and scrolling through pictures is more enjoyable Thanks Photosweeper Going to reccomend this app to everyone I know                     THE BEST s190

Not being very computer saavy I found that I had somehow duplicated over and over my photo downloads and before I knew it I had three times as many photo s as I should have I spoke to an Apple Genius on the best way to clean my iMac and they suggested this app Sure enough it did a fabulous job and was easy enough that I was able to use it without assistance I did however find that I had touched some photo s and the app did not remove photo s that were no longer exactly identical I used the HELP feature connected with a Super Helpful gentleman who not only was quick to respond to my emails but he also sent pictures and step by step instructions Loved the app and the support so much I purchased the Full Version and have told everyone I know with similar issues to do the same Was not expensive and I ve never regretted the purchase                     The app is great and the support is Incredible cmiller11717

My aperture library is over 30G I know there are lots of duplicates Finding duplicates by size image did not work well but finding by duplicate file name was great Overall I m pretty impressed but the gui and options are a bit overwhelming and may take some digging to understand After loading my library I got the message that 18 000 photos were not found so I have to go investigate that but I suspect it s because the drive is offline for now We ll see when we I get the drive mounted                 seems to work well dbajohn

This isn t the most obvious piece of software because it has a lot of flexibility but their support team is great about helping you figure out how to use it When I first tried to use this I ran into an error adding my Photos library Couldn t read the library at path Users xxx Pictures Photos Library photoslibrary Please provide a valid value I emailed their support team and they suggested repairing my Photos library open Photos while holding Command Option At that point I was able to get it to run but PhotoSweeper wasn t seeing the images that had been imported multiple times from Photo Stream as duplicates I sent their support team another email and they sent back screenshots and instructions on how to change the settings in the Preferences dialog to start cleaning those out                     Not obvious how to use it but their support team is very helpful graveltech

Took a few minutes to familiarize myself with the automark rules and set them up to how I wanted them for my particular situation after that it worked awesome Matching algorithm works super fast and app seems nice and stable An image set of over 1000 didn t even hiccup I hit one or two UI bugs in the preferences pane but that s SO negligible compared to the utility I got from this app Thanks developer keep up the great work                     It s great vitalydotn

In the past I used Duplicate Annihilator to clean up iPhoto but the Aperature version was returning far too many false positives to be trusted I d rather have a bloated library than lose a precious photo PhotoSweeper Lite was better in every respect Where DA took three hours to process my 30K photo library PS ran in under 30 DA found 9K duplicates but I knew many of them were false PS found 4K duplicates Best of all PS s browser lets you see the origional and duplicate side by side so I had confidence that its results were accurate With DA I had to veryfiy results fro within Aperture which was beyond tedious with such a large library                     Better than Duplicate Annihilator jmlowenstein

I was hoping to get an app that would detect and delete duplicate photos particularly one I could use with the iPhoto app This isn t that I am stuck looking at hundreds of duplicate photos that the iPhoto app apparently thinks I need I actually have very little idea as to what this app is meant to do but I do know it is not meant to detect duplicate photos from iPhoto     Not what I was looking for I eat flies

I had over 49 000 photos on my computer Before iCloud everytime we got a new computer we transferred files from the old hard drives to the new ones I ended up with triplicates and sometimes more of some photos This software found the duplicates easily and I was able to delete them quickly The software did the work automatically there is a manual option and I am now down to around 24 000 photos Thanks to the inexpensive software I was able to save lots of time and aggrevation                     Great Easy to use TheTexMom
