PlainText 2 - Dropbox text editing

I could be mistaken but it seems like the note margins got bigger in this version I cant seem to adjust that Otherwise its a gem Previous version I worked around the sync issues the developer lets me opt out of the analytics my font wish was granted Five stars and well done Just one request previous version Please let me change the font from Courier its just too hard to read The previous versions font was awesome whatever font it was Three stars to five stars if this gets granted                 Version 204

Why cant there be a default view When I go to jot down a note I dont ever use the local or iCloud library so why am I not allowed to set Dropbox as my default view when I launch the app In PlainText 1 it was much faster to get a note written down because this is how it used to be It was also faster to get to a note that was placed in a folder Also theres no more full text search If Im searching for a document with a particular keyword in the document itself the document wont show up in the search results unless that keyword is in the title And finally theres no tappable links In version 1 you had the option of making URLs or location info tappable so you dont have to copy and paste But the option is non existent in this version Its such a bummer PlainText used to be one of my favorite apps too        Not as good as PlainText v1

What could have been a decent app that syncs with Dropbox doesnt even handle new lines properly and doesnt even display them in the text What gives        No New Lines in txt

I used to love this app I had the old version and I went ad free for this one But since a couple of months I cant sync with dropbox on the ipad in one go You have to click on every little folder in a folder in another folder Its working on the iPhone but try typing long texts with that I thought it was me but my friend has the same issue So now its useless They should have resolved this by now           once upon a time

V1 was better Now theyre trying to make me again pay for something Ive already purchased     Was great

Im a user who uses voice over This app once worked using voice over Im sad and at the fact that I could no longer use this app with voiceover enabled I figured out how to use it without voiceover but that defeats the purpose with a person with a disability who cant read the screenthere is no way to contact support and when going to the website I put in a question there and never heard back from the developerall they have is a board where you can put in suggestions which are rated I actually went to try and ask a question so put it in there but never heard anythingI like the idea that this program has and wish for its accessibility to return like it was in iOS version 712 and even inversion eight of iOS        Cant use this app anymore

This app would be perfect if it werent for a few things 1 I hate the way the document is partially viewable on the right side of the screen when you are also viewing the filefolder list It makes it hard to see the full filefolder name This is probably more of an issue on the iphone than the ipad but I hate it in both 2 On the PlainText screen where you can see the iPhone iCloud and Dropbox choices and the Settings Id prefer only to see what Ive linked In other words if I have no docs on my iPhone or iCloud I only want to see Dropbox Or drop me right into the last place I was when I enter the app because of 3 When I first enter the app after its been shut down it goes right to No document Selected if I want to quickly create a doc and click the new document icon in the bottom right that new document is created on the Iphone Thats why you should be able to turn off the save areas you are not using Or be able to choose where to default save a new item 4 There should be an auto sync feature WriteRoom did this If I found myself offline and in need of a file it would be there without having to remember to do the sync 5 Cant search inside of notes old PlainText did this at least at one point and so did WriteRoom 6 Cant search subfolders old PlainText did this at least at one point and so did WriteRoom 7 Finally it would be nice to have Google Drive connectivity too But 16 is FAR MORE important first           Not bad could be better

Unfortunately this app still cant search note contents which makes it useless to me And the user interface is still disorienting on the iPhone its totally confusing to see a weird slice of the last note I edited on the right of the note list     Still cant search note contents

dropbox sync is pretty broken in that if you change a file on some other device your laptop for example youll never see that change in the PlainText app and if you then make a change there youll end up with a new conflicted copy in your dropbox folder which is kind of totally useless also is it too much to ask that the app start on the last open document or at least a folder of available documents instead of a blank window stating no document selected its like the developers of this actively hate being useful     broken dropbox sync is broken

After this app changed ownership it went downhill I cant sync or update titles and it crashes regularly while also deleting random paragraphs I could scream I want a refund Customer service was horrible     I hate this app now

Hey I love Plaintext So far its been a breeze to use I love how you can have almost endless folders of writing and no limits Since I cant really afford the super special fancypants writing apps Im glad I found a free one that works well The only thing I could think of to ask would be could you think about adding different editing fonts Like italics or bold or underlines As in just one or a couple of words at a time not the whole piece of writing Well thats all I have to say anyway love the app Just wish there were better editor options Keep up the good work              Additions

Using this editor on multiple devices with Dropbox causes syncing issues Tired of getting Conflicted copies of documents Rather than creating conflicted copies of documents how about a warning that says another device has a newer version of this file do you want to override it or wait until the other device updates When trying to position the cursor it jumps around all over the place on the iPad if you select a sentence toward the bottom of the editor view I switch to Nebulous Notes        OK But Fix Sync Conflicts

Upgraded to PlainText2 because V1 crashed every time you looked at a DropBox folders content The app doesnt quit from DropBox now but several other features are less simple or missing You cant open RTF files anymore PlainText opens txt and similar files thats it You must dig through the apps own subfolders to find your internallycreated text files PlainText previously displayed all its own docs in the main menu No more Importing files from another app like Apple Mail works but the new files dont appear in PlainTexts list until you exit and reopen the app and then they are put into iPhoneInbox or three levels deep in the list view Sure its good to have a decent text editor for mobile devices but why go backwards These omissions are definitely not update pluses           V1was better

Oh meh It was gone for good days So I removed this app cause theres no reason left to use this     Going to worst

With only a few minor modifications PlainText has the potential to be the best writing app on the iPad Like WriteRoom and Writer app PlainText has an extended keyboard and cursorarrows making it WAY more useful efficient than other writing apps Anyone who writes a lot knows what Im talking about The negative reviews seem to be by people who dont do much writing It has a simple uncluttered design that enables distractionfree composition After using it for a few weeks I havent had any trouble with it The only minor problems are that the cursorarrows are too big the extended keys are redundant If the developers simply made the arrow keys smaller to add a couple of more useful punctuation keys it would be perfect If you want a writing app with lots of bells whistles distracting ads there are already plenty of those But if you just want to get some work done this is where to do it              This is where to get your writing work done

Ive spent the past few days buyingtrying texteditors for the iPhoneiPad This app is definitely the best of the bunch in this category of apps I write longform stuff using plain text files What I was looking for was 1 Dropbox sync so that I could work on the same file both on my computer and my phonetablet and 2 a great and ideally customizable fullscreen writing experience This app gets top marks on all of the above For people looking at this category of apps Ill put this in relative terms PlainText 2 is 1 a great replacement for WriteRoom 2 much simpler in terms of UI and UX than iA Writer Pro 3 as smooth in terms of how well it works and how nice it looks but infinitely more customizable than iA Writer 4 unlike Daedalus and Compositions works simplydirectly with txt files and 5 focuses on writing not publishing unlike Byword and others Requests if I may be so bold 1 for Dropbox files Id love a reloading icon ie I want to know when the file is being refreshed so that I know to wait until thats completed 2 Id love more fonts to choose from 3 theres a minor bug when one slides the keyboard down the screen scrolls to the point in the text where the caret wasis as opposed to it remaining at the same scroll point as before the keyboard was hidden 4 a linewidth setting in characters would be very useful on tablets You should consider raising the price for Remove Ads andor adding more inapp purchases with extras like for example one for Fonts Themes Closing note PlainText is awesome thank you for continuing to work on it                 Fantastic App

This app is simple and clean The only thing I dont like is that when you launch it you get this no document selected screen Why not just take you directly to your notes or at least the folders screen              Nice clean writing app

I like this app a lot But I wish it was more colorful I want it to be more relaxing I mostly use this app for writing and it feels like I cant get into the story because everything is so WHITE Its really bright to me Also I wish it was more of a bookwriting app because its just one big scroll and I wish that you could have an option where you could make the pages turn like a book That sounds a little confusing I also dont understand the PlaintextDropbox synchronizing How do I get my Plaintext folders onto Dropbox That I would like to know Other than that I like this app a lot              Good app

Why a oncegreat app essentially has been destroyed is a mystery After updating neither the old nor the new Plaintext apps work with Dropbox The App is now completely useless A beautiful app ruined     Dropbox integration longer works

I always had thoughts that the original PlainText worked so well it must have been too good to be true and would go out of existence Now it has This app has been ruined and I deleted PlainText2 and PlainText after years of use Sad     Ruined

Default view after opening the app should immediately be Dropbox The added step of having to choose that is a huge time waster every time I want to add to a grocery list or any Dropbox list Developer make this a dedicated Dropbox syncing app We dont want or need local storage There are plenty of other apps that offer that and by including it in PlainText you are just watering down its functionality and adding a step to access Dropbox syncing notes It sure is an attractive app tho which is why Ill at least give it the 2 stars        Liked version 1 better

Every time I try to make a new note it crashes and duplicates the folder It would have been just perfect otherwise        Really like the idea but crashes

PlainText1 started crashing when I tried to scroll inside the folder I accessed on of the files that I could view without scrolling and now its stuck on THAT document and crashes every time I try to open the app because its trying to open that same text file which it cant open I could open all of the documents in other folders prior to getting stuck in this new infinite loop of crashing Lots of important data possibly lost forever unless I can get it to open I wont trust my important data to PlainText2     Lost EVERYTHING in PlainText1

When writing and switching between two apps extremely slow all these additional keyboard features seem to slow everything extremely Not worth all the frustration     Slow jerky

I have been looking for an app like this for ages without realizing It Keeping the sync folder open with sublime text on my laptop Im able to have an idea pad everywhere I go                 Perfect

I previously used this app regularly and liked it but it developed a problem when editing a text file in a Dropbox folder where when using an Apple Bluetooth external keyboard I would try to exit editing the file by navigating to the folder list of files and it would immediately send me right back to editing the same file I had no way to get out of it outside of disconnecting the external keyboard or forcequitting the app Lame I submitted a support ticket with the developer via their website more than two months ago but have heard nothing I can no longer recommend this app Ive switched to using Nebulous Notes     Doesnt work right with external keyboard

I honestly dont like this especially compared to PlainText 2 The only reason why I had to switch was because I got a new device I wish I could copy my folders as well as my documents since I have a lot of both I also want to be able to connect my Dropbox files to my device so I can use it offline then sync it to the Dropbox files when I get connection since when it tries to upload to Dropbox it messes it up on the Dropbox app for me Also I hate how to name a new document I have to have the name as the first words of it I use plaintext for writing stories and theres no reason for me to have the title before the intro especially when I have an authors note What I ended up doing was going into my purchased section and redownloading the first plaintext Im going to see if that works better           Meh should be simpler

This app doesnt work correctly with iCloud The app crashes a lot and when you reopen it you have duplicate files and folders Theres no way to clean this up after I ended up losing a folder of notes     Lost files

Inexplicably this app does not support portraitupsidedown orientation which means I can only use it when my iPad is fully charged as I cant flip it over upside down to plug in the charging cable Sure this is normal on iPhone but on iPad all orientations should be supported Ill continue my long search for a good editor that doesnt have a stupid but highly annoying flaw           Close to perfect but

There is so much I like about this app It allows me to create folders of related docs The writing environment is clean What REALLY needs fixing search across all files that would highlight the results in the doc and manual drag and drop in the left pane For instance I might create a new folder for software review As I create the files I want them to appear in an order that is neither alphabetical nor chronological Naturally I have no idea how hard it might be to do this And naturally I want it now           so close

Ive been an avid Scrivener user for years and now have the perfect backup sync app for iPad that allows me to continue working on manuscripts when my MacBook is hundreds of miles away The same applies to multiple Macbook computers using the same syncd dropbox document Excellent price point backed by superior performance                 Excellent

This current update is crap Force closes consistently and at times I cant even type in the document What ever happened to PlainText why is there only a PlainText 2        Doesnt work

Heres a sad short story I used to really like PlainText Then it was purchased by a new developer and it became PlainText2 and it had ads and it became not as usable The end        PlainText was good PlainText2 is not

The previous version was great Simple but effective The interface on this version is terrible and not just because of the ads Too bad     Plaintext was better
