PowerSaveUPS is Macintosh only scriptable software for controlling UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems with USB (such as APC) Two shutdown thresholds are specified - Soft (Graceful) shutdown, and Hard (Ungraceful) shutdown which is instigated as ...
What I expected and what I got were 2 different things for this product I bought it because APC does not provide software for MAC for the model of UPS I purchased After installing the software it didn t take me long to realize I d have to write scripts ot make this program work I was hoping for easy to use settings for this software Great I m not a programmer That s over 40 for software I ll never use because it is too difficult to use     Not easy to use iCloud-Pro
I ve long wanted a robust UPS management utility with enhanced features beyond Apple s Energy Saver and minimal offerings by UPS manufacturers for Mac owners I found it in PowerSaveUPS and wish I d known about it years ago This nifty tool allows you to set up AppleScripts to fine tune handling of power outage situations allowing your Mac s a way to gracefully close down apps and save your work prior to complete loss of power I ve tested it on Macs using UPS units by APC Belkin and CyberPower and it works seamlessly with all of them I purchased PowerSaveUPS via the App Store and it can be installed on any of my Macs running Snow Leopard or higher My setup is configured to send me an email upon loss of power on any of my machines and also when power is restored Several scripts also kick in at about 45 power to begin closing apps and preparing for shutdown You will find sample scripts at the developer s web site and they are very easy to tweak for your own use You don t have to be an AppleScript wizard to do that either My setup was a snap to configure and I appreciate the added peace of mind this extra control with scripting affords If you use a UPS with your Mac and you leave it up while you re away give PowerSaveUPS try if you d like more control during those nasty power outages This is a great utility app and well worth the purchase price Developer John Milner is quick to respond to customer support questions too Five Stars John                     PowerSaveUPS Great App for Macs Attached to UPS Devices walterb10
