This must be really old App resolution is still for old generation iPhones and trying to edit and change fields is a buggy mess that displays incorrectly The concept is great but unfortunately another zombie app in the App Store     Unless they update it dont bother
Compared to most iPad slate apps this is pretty good especially being free My only complaint is the actual clap made for the slate It sounds like a register ringing in an item and isnt very loud The screen is a little off when it comes to the clap sounding with the screen This makes it a little off when it comes time to synch in editing I feel a little less lag time would greatly improve this app Overall a good app for filmmakers              Good for the price
Very clever little app Uses qr codes to name all the media in your project I really hate doing that part so this really sped things along GUI is very slick looking too                 Major time saver
Went ahead and bought the app for 199 only to discover that the app on the computer costs 3899 Im sure its worth it but seriously guys that should have been mentioned 1 star until thats changed     What they dont tell you
I really like QR slate and I want to use it more specifically i really like that the clip information is directly connected to the clip The program is very smart and makes it easy to reconnect clips if the QR information doesnt work However there are a couple of things missing The date seems to be missing or I hope I am missing something make it work better with interlace frames I know But Im working in a country that is PAL and the QR codes as very unreliable in this situation make an option to only scan the first 30 seconds as it pretty slow Im sure the next update will address these points           A lot of potential So close
Overall it is good but Ill list the pros and cons Pros 1 Digital no need for markereraser 2 Tracking you can view a list of all your past takes Helps if you need to go back and remember a certain take 3 Notes lets you add notes to a take so you can email an updater file so when it comes time to label using the QR code it adds in that metadata 4 Works great in lowlight or silhouette type shots the bright screen Cons 1 Its digital so dont run out of battery 2 The clapper is a little quiet but that isnt the apps fault but the beep sound is unique and usually easy to hear However unlike normal clappers you cannot look at the audio waveforms to find the spike where the clapper was Also you sound guy needs to be close to make sure he can pick up the slate loud enough 3 QR Code is NOT reliable After shooting a short film only about 15 20 of the shots it automatically labeled Not to mention it took about an hour to scan all the footage Which is fine if it scanned them all but it didnt Some of the shots were clear as day too But for some reason it didnt read them Ive noticed that the QR code being at correct exposure not blown out or too dark is much more important than it being in focus This is an easy thing to do as a brighter iPad screen is NOT want you want but often times a very dark iPad screen depending on the scene 4 Does NOT work with multiple cameras If you use this with 2 or more cameras it will only read one of them Suggested improvements 1 Add in multiple cameras Tell the software how many cameras are shooting so it can label them accordingly or at least the software recognizes that theres multiple angles for the same QR code then you tell it which camera is angle A angle B etc 2 A feature to force scan a section Currently I think QR code is scanning the ENTIRE clip Some shots were 4 minutes long when all it needs to scan is the first 10 seconds 3 Make it more reliable I had one clip that it didnt recognize I took my freaking iPhone tried scanning the QR code on the screen and my iPhone picked it right up What heck man My freaking iPhone was able to scan it on a computer display but your software couldnt This software has SOOOOOOOO much potential if it was faster and more reliable If it only has a 20 reliability rate and takes an hour for only a short film then its not really worth it This is a GREAT idea But unfortunately not good implementation Improve the apps reliability and I will absolutely change my review 3 stars for effort           Good but needs improvement
Great App Keeps me organized on Set Very easy to use My editors love it                 Director
