GPU-powered, this Mandelbrot Zoomer is fast. Navigate the Mandelbrot set as if it were a giant photo: pinch to zoom, drag to pan. Two coloring sliders allow you to select a color scheme and fine-tune it, ...
This is a fun Mandelbrot explorer and is par for the course Like most apps in its class you cant zoom in indefinitely before the display starts going wonky The predefined image bookmarks are nice but to save your own requires buying the paid version Finally the supersampling is nice but now that we have the Retina display with its TRUE high resolution it would be nice to take advantage of it I can live with those things but there is one flaw I consider somewhat serious The threefingered tap to bring up the color sliders conflicts with the iPhones accessibility zoom feature if you have that turned on You can work around it by tripletapping with one finger but that gets treated as a double tap at the same timeso you get color sliders AND get sent back to the beginning This really should be rethought Nevertheless its good especially for the lack of cost           Fun but not with accessibility settings
It is cool that such an app is even possible for a cell phone ie using the programmable graphics chip to draw fractals On the other hand this app is clearly using lowprecision math and a low number of iterations meaning the fractals are splotchy and everything falls apart if you zoom in more than a few hundred times And you do have to wait for several seconds for the highresolution image to resolve itself Certainly not the advertised 2050 times faster than using the CPU Other fractal apps do not take 12 minutes to render a frame and the end result is much higher quality And when you are panning and zooming around the fractal it is not as smooth and fluid as the description text leads one to believe So 3 stars for novelty but not quality of output Since its free theres no harm in trying it out but its worth it to investigate alternatives           Interesting
For a free fractal app I find this has a lot of variety and features for manipulating colors and choosing from a variety of fractals It also renders quickly Im very impressed This is my favorite app for fractals                 Beautiful and fully featured
Only complaint is the limited zoom Perhaps this is one of the limits of the free version                 Nice free fast fractal app
Try Fractile Plus a free app works much better        Pretty crummy
This free software is very fast easy to figure out and produces really nice fractals images           Very nice
At first this app does its job well with pinch and zoom Though if you continue to zoom youll note that some of the black areas the set get fuzzy This fuzziness is an artifact of the algorithm not functioning correctly Zoom some more and youll see squares that do not resolve to pixels So for the first 2 or 3 zooms things resolve well but after that the rendering is dysfunctional           Resolution problem
