I like how this browser while it is in use encrypts all device data traffic just in case your Tor connection is temporarily lost for whatever reason and the VPN automatically turns off when the app is closed I also love the interface of this version Firefox There are many new features and those features are easier to get to and this app is just better organized My concern though is what where does the VPN connect to Much better Msbarnes87
I originally used the first Red Onion app It was really good but it failed certain tests at browserleaks org such as the webrtc check It returns your real IP For this app I have a couple concerns First where is the VPN connection connecting to and how do we know it can be trusted VPN is only as secure as the company providing the connection Second the VPN route is good in that everything on your iPad will use that and go over the Tor network That sounds like a great idea but mail twitter etc will be logging into your normal accounts in the background through the VPN connection You should never access the same services accounts both on and off Tor Maybe I am misunderstanding and the developer can respond with some clarification Right now I consider both apps to be insecure enough to warrant deletion I will update my rating if my concerns are proven to be incorrect I m not trying to be unfair or rude but when it comes to security you should absolutely ask questions and to borrow a phrase trust no one How secure is it Melenrahl
Keeps crashing during downloads Forced to reboot to clear whatever the problem was Also created VPN loopback settings that interfered with other browsers Safari and Mercury Forced to uninstall it to do normal browsing and to access App Store and iTunes Not ready for prime time Slavetoherself
What set the original app apart from every other tor app was the options The ad blocking file management password protection user agent settings tor configuration access etc couldn t download a bookmarks file though None of those features are in this version It s simply a low feature vpn browser where you don t really know much about where the vpn is going I don t see anything that this app offers that isn t done more thoroughly in other vpn apps Not an upgrade from the original GrooReview
