Since I upgraded to iOS 60 Retro Recorder crashes when trying to export              Can

Perfect for me Im a songwriter who has been looking for a simple app to record quick quality vocal and guitar samples with a quick way to transfer to my computer and then convert tracks from wav to mp3 files via my own software The clean and balanced recordings are the best ive heard for the price of the app Being a kid from the 80s the retro cassette player look is just a great touch Look forward to updates and input level additions Labeling and organizing is great and love my own personal ip for my recordings Great job Thanks for the great product              Simple Easy Great quality

Retro Recorder has one critical bug If you change tape name to other languages like Korean or Chinese the recorded tape is deleted Please resolve this problem     critical bug

Kind of glitchy before last update but it did work Since last update it wont even start All recordings lost Not the best recorder app out there     Bad update

Im only giving this three stars because we can publish to anything usable by the iPhone we must have a computer handy Thats a bummer Let us use audio copy and I will re rate it           Let us publish other places please

This is a great app the ALX processing does wonders with live concert recordings especially if you use a Blue Mikey A pro quality Stereo Mic For those who are complaining about distortion that is because you are using the iphones built in microphone which does not have manual level adjustment and has a built in volume limiter which results in loud sounds being squashed crushed and distorted but is great for recording notsoloud sounds The one thing missing the ability to directly upload your recordings to SoundCloud using WiFi or Cellular connection                 Awesome app please add SoundCloud Support

It makes great recordings and will keep recording even when your phone goes into sleep mode File transfers will fail if it goes to sleep though so you have to turn autolock off to transfer large files Also sometimes upon starting a new recording I get an error saying failed to create new input queue for recording 50 and nothing will fix that except rebooting the phone I trust they will fix that in a future update              works great when it works worth the money

I figured that if McDSP made a recording app then it must be excellent It turns out thats exactly the case McDSP is known for making some of the best plugins for recording studios and post houses so this youd think was simple for them Regardless its easy to use has a cool GUI and sounds great                 Excellent Sounds Great

I am scared to use this app for anything important It is far too easy to lose a recording If it would simply keep adding more audio to the end of an existing recording on a tape like a tape recorder would do instead of overwriting it it would be a lot safer and more authentic           Append dont overwrite

This company makes expensive plugins They wont fix the bugs for this product I can imagine the type of support they have for their more expensive products No support ppl It was nice when it worked Im axed out        Wont open

Like the look and sound quality is decent Having to export files to a server you cant access is pointless I bought this so I could easily record and share ideas This app does not do that Looking for a new record app It would make a lot more sense if you could import ideas directly into iTunes Or be able to send them directly from your phone They really need to fix this app Would not recommend purchasing     Could be a cool app

I was able to record both sides of a telephone conversation just by holding the earpiece of the phone slightly away from my ear I also recorded my cat purring I love that I can send a recording to anyone else with a computer or smart phone This app is solid                 I love This App

Very creative and impressive retro look and very easy to use Add a Pause for recording and an AutoPause for recording only when there are sounds and it would be my portable recorder of choice              I like it

This is such a great recorder it picks up all the sounds around the room You can really hear the difference between the regular recorded version and the ALX version you get both versions In meetings I can hear everyone in the room it boosts the volume of the people far away that I cant even hear in the normal recorded version without making the people close too loud Great when recording recitals when you cant get too close                 Great for Recording Meetings and Recitals

As im not an english speaker i sometimes set file names in my languagekorean Then files disappeared I cant find where it is in my iphone And wifi only file transfering is another big broblem     disappeared

Buy this app And you will be pleased It has a sorter u can put dates and title each time u record the biggest part of this app that I liked most is that u can export it to ur laptop desktop Dont waste ur money somewhere else this app may not be the best but it is the best out there at this time              This app is way better than the rest

First it does the primary job of recording very well Keep in mind that sound quality is often limited by your input ie your microphone I use the Mikey by Blue and it does well You will have to play with the input ability of the mic to get the best sound ALX isnt right for every recording situation though it does wonders at meetings Otherwise I am very happy with the fidelity of the output I admit the naming of files is a bit hinky but the process makes sense if you do multiple takes File transfer is about as good as it gets from an iPhone without a thirdparty software and I am surprised at criticisms of this I hope they keep it the way it is If they improve the naming process Ill upgrade to five stars              Excellent app with limitations

Finally updated for os 4 so frequent crashing is mercifully now gone However still no multitasking support ie one has to stay in the app to record Comparing waveforms the fancy ALX appears to be nothing more than an automatic compression action that can be done with more finesse in a free sound editing program The company boasts ALX can also isolate close proximity signals from background noise which is misleading marketing hype However I do really like the uncompressed 16 bit 44100 sampling May use it for that reason           finally updated for os 4

I guess its called retro because it has an old fashioned looking interface but compared to the many other iPhone recorder apps Ive downloaded it emerges as my personal favorite I thought Griffin ITalk was going to be my main squeeze but Im much happier with RetroRecorder Heres why Of all the recorder apps Ive tried Retro gives the most gain I sometimes will do inperson interviews for my Shrink Rap Radio podcast and rather than messing with a lot of fancy equipment its nice to be able to just put the iPhone on table between or beside my guest and myself and then have a natural conversationinterview I did this the other day with iTalk and was disappointed when I got it into my computer and into Garage Band The gain just wasnt there and I had to use postproduction tools in Garageband to bring up the gain When I compared that with a similar recording in Retro the difference was really surprising Retro was both louder and clearer and sounded best without using the ALX feature Part of the reason this is so surprising is that when I play the recordings back through the iPhone speaker iTalk sounds much louder However when I bring them into GarageBand Retro blows iTalk away Its ready to go without needing any artificial postproduction boost I dont generally take time to write app reviews but Im very enthusiastic about this one I say Go Retro                 Not so retro

Extremely frustrating Able to export audio file but when going to the URL provided get message that server is not responding Previous attempts allowed me to access once using any one computer Later attempts did not work from same computer Reports of problem to Retro Recorder no response App is not useful without working access to exported files on a computer     Cant access server to get uploaded files

I loved the look of this recorder but there were a few things keeping me from loving this app I kept having to close the app after each recording in order to start a new recording new recordings automatically start taping over old ones I found the process for labeling tedious I still used for quite a while but will be looking for something else           Retro

This app claims to export your recordings to a server but the URL it provides leads to nothing Seriously Are you kidding Complete waste of time and a buck Come on     No way to access files outside of app

YOU CAN BARELY HEAR THE DANG THING Ive had this for a long time but rarely use it Ive got 95 of ALL the PAID recorders and this ones going into my RECORD books as the WORST ONE     POOPY

Nice working recorder app Works fine on my iPhone 4 OS42 Like the retro look and the cassettes However I am missing the pause button hope they will add this on next update              Great recorder app

Lacks stsndard file mgt functions like folders or date stamps Uploading to a web browser works OK and the original time stamp is visible then but managing more than a handful of files on the iPhone side is very difficult Recording is excellent the AMX compressor helps with low levels eg at a class or meeting It appears the recording of loud sounds on the iPhone is impossible unless an external volume controlling step like a little mixer is used The problem is that software can only drop the level past the point at which distortion has already taken place I think its well worth a dollar for the AMX compressor and good quality sound hoping they will add some file management functions              Excellent recording but limited

I have had this app since 2010 It has never let me down at all I recommend this for anyone who needs to record a lecture for college                 Best app created

Sound quality is terrible plus it is bit archaeic I prefer advanced tech tools not old school out dated concepts     Not ideal

This is the worst most cumbersome app I have ever gotten If you want to export forget about it A frustrating waste of money     Fergettaboutit

Now that its working great with my iPhone 4 this is the only recorder app I ever use I often record little musical jams with me and my friends and the ALX audio zoom does an amazing job of evening out the recording so everyone can be heard equally For the type of recording I do its a feature I can no longer live without                 Great Recorder

Love this app I record my class never had a problem with it but now when I play back it mutes for a second or two every now and then I miss important facts from my class           Lovebut

I am a recording engineer who swears by compressorbank and filterbank when I mix I love the retro recorder Recorded a song idea went to send it to A friend andI have to access app from a web browser on a computer This worked fine but as the only option It limits the mobileness of it I love having mcdsp limiting in my song ideas              Ummmsharing

Easy to use and sounds great McDSP definitely knows what theyre doing Unfortunately probably due to operator error other people dont know or appreciate that                 Awesome

I was really excited to give this a try since I record a lot of meetings and interviews but it wont even open It crashes in the loading screen every time     Big disappointment

Okay now Im about to move on to my 5th recording app for the iPhone Im a musician and Id like to be able to record my band during rehearsal without having to breakout my macbook pro but it looks like Im just dreamingAnyway what I hate about his app 1 Transferring recordings to the computer is a 4 step process I dont have time for Its the worst Ive seen so far Very archaic 2 Sound distorts with loud volume and there is no way to adjust the input level 3 Labeling your recordings is a NIGHTMARE AVOID THIS APP     This app is good for NOTHING

Even though it doesnt have recording level control like I Said What this was my favorite app for recording class lectures until I updated my 3GS to IOS4 I loved the interface and the ALX does a great job of boosting the levels in playback It would be great if you could import audio from other apps to boost them too But now that Ive upgraded to IOS4 recording is totally broken IMHO it shouldnt even be allowed in the app store until its fixed for the current os June was months ago I contacted them and they are aware of the problem but provided no eta Fall classes are starting now so Im moving on     This was my favorite audio recorder before IOS4

The best of the best as far as recorders go Super simple and works with no surprises Record and save and share over wifi So easy I deleted all my other recorders This is what apps should be ps I am using it on my ipad                 The best

It records great and u can listen to them on my phone but I have had no luck in exporting the flies to my laptop I have tried everything but not able to save the recorded lectures to my laptop is a big disappointment           Good recorder but you cant down load the files

No recording pause feature Come on even the iOS recorder that comes with the iPodiPhpne can do THAT No continuation on a file I cant add more audio to a file at a later time just like I could with a real tape recorder Oh and its way too easy to record over your files Come on devs even tapes from back in the day could be protected from overwriting Fail        Looks cool but its a very limited app

Im an audio professional and I assure you this app rocks Quality is way better with the ALX limiter and its great that its non destructive This company makes fantastic plugins for the pro market and it really shows the difference                 Easily the best

No mistake this is a great app albeit slightly doinky as far as switching intentions My copy has recently begun crashing for no apparent reason and there is NO way to contact the company for support ergo the middling rating Prior to that I used it often and found it terrific at capturing ideas etc           It would be 5 star if they had any customer support
