Rod Machado s Private Pilot Handbook Second Edition, 626 full color pages Flying is fun, and with Rod Machado s Private Pilot Handbook, learning about flying is now fun, as well. If you want to learn ...
Machado is a knowledgeable and accomplished instructor that certainly knows and explains the subject well This app is essentially an e book The app has several glitches the text often goes blurry and the only way I ve found to fix it is to restart my iPad Sometimes the hi lighter function malfunctions Overall this app version is much better than the printed text lugging around a bunch of aviation books everywhere you go is no fun I often switch between this book and his how to fly an airplane book Although it has a few bugs I recommend buying this app over the printed version         Needs Improvement but is okay Mr. Dude with a bike
I have enjoyed reading this book so far as I m just starting out on my Private license It s full of good information There s only one thing I wish I could do with this and that is the ability to highlight certain passages that I want to remember and to mark pages like you can with a real e book I know this is just an app but I wish it was made more like a book That would enable me to keep all my notes and such in one place Other than that it s great                 It s Good But FailsafeMachine
Most of the private pilot training material is hard to stay with because it is just so boring that it is hard to stay focused on Rod s book is the rare exception that can make a dreadfully boring subject fun to read Yeah his jokes are a bit corny but this is a g rated subject right But it keeps it lively and interesting none the less Two thumbs up and while you are at it get the workbook too It is a worthy compliment I just wish the audio version was in iTunes Right now it is separate but it too is a great compliment Reading the material then listening to the material and finally working through the questions in the workbook almost guarantees retention                     Exceptional book made even better GTTice
This is a great update and app compared to the paper book They have done a great design on this format                     Great App Das811
Great learning tool and entertaining                     Great app Wayne39ew
I was hesitant to buy this for iPhone as I usually prefer a hard bound book However this app has landscape capability making it easy to enlarge for reading purposes This is a well written book that is great to have accessible for reading at any time on the iPhone                     Excellent read even on iPhone Phlyr
This book is a great introduction to the world of flight For anyone looking to get a private pilots license this is a must buy                     Very good 101032
This is a great app and a fantastic read I have my PPL and have read the Jep textbook and the FAA manuals While I actually enjoyed reading them now that I ve come across Rod s book I realize there were a few technical areas of flight that I didn t fully grasp The app works well and it s great to be able to carry it around on the iPad                     Great book Will str
I ve read Rod s book in its physical form and I have to say it is a Grade A must have for anyone interested in aviation The book covers so much material in such an interesting way If you are looking to take up flying but hate dry boring textbook like reading look no further This app will cover you The guy is a genius when it comes to teaching He has written the book in a way that it never leaves your mind to wander Your attention is constantly being redirected back to the subject by his good sense of humor There are many many useful photos charts for those of you who need visual aid to fully understand the majority of us The app is just like the hard copy but easier to navigate through I couldn t find anything wrong with it It s pretty much perfect though I agree with a previous review that having it in iBooks would be a little more convenient This app is highly recommended I give it ten stars though iTunes will only let me show five                     A splendid app book regardless of your experience lordofuo
This is exactly like the hard copy If you re interested in learning to fly this is the book I would highly recommend If you re like me who always thought flying a plane was complicated which kept me from wanting to learn I ve been to the bookstores looking at some learn to fly books first chapters I read I confirmed my thoughts that it s complicated But when I found Rod s book he made it so easy than it looks His way of breaking down things explaining them in ways that we can relate to based on cars for example lots of pictures and his humor is what made flying seem like driving a car I got the motivation to go on and study for my private pilot s license because of Rod s book I m self studying for my FAA exam with this book and I m not spending a cent on ground school classes that s how easy Rod s book is to learn from This is the app version and it s exactly like the book Only problem is I can t highlight some stuff that I need to look back on like the hardcopy But hey I get it on my iPhone and can read it between my busy schedule on the go and highlight the stuff in my hardcopy later at home And what make me buy the app version is I will be able to get new versions of his book each time one is released free Thanks Rod                     Just like the book Craig VW
This is an electronic version of the current edition which I have in hard cover only that is signed by the author As far as content goes it is the same as the physical book page numbers and all and it is a great alternative to the typically dry and mind numbing aviation texts available I learned a lot from Rod s book and figured it would be great to have it with me all the time on my iPad whenever I feel the need for a bit of Rod s trademark humor and insights In fact Rod s book was instrumental no pun intended in my achieving 97 on my FAA written exam Now if I can just stop having nightmares about panda trains read the book This app feels like a PDF but with an interactive table of contents In portrait mode you see the full page as if from the physical book At that resolution it is not the quite the best for easy reading of the text but it works without scrolling necessary In landscape mode you can hide the contents sidebar and have the page width fill the wide display This makes the text more readable but requires vertical scrolling Like a PDF in iBooks the text can not reflow What you see is what you get page for page from the physical book You can pinch and zoom to enlarge the many well done diagrams and photos Photos could benefit from higher resolution In some ways they look even better than the printed version Page turns are quick and the book opens to where you left off I would prefer is to have Rod s book in ePub format for the iBooks bookstore That way text can reflow to fit the size font and page orientation as desired You could then take advantage of all the iBooks features such as highlighting notes and bookmarks This app only offers bookmarks Unlike an eBook from the iBooks store this app can easily be updated by the author That is definitely a strong point in distributing this as an application As an app there is tremendous potential for an interactive book that could greatly expand the learning experience Imagine a live weight and balance tool where you can manipulate the weights and arms on a balance Or perhaps video clips and animations illustrating a particular point Granted developing an interactive iPad book is a lot of work akin to a rewrite and video production all in one This is a great start and I hope Rod and the developer of this continue to improve it I give this four stars mainly for fantastic content Execution is serviceable and clean It hasn t crashed yet which is more than I can say for some pilot apps I have tried I look forward to future updates                 Just like the book PianoGeoff
